Effectiveness & User Satisfaction on the Implementation of Online Application for Admission
The rise of digital solutions in higher education has prompted Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) to implement an online application system. This study aimed to determine the efficiency and student satisfaction with this system, addressing the gap in understanding its localized effectiveness. A quantitative research design using a descriptive survey method was employed, with simple random sampling among 57 Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students. Respondents were quantitatively evaluated based on system performance and user experience. Statistical analysis was used to assess both aspects. Findings indicated general system effectiveness, indicating that students generally viewed the system as effective in terms of speed, accuracy, and user-friendliness, but revealed concerns regarding technical issues, data security, and inadequate user support. Users recognized overall functionality but noted inconsistencies and insufficient assistance during technical problems. This study contributes by identifying specific areas for improvement in educational digital platforms. Key recommendations include enhancing the user interface with clearer content and navigation, strengthening data security to build trust, and providing comprehensive user training and readily available support. Investing in robust technological infrastructure is crucial for system reliability. By addressing these areas, PIT can significantly improve user satisfaction and streamline the application process, fostering a more efficient and positive experience. This research underscores the importance of continuous improvement in digital systems to meet evolving user needs in higher education
Scholarship Management Information System for State University and Colleges in Rizal
The paper aims to design and developed a scholarship management system to optimize the processes associated with scholarship applications, including validation, monitoring, and disbursement activities. In order to assess its efficacy, the system underwent evaluation in accordance with the ISO/IEC 25010 Software Quality Standards, focusing on dimensions such as functional suitability, performance efficiency, usability, reliability, maintainability, security, and portability. A cohort of 161 participants, comprising scholars, scholarship coordinators, administrators, and IT professionals, contributed to the evaluative process. The results indicated that the system achieved an overall weighted mean score of 4.57, which corresponds to a verbal interpretation of "Highly Acceptable." The findings imply that the system satisfactorily addresses the functional and operational requirements of its users, thereby offering a dependable framework for the management of scholarship-related activities. In light of the evaluation outcomes, it is recommended that the University formally incorporate the SMIS and contemplate prospective enhancements through ongoing monitoring and additional research to optimize its influence on institutional operations
Evaluating the Effectiveness and User Satisfaction of Online Enrollment Systems in a Campus Setting: Implications for Upgrading and Enhancing Higher Education Institutions
In today’s digital age, online enrollment systems have become essential for higher education institutions. This study evaluated the effectiveness and user satisfaction of the online enrollment system at the Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT). A quantitative research design using a descriptive survey method was employed, with simple random sampling among all Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students. The findings indicate a high level of user satisfaction in terms of perceived usefulness, ease of use, and overall performance of the system. However, there are notable areas for improvement, particularly in user interface design and the accessibility of technical support. These aspects require enhancement to ensure a more seamless user experience. Moreover, the study identifies specific areas that need attention to improve the digital systems in education. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends strategic interventions, including the enhancement of the user interface for greater intuitiveness, improving the responsiveness of technical support, and implementing regular maintenance to ensure system reliability
Design and Development of Customer Satisfaction Survey system
This study focused on design and development of Customer Satisfaction Survey system. The project aimed to develop a dedicated Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS) system to address challenges such as delayed reporting and scattered feedback data across campuses. Using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) model, the system was designed, prototyped, and developed with technologies including Flutter, HTML, JavaScript, Android Studio, and phpMyAdmin. The system was evaluated by 357 respondents, including IT experts, CSS heads, and customers, using an adapted ISO 25010 Software Quality Standards checklist. Results showed that the system was rated as "Highly Acceptable" across eight key quality attributes: functional suitability, performance efficiency, compatibility, usability, reliability, security, maintainability, and portability, with an overall weighted mean of 4.67. The findings confirm that the developed system effectively meets user needs, enhances feedback management, and supports organizational quality improvements through a more efficient, technology-driven approach
The Utilization of Google Workspace as a Tool to Enhanced Teaching and Learning among the Teachers in Region 8, Philippines
This paper aimed to determine the extent, usefulness, ease of use and attitude towards the utilization of Google Workspace (formerly G Suite for Education) as a tool to enhanced teaching and learning among the teachers in Region 8, Philippines. The study employed a descriptive correlational research design utilizing survey questionnaire using simple random sampling. The findings revealed that Google Classroom had the highest frequency of utilization and Google Earth was the least utilized. Most of the respondents rated “strongly agree” on its usefulness as a tool but just rated “agree” on ease of use and attitude towards its usage. Further, Correlation analysis revealed that there is significant relationship between extent of utilization of Google Workspace and perceived usefulness but no significant relationship with ease of use and attitude. Thus, the researcher concludes that utilization of Google Workspace as a tool in teaching and learning processes is very effective to enhance educational experience
A Study on the Classification of Local Varieties of Chili Pepper Using Convolutional Neural Networks
This study focuses on the classification of local varieties of chili pepper using a convolutional neural network (CNN). The four classes of local varieties of chili pepper that will be included are Siling Labuyo (Capsicum frutescens), Siling Haba (Capsicum annuum), Siling Tingala (a hybrid of Capsicum frutescens and Capsicum annuum), and Siling Demonyo (Naga Viper pepper). The ResNet50 model will be employed as the convolutional neural network, and it will be compared against different architectures such as EfficientNet and VGG16. The configuration of hyperparameters, including learning rate and epoch, will also be explored to enhance the performance of the ResNet50 architecture. A newly created chili pepper image dataset will undergo a review and be processed through data augmentation techniques to increase the number of training data. The comparative results show that the ResNet50 model outperformed the EfficientNet and VGG16 models throughout all tests in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and precision
Design of a Robust u-Healthcare System based on Internet of Things
The efficieny and effectivity of u-healthcare systems relies on the robustness of both its hardware and software components. The efficient implementation of ubiquitous sensor networks powered by robust wireless communication technologies creating an Internet of Things (IoT), strengthens the delivery of real-time and robust healthcare system to its users. This paper deals with the application of context aware technology for an effective analysis of physiological information collected by various bio-sensors deployed in the healthcare facility environment covered by the u-healthcare system. The transmission of health information among sensors and mobile devices is then supported by the Fast Mobile Internet Protocol version 6 (FMIPv6). This is to ensure the seamless and uniterrupted delivery of health information, thus, ensuring the real-time facilitation of healthcare services
Cellular Phones versus Study Habits: A Case Study for College Students
The immature knowledge of the students about what smartphones can offer them might lead them to an unknown world. The objective of this study is to examine the effects of cellular phones on the study habits of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSInfoTech) college students of Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Palompon, Leyte. The research methodology used in the study was descriptive correlation. 61 students were given access to an online questionnaire to conduct the research. The questionnaires gathered data on the students\u27 general characteristics, gender, preferred mobile application for studying, phone usage habits, average amount of time spent studying, length of study sessions, and degree of study habit. The findings indicated a strong correlation between students\u27 cell phone use and their study habits, which was indicative of good study habits. The findings showed that students frequently utilized their phones for communication, leisure, amusement, and academic purposes. The researcher hypothesized that a mobile phone would provide them with the information they required, and most students concurred that cellular phones would not interfere with their ability to study. Rather, smartphones are progressively evolving into an intriguing educational tool that helps students study more. When used, it guarantees that students can connect digitally, access course materials, and use online learning environments
Integrating Okapi BM25 and Jaccard Algorithms in Thesis Search Engine
The integration of technology into society has brought transformative changes, enhancing efficiency and accessibility across diverse domains. In the academic realm, the role of documents, particularly in versatile soft copy formats, is pivotal. This article introduces a groundbreaking Thesis Search Engine developed in response to challenges faced by the existing thesis document repository at the College of Computer Studies. Focused on Information Technology theses, the innovative tool leverages advanced algorithms like Okapi BM25 and Jaccard to systematically organize and manage documents. The study\u27s objectives include designing search engine modules, integrating these algorithms to uncover trends and similarities in content and providing insights into the evolution of research themes. Rigorous evaluations assess data relevancy, irrelevancy, and computational efficiency. Findings reveal the efficient use of Okapi BM25 for document ranking, showcasing a user-friendly design. While Jaccard exhibits versatility, its inclination to return all similar documents raises considerations. Computational efficiency tests favor Okapi BM25, establishing its effectiveness in delivering prompt and relevant search results. The study\u27s insights contribute to optimizing the search engine and offer valuable considerations for future developments in Information Technology research, emphasizing the importance of aligning algorithms with research goals and user expectations
NLP-Based Decision Support System for PUV Management: Enhancing Services Through Passenger Feedback Analysis
This paper presents the development and evaluation of an NLP-Based Decision Support System for Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Management, focusing on enhancing services through passenger feedback analysis. The study addresses the need for improved public transportation quality in the Philippines, where PUVs play a vital role in daily commuting. The proposed system aims to digitize the passenger feedback process and utilize Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to provide decision support for PUV operators. Methodologically, the study follows a phased approach based on the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Developed primarily using PHP as the programming language, with Vanilla JS, Bootstrap, and jQuery for backend development and frontend technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6) for creating an interactive user interface, the system caters to the needs of its different users. The evaluation process incorporates the ISO 25010 standard for evaluating systems, and with the participation of 43 respondents from the province of Iloilo, the evaluation results revealed an overall mean score of 4.34, indicating an "Excellent" level of system functionality, reliability, portability, usability, performance efficiency, security, compatibility, and maintainability.
