    Un classico: sguardi incrociati sull’antico

    No full text
The essay, introduction to the various studies of the symposium, consists of two parts. They provide respectively the pedagogical and philosophical point of view on the link between education and the ancient world. The first section analyzes why the classical paideia is still a topic rarely addressed by historians of pedagogy, identifying and discussing in details historical, theoretical and cultural reasons. On the other hand, while the theme of education is present today in the production of classicists and scholars of ancient philosophy in particular, they seldom make it their exclusive object of research. Both sections discuss some of the main studies on education in the ancient world, especially in recent decades. This excursus underlines as common traits to all of them the strong interdisciplinary character and the diverse scientific background of the authors.

Hard law and soft law on data protection: what a DPO should know to better perform his or her tasks

    No full text
The paper aims to describe the sources of law needed to solve issues in data protection, with particular regard to DPO tasks. In order to elaborate this work, two preliminary steps have been carried out. The first one is focused on the critical analysis of the European and Italian law in the field of data protection. The sources of law include both hard law and soft law, with particular regard, for the second one, to the code of conduct. The second step is to define the relevant topics for DPOs, which are the matters that a DPO has to know to better perform his or her tasks in compliance with the GDPR, explaining the reasons underlying their selection.

Distance teaching in times of Covid-19 – from zero to hero? Experiences and best practices of a university lecturer trying to create a student-centred distance teaching approach

    Get PDF
This article deals with the challenges of distance teaching during the Covid-19-induced global pandemic. As hardly any university teacher was prepared for switching from traditional in-class teaching to distance teaching, and as most universities were neither personally nor technically equipped for such a dramatic change, nearly everybody had to start from zero. As a university teacher in Germany, I devised my own student-centred method of distance teaching, combining various available means and tools for distance teaching and learning, which include: Videos, WhatsApp and Zoom (VWZ). The VWZ-approach turned out to be a very promising and effective method of distance teaching and learning. It puts the students in the centre and gives them better control over their study and learning process at anytime, anywhere, and according to their own learning speed, while the teacher is constantly available for them to provide guidance, answer questions and give them feedback.

You are the legal Ombudsman for Spearman Softman, a reputable Law firm. It has been reported to you that a serious breach of data has occurred. A solicitor’s computer has been hacked, and a file stolen containing information pertinent to a case. This was leaked to a newspaper which compromises the legal case. This file contained the name and address of the defendant, as well as biometric information. You have been tasked with carrying out an investigation into the cause of this data breach. You must explore the behavioural antecedents which contributed to the breach. To do this, you must explore the motivation and causes for the breach whether accidentally due to mistakes by an employee or on purpose if targeted deliberately by a hacker

The Impact of e-Health on Privacy and Fundamental Rights: From Confidentiality to Data Protection Regulation

    No full text
This paper aims to address some of the relevant issues of health and privacy within ehealth landscape. Scientific progress is actively developing pervasive processing of health data. Once considered as the protection of private life, in the last decades, the concept of privacy has evolved. The main feature is the protection of the flow of personal information in the digital world. The GDPR has introduced a new approach that also entrusts some soft law instruments. The principle of consent has now a different and weaker role. Data-sharing, scientific research, healthcare, privacy and research are placed in a stronger interconnection. In this new framework, deontology and private self-regulation are the ultimate warranty of the balance between health and privacy. Then, the scientific community is entrusted to discover its limits and to be the guardian of a problematic balance between values increasingly transfigured by the disruptive innovation

Il ritmo della trasformazione. Temporalità e ritmo nei processi e nelle pratiche formative

    No full text
How does the relationship between temporality and rhythm in training processes affect design and pedagogical action? The representation that dominates in education shows the time as something external, tyrannical, from which the need to have to scan it with absolute precision to control it. On the contrary, recent studies have indicated the positive relevance of time and rhythm in relation to the current possibilities of an emancipatory education. How to develop new forms of critical sensitivity of the experience of the time? Rhythm is a primarily bodily datum at the basis of Abstracts 193 self-formation and intersubjective communication, of the establishment of language and all the knowledge that derives from it. Beyond the rhetoric of fast / slow dualism, it’s about exploring rhythmic patterns to understand how subjects present forms of time organization that have emancipatory and agency effects. Investigating the educational and personal rhythms reveals the possible role played by the experience of discontinuity in the process of educational emancipation.
