АНГЛІЙСЬКЕ ВЛАСНЕ ІМ’Я JACK І ПОХІДНІ ВІД НЬОГО ЕПОНІМИ: ГНІЗДОВЕ ДОСЛІДЖЕННЯ
Get PDFThe English name Jack is one of the most common names in English-speaking countries, which has become a derivate for a large number of derived eponyms. The lack of a comprehensive study of this word family determines the relevance of our research. The article is made within the framework of comparative-historical linguistics, lexical semantics, and onomastics. The article aims to explore the structure of the derivative-semantic word family with a stem anthroponym eng. Jack. As a result, the structural types of secondary word family constituents and the main directions of semantic evolution of the creative lexeme and its common nouns derivatives, including phraseological units, were identified. All derived eponyms of the name Jack were divided into the following micro-families: representatives of living nature (males, plants, animals), inanimate objects (mechanisms – any things that have replaced human labor or with which something can be done) and an intermediate link of lexemes denoting the image of a man.Jack to jedno z najbardziej rozpowszechnionych imion w krajach anglojęzycznych i dlatego stało podstawą do tworzenia wielu pochodnych eponimów. Brak kompleksowej rozprawy naukowej dotyczącej tego słowotwórczego gniazda określa aktualność danej pracy. Artykuł jest oparty na postulatach porównawczo-historycznego językoznawstwa, semantyki leksykalnej i onomastyki. Celem jest badanie struktury słowotwórczo-semantycznego gniazda, na szczycie którego znajduje się antroponim Jack. W wyniku przeprowadzonych analiz zostały wydzielone strukturalne typy wtórnych konstytuentów gniazda i zasadnicze kierunki treściowej ewolucji podstawowego leksemu oraz jego apelatywnych form pochodnych, między innymi frazeologizmów. Wszystkie eponimy pochodne od imienia Jack podzielone były na następujące mikrogniazda: przedstawiciele przyrody ożywionej (osoby płci męskiej, rośliny, zwierzęta), obiekty przyrody nieożywionej (mechanizmy – jakiekolwiek rzeczy, które zastąpiły czynności człowieka albo za pomocą których coś można zrobić) oraz część leksem określających wizerunek mężczyzny w kulturze.The English name Jack is one of the most common names in English-speaking countries, which has become a derivate for a large number of derived eponyms. Get PDFThe article is devoted to the evolution of Victor Domontovych’s creative thinking in his last novel Without Foundation. This work of art became a resume of his writing and an intertext for his philosophical and culturological research in scientific and critical articles from this period. The basic theme of this novel is the end of the epoch; the author addresses the theme of the exhaustion of modernity’s value and aesthetic systems, which formed the basis of his early artistic works. The analysis of Domontovych’s perception of the epoch boundary, his exhaustion of the cultural paradigm of modernism and the embodiment of his conclusions in the works make the research relevant, especially in terms of the changing landmarks of modern global culture. The research is based on the structural-semiotic methodology of literary text interpretations, which allows the different levels of the text organization to be reviewed, thus reaching wider cultural generalizations. This study helps to better understand the author’s concept of the culture crisis and the poetics of the novel Without Foundation.Artykuł poświęcony jest badaniu ewolucji myślenia twórczego Wiktora Domontowycza w jego ostatniej powieści Bez gruntu. Właśnie ta powieść stała się w naszych czasach intertekstem służącym do badań filozoficznych i kulturoznawczych. W swoich artykułach naukowych i krytycznych poświęconych końcowi epoki autor stale porusza problem wyczerpania wartościowych i estetycznych systemów nowoczesności, które stały się podstawą jego wczesnej twórczości artystycznej. To właśnie analiza postrzegania przez Domontowycza granic epok, wyczerpanie się kulturowego paradygmatu nowoczesności i ucieleśnienie jego poglądów w zakresie sztuki sprawia, że studium to jest aktualne w dzisiejszej sytuacji zmiany podwalin współczesnej kultury światowej. Badania opierają się na strukturalno-semiotycznym podejściu do interpretacji tekstu literackiego, co pozwala na uwzględnienie różnych poziomów organizacji tekstu i dotarcie do szerszych kulturowych uogólnień. Get PDFThe way the communicative method functions in a professionally oriented approach to teaching Ukrainian foreign students of medical specialties has been little studied, and that determines the relevance of this topic. It has been found that there is a controversy in scientific thought concerning the role of both communicative and grammar components of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language. Moreover, modern textbooks do not provide sufficient exercises to develop professional communication. The purpose of this study is to investigate the application of the communicative method in a professionally oriented approach to teaching Ukrainian (as a foreign language), and to develop appropriate exercises and tasks. The conclusion is that in the process of learning to communicate in a foreign language, it is important for students to present and master grammatical material. Samples of tasks and exercises aimed at developing the communicative and grammar competence of foreign medical students in professional communication are presented.Funkcjonowanie metody komunikacyjnej w zawodowym podejściu do nauczania języka ukraińskiego studentów zagranicznych kierunków medycznych jest mało zbadane, co uwarunkowuje aktualność tego tematu. Stwierdzono, że badacze różnią się w swojej opinii na temat roli komponentu komunikacyjnego i gramatycznego w nauczaniu języka ukraińskiego jako języka obcego. Ponadto współczesne podręczniki nie mają wystarczającej liczby ćwiczeń, aby rozwinąć komunikację zawodową. Celem pracy jest poznanie zastosowania metody komunikatywnej w profesjonalnym podejściu do nauczania języka ukraińskiego (jako języka obcego), opracowanie odpowiednich ćwiczeń i zadań. Stwierdzono, że w procesie uczenia się komunikacji w języku obcym istotne jest przedstawienie i opanowanie materiału gramatycznego przez studentów. Get PDFThe article is an interpretation of Oles Ulyanenko’s novel Fiery Eye on the principles of corporal-mimetic method for analyzing fiction. Having applied this innovative methodology, the conclusion is reached that the novel is not based on an apocalyptic vision but on a seduction phenomenon. This conclusion disputes traditional critical reflections on Oles Ulyanenko’s literary works. The content of seduction is determined by the correlation between the desire for power, woman, sex and death. They are symbolically echoed by the image of a sky with an enormous eye in the center, blazing with seductive fire. This fire is vivifying warmth and light. According to Oles Ulyanenko, the way there runs through a carnival turning cruelty into mercy, horror into delight, hatred into tenderness, disgust into pleasure, and vice versa.Artykuł poświęcony jest rozważaniom o powieści Ołesia Ulianenki Ogniste oko na podstawie cielesno-mimetycznej metody analizy dzieł sztuki. Dzięki zastosowaniu tej najnowszej metodologii wyciągnięto wniosek zaprzeczający tradycyjnym krytycznym refleksjom na temat twórczości pisarza i wedlug którego powieść opiera się nie na apokaliptycznych wizjach, ale na koncepcie pokusy. Natomiast znaczenie pokusy jest określane przez korelację między pragnieniem władzy, kobietą, seksem a śmiercią, symbolicznym echem której jest obraz nieba z wielkim okiem pośrodku – z okiem płonącym ogniem pokusy, czyli życiodajnym ciepłem i światłem. Get PDFThe purpose of this paper is to analyse the reception of the short story Ги-ги-и! by the contemporary Ukrainian writer Yurii Vynnychuk through the prism of the senses. It investigates how the artistic word becomes the link between the reader and their senses, how it shapes visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, and tactile associations in the consciousness of the reader. The study shows how the writer, using an aesthetic of ugliness that affects the reader’s subconscious and impacts their senses, demonstrates the dark side of life. The paper also points to Vynnychuk’s use of the monstrosity aesthetic. The study uses a hermeneutic research method.Celem artykułu jest analiza odbioru opowiadania Ги-ги-и! autorstwa współczesnego ukraińskiego pisarza Jurija Wynnyczuka przez pryzmat zmysłów. Prześledzono, w jaki sposób słowo artystyczne staje się łącznikiem między czytelnikiem a jego zmysłami, jak kształtuje ono w świadomości odbiorcy skojarzenia wzrokowe, słuchowe, zapachowe, smakowe i dotykowe. Studium unaocznia, w jaki sposób pisarz za pomocą estetyki brzydoty, która oddziałuje na podświadomość czytelnika, wpływając na jego zmysły, demonstruje mroczną stronę życia. Get PDFThe article considers the basic principles of developing the communication skills of foreign students on the basis of listening. This type of work is extremely relevant today, as modern students often use a variety of technical means for learning. These can be elements of both monologue and dialogic speech. The objectives of the study are to determine the conditions for the developing communication skills using the method of listening, and to determine the basic principles of working with foreign students while listening to different texts. The ultimate goal of foreign students in mastering the Ukrainian language is to develop basic communication skills. It is speech skills that are the automated component of conscious human activity. Such skills are formed as a result of performing exercises before and after listening to audio material. After listening, we invite international students to perform certain tasks to check the completeness, accuracy and depth of understanding of the material. But it is necessary to understand that all this work has one purpose - communication. The main task of a teacher of Ukrainian as a foreign language is to teach students to express their thoughts freely and clearly.W artykule omówiono podstawowe zasady rozwoju umiejętności komunikacyjnych studentów zagranicznych z wykorzystaniem słuchu. Ten rodzaj pracy jest dziś niezwykle istotny, ponieważ współcześni studenci często używają różnych środków technicznych do nauki. Mogą to być elementy zarówno monologu, jak i mowy dialogicznej. Celem pracy jest określenie warunków kształtowania się umiejętności komunikacyjnych metodą słuchania oraz określenie podstawowych zasad pracy z obcokrajowcami podczas słuchania różnych tekstów. Ostatecznym celem opanowania języka ukraińskiego przez zagranicznych studentów jest wykształcenie podstawowych umiejętności komunikacyjnych. To umiejętność mówienia jest zautomatyzowanym składnikiem świadomej działalności człowieka. Takie zdolności kształtują się w wyniku wykonywania ćwiczeń przed odsłuchaniem materiału audio i po tej czynności. Get PDFThe author of the article analyzes Ukrainian literature of the past century as a part of the history of literature. He draws attention to the peculiarities of the literary canon as well as to the interruption in the process of literary development during the different colonial and totalitarian periods. Adverse social conditions determined the neglect of the tradition. Colonial and totalitarian circumstances slowed down the search for a proper form for a long time, and only during the period of Ukraine’s independence did it become possible to make up for past losses. Overcoming all crises, Ukrainian literature has shown extraordinary vitality and resilience. Such circumstances created the conditions at the end of the twentieth century for the realization of a new quality in its literature, which is being formed to this day.Autor ujmuje literaturę ukraińską XX stulecia jako część historii literatury. Wskazuje na specyfikę tworzenia kanonu literackiego, a także analizuje przerwy w rozwoju literatury. Niekorzystne warunki społeczne spowodowały zaniedbanie tradycji. Kolonialne i totalitarne okoliczności przez długi czas spowalniały poszukiwanie właściwej formy i tylko w okresie niepodległości Ukrainy udało się zrekompensować straty z przeszłości. Przezwyciężając pęknięcia i kryzysy, literatura ukraińska wykazała się niezwykłą żywiołowością i odpornością. НАРАТИВНІ СТРАТЕГІЇ В РОМАНІ ІЛЛАРІОНА ПАВЛЮКА БІЛИЙ ПОПІЛ
Get PDFArtykuł poświęcony jest analizie strategii narracyjnych w debiutanckiej powieści Iłłariona Pawluka Biały popiół. Celem artykułu jest ustalenie, jak zorganizowana jest narracja i jakie efekty artystyczne autor starał się osiągnąć, poprzez zwrócenie uwagi na intencje autora i śledzeniewpływu poszczególnych znaków tekstowych na odbiorcę. Analizowane są obecne w powieści cechy kryminału retro i noir jako gatunków „adrenaliny”. Zwrócono uwagę na kinematograficzny charakter pracy wynikający z pomysłu autora. Podkreślono wiodącą strategię narracyjną powieści – intertekstualność, w szczególności intertekstualne interakcje z opowieścią Mikołaja Gogola Wij oraz wpływ intertekstów na interpretację tekstu przez czytelnika. Rozpatrzono zjawisko nierzetelnej narracji na wybranym materiale i wykazano, że narrator homodiegetyczny – prywatny detektyw Taras Biłyj – jest niewiarygodny. Badana jest także strategia stosowania prolepsy i wywoływania wahania czytelnika, realizowana poprzez budzenie wątpliwości co do natury artystycznej umowności przedstawianych wydarzeń.The article is devoted to the analysis of narrative strategies in the debut novel of Illarion Pavliuk White Ashes. Taking into consideration the author’s intention and tracking the influence of the textual indicia on the recipient, the article aims to find out how the narration is organized and what artistic effects the author was trying to achieve. The features of retrodetective and noir as “adrenaline” genres present in the novel are analyzed. The cinematic qualities of the work as a result of the author’s intention is marked. The leading narrative strategy used in the novel, the intertextuality, is highlighted, in particular, the intertextual interaction with the story of M. Hohol Vii, and the influence of intertextems on the reader’s interpretation of the text. The phenomenon of unreliable narration is considered on the basis of the selected material and it is proved that the homodiegetic narrator, private detective Taras Bilyi, is unreliable. The strategy of using prolepsis and provoking the reader’s hesitation which is realized through the formation of doubts about the nature of the artistic convention of the events described, is also examined
УКРАЇНСЬКА НЕОФРАЗЕОЛОГІЯ: СЕМАНТИКА, СТИЛІСТИКА, ПРАГМАТИКА
Get PDFIn the article, the author analyses the processes of creation of Ukrainian neo-phraseological units, traces their sources, their features of phraseologization, identifies different groups of phraseological neo-logic and provides a stylistic and sociolinguistic interpretation. As the analysis shows, many of these modern neo-phraseological units are either created in a virtual communication space, or spread and gain popularity through Internet platforms in the form of memes. Since text Internet memes have not yet been studied in terms of their phraseologization, we consider this area of research relevant. The paper uses a descriptive method, as well as methods of semantic and contextual analysis. The vast majority of memes and phraseological units are a reaction to events in socio-political and socio-cultural life; they represent current topics, which reflect stereotypes, mythologies of mass consciousness, values. The neology material analyzed here shows that quite often phrases-replicas are marked by certain stability and reproducibility; they are widespread due to the typicality of situations in which they can be used, and updated expressiveness. Despite the tendency to universalize the sphere of communication in the Ukrainian environment, there are lots of clichéd phrases related to Ukrainian characters and events.W artykule została przeprowadzona analiza tworzenia ukraińskich neofrazeologizmów, źródeł ich powstania, osobliwości frazeologizacji. Ponadto omówiono różne grupy neologiki, zaproponowano ich interpretację stylistyczną oraz socjolingwistyczną. Jak wynika z analizy, duża część współczesnych neofrazeologizmów powstaje albo w wirtualnej przestrzeni komunikacyjnej, albo rozprzestrzenia się i zyskuje popularność dzięki platformom internetowym jako memy. Zważywszy, że internetowe memy tekstowe jak dotąd nie były przedmiotem badań z punktu widzenia procesu frazeologizacji, takie badania uznano za istotne i warte podjęcia. W pracy wykorzystano metodę opisową oraz metody analizy semantycznej i kontekstowej. W toku analiz semantycznych i kontekstowych ustalono, że powstawanie memów i frazeologizmów jest reakcją na wydarzenia w życiu społeczno-politycznym oraz kulturalnym. W związku z powyższym memy reprezentująaktualne tematy, odzwierciedlają stereotypy, mitologemy świadomości masowej oraz wartości.Przeanalizowany materiał neologiczny pokazuje, że bardzo często frazy-repliki charakteryzują się nową ekspresywnością oraz określoną stabilnością i odtwarzalnością, a na ich popularność wpływają sytuacje typowe, w których mogą zostać użyte. Mimo tendencji do uniwersalizacji dziedziny komunikacji, w środowisku ukraińskim funkcjonuje wiele utartych zwrotów związanych z ukraińskimi postaciami oraz wydarzeniami
