The author of this article assumes that culturological and semantic studies of a language allow one to achieve particular results by drawing attention to linguistics, which plays a vital part in the semantic interpretation of all linguistic fields (maybe excluding phonetics). The meaning of linguistic signs itself conveys fundamental information about the picture of life and mentality that is typical of a given linguistic, cultural and ethnic group. Taking into consideration a cultural and semantic paradigm when analyzing Russian and Polish idioms with the lexical component земля/ziemia, the author draws a conclusion that the interpretation of the concept of land in the studied idioms is deeply anthropocentric. It also reveals the axiological attitude of Poles and Russians toward land. The author of this article assumes that culturological and semantic studies of a language allow one to achieve particular results by drawing attention to linguistics, which plays a vital part in the semantic interpretation of all linguistic fields (maybe excluding phonetics). This article is an attempt to show new ways of teaching model Russian pronunciation to Polish students of Russian language and literature who only begin to learn Russian. The author of the article claims that groups of beginners should not only be taught phonetics during the first several weeks of studies in the form of intensive courses of articulation and intonation. The process of forming correct pronunciation habits in these groups should carefully follow the principle of complexity involved in acquiring speaking skills. This article is an attempt to show new ways of teaching model Russian pronunciation to Polish students of Russian language and literature who only begin to learn Russian. This article deals with two of the four primary language skills – listening and reading. The author tries to show not only differences but also similarities between these two receptive language skills, as research has shown that they are very close to one another and have much in common, especially in terms of psychological aspects. The author draws readers’ attention to the fact that both processes – listening and reading – are connected with acquiring and understanding information, entail a critical and creative interpretation of a given text, have similar structure as well as require much concentration and ability to read between the lines, and, furthermore, to understand what is not said or written directly. It is suggested that an integrated approach should be incorporated into the foreign language teaching process, as there are clear similarities between the two aforementioned language skills, especially in the psychological dimension. This article deals with two of the four primary language skills – listening and reading. The article analyzes the literary works of modern writers which are based on Gogol’s The Overcoat (Shinel). These stories and The Overcoat (Shinel) are united by a general theme – “the small person”. By addressing Gogol’s creativity the authors open up in what way the typical features of Gogol’s protagonist, Bashmachkin, have become true in the modern space. The article analyzes the literary works of modern writers which are based on Gogol’s The Overcoat (Shinel). „Maленькая Вера” (1988) – „настолько отвратительного в нашей стране еще не было…”. Возмущенные против образованных. Голос к эскизу о менталитете „homo sovieticus” у порога новой эры

The article is thought to be a contribution to a study on the mentality of homo sovieticus on the edge of a crucial period – perestroika. The basic material for the author were letters written by the audience to a movie screenwriter, Maryia Khmielik, and published as the last chapter of a film-based novel, both with the same title – Little Vera. This large body of voices stands up against – in their opinion – shameless and vile erotic scenes and against those few home truths which are presented. The portrait of homo sovieticus is fished out from fragments of the letters. Homo sovieticus seems to be sad, miserable, helpless and adrift in a new reality – just like the film’s characters. The article is thought to be a contribution to a study on the mentality of homo sovieticus on the edge of a crucial period – perestroika. This article is devoted to the issue of the evolution of how a woman is portrayed in Vladimir Voinovich’s works. In the author’s early works a woman’s portrayal was relatively poor, stereotypical and neutral; then it became more diverse and profound from the point of view of its ideological significance. A woman steps away from the man’s background and transforms herself into his equal partner in the process of creating reality. This article is devoted to the issue of the evolution of how a woman is portrayed in Vladimir Voinovich’s works. Особенности поэтики киноромана: проблема перекодирования текста

While studying a movie novel, one receives the opportunity of tracing the reverse process: the process of the “text on the screen” being turned into the “text on paper”. This seems to become even more interesting considering the fact that cinema is a synthetic art form, where the patterns which affect all the senses of perception are used to create the audio-visual image. When it comes to words, naturally, in the cinema one mostly hears them. The word is, of course, one of the most important means of transferring information, yet not the principal one. In this way literature is entirely different from cinema, as it uses only one way of transferring information (visual – if it is a paper-based book, and auditory – in case one is dealing with an audio-version). Consequently, the process of making a movie novel is connected with converting information from one form into the other. In addition, there is the question about the peculiarities of movie novel poetics considering the fact that the general contents are known to the recipient and, what is more, were perceived with the help of the other senses. While studying a movie novel, one receives the opportunity of tracing the reverse process: the process of the “text on the screen” being turned into the “text on paper”.
