Get PDFThe article analyses the originality of the narrative manner of the contemporary writer Yaroslav Shipov, in whose texts the ideals and spiritual challenge of the heroes and storyteller are always accompanied by a dense network of humor and common nonsense. Conclusions are drawn regarding the reasons for such a strategy. The prose by Shipov, though aimed at finding God’s presence in the world, is stylistically and problematically associated with secular and social literature. It motivates the reader to do self-meditation and intellectual work based on the influence of suggestion

The author comes to the conclusion that direct and indirect linguistic signals of verbali- zation of perceptions of values and attitudes can be allocated among the types of speech acts. Such speech acts as representatives, commissives, directives, declaratives can transfer value meanings with varying degrees of certainty. The materials are a corpus of conversations of citizens of the Urals – vernacular speakers. It is possible to identify some of the core national and regional values based on the analysis of the material

Get PDFThe article analyzes the correlation between the cognitive semantics of the words казаться, показаться and the ordinary/fictional narrative strategy, embodied in a context of a particular type. The cognitive semantics of the words is identified within such parameters as a ‘discourse context type’, ‘narrative strategy’, as well as the ‘communicative register’ – either ‘reproductive’ or ‘informative’. The paper considers a gestalt scenario, according to which different contexts with the words казаться, показаться are built up. The author demonstrates the integrity of the gestalt and also describes focus shifts which underlie the construction of different contexts – ‘background’ and ‘figure’

Get PDFVeniamin Korsak is a writer who represents the Russian literature of the first wave of emigration and is known primarily through a series of five autobiographical no- vels presenting the story of a simple man who went into German captivity during World War I and then returned to Russia, which was overwhelmed by civil war. Korsak’s works are a testimony of a “little man”, looking at reality through the prism of ordinary everyday affairs, instinctively trying to survive in the historical turmoil. This article is an attempt to show the specificity of this perspective on the basis of his novels
