L’ontologie des plantes dans l’Ovide moralisé. Métamorphoses et jeux d’interférence entre les règnes
In L’Ovide moralisé, the Christianised medieval adaptation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the theme of metamorphosis provides a privileged observatory for probing the complex links between man and the plant world in the 14th century. Numerous stories highlight the way in which the medieval ontological system, broadly defined as analogist, can be permeated by animistic tensions. To shed light on this principle of hybridisation, this article will draw on Philippe Descola’s categories. Focusing on the author’s writing strategies and their effect(s), it will examine the principles of continuity and discontinuity between interiority and physicality. At the same time, by comparing the source text and its rewriting, we will be looking at possible changes in the way plants are perceived between Antiquity and the end of the Middle Ages.In L’Ovide moralisé, the Christianised medieval adaptation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the theme of metamorphosis provides a privileged observatory for probing the complex links between man and the plant world in the 14th century. La démesure et l’indocilité du vivant. Intermittences de la botanique dans deux romans du cycle des Rougon-Macquart de Zola
Even though the nineteenth century saw the significant development of botany, Émile Zola, an enthusiast of progress and the modern city, made it part of his cycle sparingly, making it a botanical counterpoint that punctuates subtly his work. There are four novels in the Rougon-Macquart cycle where the plant appears in the form of sequences that develop a kind of plant cosmopoetics: La Fortune des Rougon, La Curée, Le Ventre de Paris and La Faute de l’abbé Mouret. We have chosen two of them (La Fortune des Rougon and Le Ventre de Paris to demonstrate that with each appearance, the plant in the form of ruderal plants or vines becomes a powerful narrative spring that establishes, at the same time, a novelistic topo-energetic and a symbolic device. There are two possible readings of these botanical sequences: one that is integrated into the novelistic ecosystem specific to each of these four novels and the other that shows how they function from the perspective of the whole.Even though the nineteenth century saw the significant development of botany, Émile Zola, an enthusiast of progress and the modern city, made it part of his cycle sparingly, making it a botanical counterpoint that punctuates subtly his work. Pragmatemas de precaución relacionados con el consumo de productos farmacéuticos en los países de habla hispana
This article analyzes the precautionary pragmatemes currently employed by pharmaceutical companies to prevent the irresponsible consumption of over-the-counter medications. The selected sample consists of eighty audiovisual advertisements for these medications, meant for eleven Spanish-speaking countries. The analysis shows that possible diatopic differences do not affect the lexical level and only minimally affect the morphosyntactic level. What truly distinguishes these pragmatemes in the Spanish-speaking world is the discursive level, specifically the type of recommendations conveyed in the advertisements, which often are the result of the national laws of the national legal regulations of the respective country. This article analyzes the precautionary pragmatemes currently employed by pharmaceutical companies to prevent the irresponsible consumption of over-the-counter medications. Le bois entre nature et surnature. Pommiers et sapins, aubépines et coudriers
Wood, even when cut from its stalk and thus from its nourishing sap, does not wither. It is perhaps this astonishing quality that makes it not only a sacrificial fuel of choice, but also the vector par excellence of all regeneration, resurrection and promise of eternity. Dead wood is therefore invested with paradoxical gifts. We’ll try to decipher their lesson: they are all keys giving access to meanings buried beneath the noise of speech and the linear rationality of the diegesis.Wood, even when cut from its stalk and thus from its nourishing sap, does not wither. The treatment of lexical variation in the Diccionari català- castellà i castellà-català by Francesc de Borja Moll
In 1977, Francesc de Borja Moll published the Catalan-Spanish/Spanish-Catalan Dictionary in the context of the linguistic and cultural adjustment of the Balearic islands. Since then, several editions of this lexicographical work have been published. The aim of this paper is to analyze, from a contrastive and integrated perspective, the treatment of lexical variation in these lexicographical work. The study will focus on the representation of the different geolectal varieties of Catalan in terms of lexical presence, with a special focus in the linguistic areas that are little represented in the history of Catalan lexicography, such as the Catalan of the Franja. The results may be of interest for theoretical reflection on variation and linguistic change, considering that this dictionary will soon be 50 years old.In 1977, Francesc de Borja Moll published the Catalan-Spanish/Spanish-Catalan Dictionary in the context of the linguistic and cultural adjustment of the Balearic islands. From the poem to the theatrical text: a hypertextual analysis of Arnau (1984), by Rodolf Sirera, based on El comte Arnau (1928), by Josep M. de Sagarra
This article carries out a hypertextual analysis of the play Arnau (1984) by Rodolf Sirera, regarded as a rewriting of El comte Arnau (1928) by Josep M. de Sagarra. This long poem, in turn, reinterprets the myth originating from Catalan popular tradition. For our analysis, we adopt a theoretical framework primarily based on Gérard Genette’s model (Palimpsestes, 1982), according to which the poetic version serves as the prior text A, or hypotext, while the theatrical version functions as the text B, or hypertext. Additionally, we explore Michael Riffaterre’s (1979) complementary contribution, allowing us to examine the serious transformation – or transposition – effected by Sirera on the basis of Sagarra’s poem and the popular myth. Among the results, we observe the exchange of roles primacy between Arnau and Abbess Adelais, with the latter emerging as the true protagonist. This article carries out a hypertextual analysis of the play Arnau (1984) by Rodolf Sirera, regarded as a rewriting of El comte Arnau (1928) by Josep M. de Sagarra.
