    The main aim of this paper is to present the findings of the latest, authorial indepth research concerning the ancestry of a chaplain and chronicler to the masters of the Livonian branch of the Teutonic Order, Hermann von Wartberge, who lived in the 14th century. The author successively addresses and attempts to fill the gaps regarding this historical figure using primary and secondary sources. The main conclusion is that Hermann might have originated from the old Mecklenburgian house of von Warburg

    The land and its cultivation had an important place in the minds and hearts of people living on the Tiber. As Roman culture developed, there evolved a tradition of building tombs which were to serve the living rather than the dead. This led to a widespread practice of designing “sepulchral landscapes” which became a fixed feature of Rome’s architectural space.     The purpose of this article is to present the concept of three-fold theology (theologia tńpartite) combining mythical, civil and natural aspects, a theory abundantly discussed in Greek and Roman literature, spanning sources from the first century BCE (Plutarch, Ps.-Plutarch, Dio Chrysos-tom, Varro) to the Christian authors of the fourth and fifth centuries CE (Eusebius, Augustine, Tertullian). The paper also inquires into the origin of the theological trichotomy of theology, assessing those writings in terms of stoic influences, sińce stoicism is most likely the framework within which the theory first arose. It addresses such issues as construction activities of the Roman army, development of the logistical base in order to meet the provisioning needs of the Roman troops. The main issue is the process of development of the local market of trade and production, as well as role of the Roman army in establishing and developing the fundamental branches of economy.

    The aim of this paper is to reconstruct the figure of a model nobleman-farmer in the 16th- and 17th-century Poland. As a research tool, the author employs an original definition of the model, while relying on farming almanacs from the period as sources.
