Implementation of Lean thinking in a higher education institution: an overview of problems and countermeasures
The growing interest in implementing Lean thinking in non-manufacturing sectors is encouraging higher education institutions (HEIs) to keep pace with integral innovation. We aim at identifying the challenges of implementing Lean thinking in HEIs and exploring why Lean principles, although recognised as effective in the private and public sectors, are experiencing implementation problems in HEIs. We focus on preventive systems, measures and strategies that could contribute to minimising the risks of resistance towards the implementation of Lean thinking and, simultaneously, to increasing the quality of education in HEIs. This paper discusses the differences between Lean and Hierarchical Management Systems, the concept of the quality of education, the elements of customer value through benefits and burdens, the margins between optimising performance and overloading employees, the measurability of value stream processes, and the links between improving communication processes and performance indicators in a Lean framework. We carried out an overview of the scientific literature to define the constituents of the Lean mindset in HEIs and the problems that may arise in the implementation of these Lean strategic elements. This study leads to a better understanding that Lean thinking contributes to HEIs’ “customer” satisfaction, institutional efficiency and quality of education, all whilst corroborating the point that innovative top management, their devotion and a supportive and flexible workforce are essential components in fostering the effective implementation of Lean thinking in HEIs.Taip / Ye

Intermediate till soil properties and distinctive features
All the sediments discharged from the Quaternary glaciers differ in their granulometric and mineral composition. Tills, sands, and clays cover unevenly sized areas in various places. However, during engineering geological and geotechnical investigations, the most found types of till soil are sandy low plasticity clay (saClL), sandy low plasticity clay-silt (saClL-SiL), and clayey sand (clSa). The last two mentioned are intermediate till soils which are mostly assigned as Medininkai glacial deposits. The analyzed intermediate glacial till deposits are distributed in the eastern part of Lithuania, where the biggest and the most complex buildings are being designed. During the research, about 80 moraine samples from the entire territory of Lithuania were investigated. Several samples were analysed using an SEM microscope. From all the obtained data a database was created, where all the data was summarized and analysed in P.K Robertson’s graphs with SBT (Ic) zones. After research, intermediate till soil is characterized by low natural moisture content and high natural density, and it practically always has low plasticity, so the porosity rate of these soils is relatively low. This soil is less compressible. Investigated soil during this study mainly takes the position into P.K Robertson’s graphs zones 4 (Silt mixtures) and 5 (Sand mixtures) mixtures where the Ic zone is 2.60. After research with an SEM, it can be stated that clay mineral mixtures (illite-smectite) and not clay minerals predominate in the investigated soils’ clay fraction
Study of the impact of sensory marketing on consumer behavior
Sensory marketing is easy to manage and understand and is based on emotional and behavioral actions that are ideal for selling products and services. These are the actions that, through corporate marketing and design, create positive emotions and experiences for the consumer or consumer who associates sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch with the brand. It uses one or more of the user’s senses to entice and attract them to a product and service to become a customer. The article aims to investigate the expert’s opinion on how sensory marketing affects consumers. The article was prepared based on the analysis of scientific literature and the analysis of interview data. The study involved 13 experts, 6 women and 7 men, who work in the field of informatics, marketing, transport, business, trade communications. Sensory marketing is a solution that can create emotional qualities of a product and establish strong relationships with the consumer. Smell affects people’s behavior and emotions. The problem is that most marketing companies still focus on using video and audio.Taip / Yes

The metakaolin waste effect on the physical and mechanical properties of high-performance concrete
This paper discusses the structure and properties of high-performance concrete (HPC) analysed by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, exothermic temperature, density, bending, and compressive strength. A certain amount of cement (5%, 10%, 20%) was replaced in the concrete mixes with metakaolin waste generated in the expanded glass manufacturing. This metakaolin waste consists of a high amount of SiO2 + Al2O3 – 92.2% and has significant pozzolanic activity according to the Chapelle test – 1148mg/g. The results presented in the paper show that metakaolin waste is an active additive that accelerates the setting of HPC and makes its structure denser. HPC with up to 10% of cement CEM I 52,5 R substituted with metakaolin has approximately 28 day flexural and compressive strengths similar to control samples – 15 MPa and 135 MPa, respectively. The article also presents test results showing that metakaolin waste reduces the maximum temperature of the exothermic reaction in concrete and does not cause the formation of new compounds. A Review on Improvement in Detection of Cyberattacks Using Artificial Intelligence for the Grid Applications
The integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies into critical infrastructures, such as smart grids, has raised significant concerns regarding cybersecurity. This paper explores the dual role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in both enhancing and challenging cybersecurity within smart grid systems. By analysing the current state of-the-art research and technology, the utilisation of artificial intelligence and machine learning to fortify cybersecurity defences while addressing potential vulnerabilities. The the emergence of cyber threats targeting Internet-of-Things-based smart grids is highlighted and solutions to mitigate these risks are proposed. Through a comprehensive review of literature, the efficacy of artificial intelligence driven cybersecurity measures in detecting and preventing cyberattacks are evaluated. Additionally, challenges associated with implementing these solutions in smart grid environments, such as data complexity and computational requirements are taken into account. The findings underscore the critical importance of ongoing research and innovation to ensure the resilience of smart grid cybersecurity.Taip / Ye
