No full textThe paper examines an aesthetic object (work of art) as an intentional being. Also, it is approached as a product of intertextual practices or “games”. Thus, the existence of such an object is dependent on previous works of art as well as on the conscious acts of the reader who is able (or unable) to decode the hidden meanings and content of a work of art. It is also emphasized that the meanings cannot be precisely determined, since an aesthetic object exists dynamically, changing constantly through acts of creation and acts of interpreting. Such a theoretical approach is consistent with the mimetic theory formulated by Plato and Werner K. Heisenberg’s indeterminacy principle. „Iliada” Homera widziana oczyma ilustratorów – Johna Flaxmana i Stanisława Wyspiańskiego
Full text linkThis paper is a contribution to studies into the reception of ancient literary works, focusing on the reception of one of the greatest masterpieces of antique literature, The Iliad. Homer’s epic has repeatedly inspired both other ancient authors and artists of later periods. This was also the case with two exceedingly versatile artists, John Flaxman and Stanisław Wyspiański. Rather than go into analytical comparisons of the scenes they recreated, this study attempts to highlight the professional approach of both artists to their commissions, outline their respective techniques and the manner in which they envisioned the stories they would subsequently depict.This paper is a contribution to studies into the reception of ancient literary works, focusing on the reception of one of the greatest masterpieces of antique literature, The Iliad. Medale Stefana Batorego. Uwagi ikonograficzne
Full text linkThe author of this paper discusses twenty-six works of art, including medals, coins, portrait engravings, emblems as well as specimens of woodcarving and sculpture. Apart from a detailed analysis of the medallic legacy of Stefan Batory, the aim of this study is to find and describe works of art that a medallic artist might have been exposed to when commissioned by the king or his immediate circle to fashion a medal. Having identified direct sources of inspiration for seventeenth-century artists, it has been possible to offer a better explanation of how Stefan Batory promoted his own indisputable political or military achievements.

Wyzwania dla mediów społecznościowych w kontekście rosyjskiej dezinoformacji
Full text linkIn recent years, the European Union has adopted a number of active measures to prevent, combat and mitigate the effects of Russian disinformation. This effort relies primarily on the legislation which regulates how the media in Europe operate, with particular emphasis on large online platforms. This is due to the fact that social media are a major domain where Russian propaganda is disseminated, thus posing a threat to the election processes in democratic states. In order to safeguard such processes, the EU developed a legal framework which is discussed and reflected on in this study.In recent years, the European Union has adopted a number of active measures to prevent, combat and mitigate the effects of Russian disinformation.
