Comparison between Rapid Test and ELISA in Cytomegalovirus Detection among Pregnant Women in Kirkuk City
Cytomegalovirus is a member of herpes virus. As CMV affects many living cell, people are at risk of acquiring it especially pregnant women and can transmit it to their fetus. The purpose of this study is to compare two common methods for Cytomegalovirus diagnosis. CMV Rapid Test is performed to detect Abs specific for CMV. Likewise ELISA technique is applied for further validation. Complete blood count is performed to compare (WBC, Hb. Lymphocyte, platelet) count between patients and control groups. By Rapid test, all patients were tested positively for IgG. However only (10.16%) of 128 patients tested positive for CMV IgM. According to ELISA, IgM positivity was only (8.59%). Regarding to CBC test there were significant differences between two groups regarding to WBC count and lymphocyte count with P value (0.0001) and (0.0001) respectively. This study concluded that CMV diagnosis in pregnant women via ELISA test is more accurate and specific than rapid test
Evaluating the role of Ultraviolet Radiation and Ozone gas in reducing Aflatoxin in Rice
The use of chemicals to break down and reduce aflatoxin, including ozone gas, is the most efficient and effective in breaking down aflatoxin, followed by ultraviolet radiation, an effective physical method means of breaking down and reducing mycotoxins. Our study aims to find a way to reduce mycotoxins in some types of rice using ultraviolet radiation (U.V) and ozone gas ( O3) . The results showed that when all types of rice (white, kulbahar, amber) were exposed to ultraviolet radiation for 60 minutes, the reduction percentage of (25.00, 12.45, 11.76)%, respectively. When exposed to ozone gas for 10 minutes, the results showed the highest percentage of reduction in aflatoxin concentration (27.50, 26.01, 34.64)%, respectively
Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices of Poultry Farmers in Kwara State Concerning Chicken Coccidiosis and Its Control
This study is aimed at exploring the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAPs) concerning chicken coccidiosis and to examine the usage of anticoccidials among poultry farmers in Kwara State, Nigeria. Information accessing the KAPs of chicken coccidiosis and its control was collected from one hundred and twenty-three poultry farmers using a semi-structured questionnaire. More number of farmers (121/123; 98.37%) had knowledge about chicken coccidiosis, with 16.26% of them documenting that it is caused by a protozoan. Higher number of the farmers believed chicken coccidiosis is economically important, preventable and treatable. More number of farmers (n = 106, 86.18%) had previously used anticoccidials in their farm compared to those that had not 17 (13.82%). The thiamine analogue alone of anticoccidial was the most used drug (n = 27, 25.47%; 95% CI = 18.14 – 34.52) used by farmers. The frequency of anticoccidial drug usage by farmers decreased as the number of drugs being used increased. Data from this study will assist the government and other relevant stakeholders in identifying areas where farmers in Kwara State need to improve their knowledge, attitude, and practice concerning chicken coccidiosis for more effective disease management and improved productivity
Network Attack Detection for Business Safety
In the technology age, the use of networks has hugely increased. this led to an increment in the number of attackers. A network attack is an try to achieve unauthorized access to personnel of an organization’s network, steal data or perform other malicious activity. Machine Learning is a subset of artificial Intelligence techniques that teaches machines to learn from historical information. In this paper, a machine learning-based approach was developed to detect network attacks. Two Machine learning models were used: Support vector machine and Artificial neural network. In this approach, a feature selection step based on the p-value is executed first to reduce the size of the dataset. After that, training and testing steps were performed. The proposed approach was tested on a real dataset collected from Kaggle. Confusion matrix, recall, precision, and f1 score were used to test the performance of the used ML techniques. The result shows the efficiency of this approach
PPG-based Vital Signs Measurement Using SmartPhone Camera: Review
Due to their growing popularity and rapid performance improvements, smartphones have the potential to be an accurate, low-cost physiological monitoring tool that is useful outside of the clinical setting. Since the cardiac pulse is responsible for the slight color changes in skin, a pulsatile signal that is also known as a photoplethysmographic (PPG) signal can be evaluated by utilizing a digital camera to record a video of your Region Of Interest (ROI).
This review Study focuses on several research works that have used PPG-based video smartphone camera methods to measure Heart Rate (HR), Blood Pressure (BP), Oxygen Saturation (SpO2), and Respiratory Rate (RR). Comparing the approaches and results of each study (HR measurement studies produced acceptable findings with error rates less than 5%, BP error rates of results less than 10%, and SpO2 =<3.5%, by comparing the predicted models reading with the standard references reading) shows how smartphone-based physiological monitoring might be used in medical settings
Influence of Using ACO Algorithm in STATCOM Performance
Flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) are technologies that rely on the use of high-power electronic equipment and advanced control methods to increase the ability of electrical transmission lines to transmit the largest amount of electrical power.Static_ synchronous _compensator (STATCOM) is one of FACTS_ family It has a rapid ability to supply or absorb reactive power from the system, traditional controller in STATCOM is (PID) or (PI). The controller is used to control the currents and voltages. In (STATCOM) there are two control loop, the inner loop which is represented by controlling the source current, and the outer loop which is used to control the voltage of the DC-link energy –storage- capacitor (vdc). Many algorithms are used in optimization to predict a specific behavior and to find the best solution for it. Two optimization methods were used Ant Colony Algorithm (ACO) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) to adjust the parameters of the outer PI controller. This unit is responsible for adjusting (vdc). The capacitor voltage is converted by the STATCOM inverter into a three-phase voltage, which is used to supply the load with required reactive power. Through the simulation and control process, the results demonstrated the effectiveness of the compensator in supplying the reactive power to the linear or non-linear loads, The results also showed that using the ACO technique that the integrated time absolute error ( ITAE) was reduced which gives more precise in adjusting the PI control parameters Which is achieved best Vd.c response ,compared with the GA and ziklur-nichlos method , by measuring the response of the lowest settling time (TS) and minimal peak overshoot (P-ov) .
Design and Simulation of Three Zones Distance Protection Scheme
This work describes the protection mechanism of transmission line at fault. Transmission line is divided into three zones and it is also provided by a backup protection MATLAB simulation was used to represent the three steps protection under single line to ground fault in different zones. Distance Relay was used to measure impedance as a part of power system, when the fault impedance dropped below the predetermined value a trip signal will transmit to the circuit breaker. MATLAB simulation is used to simulate the proposed model for three zones. The results illustrated the fault impedance at each zone and finally it has been concluded that the lower impedance is obtained at zone B (27.33 ?) in phase T
Analysis of the performance of the PV/ solar chimney: an experimental study
One of the disadvantages of solar PV systems is their low performance due to their high temperature, so the current article aims to study the performance of the PV / solar chimney, so the performance of the solar PV chimney was analyzed and studied during the months (February, March, April) of 2024, as the results showed that the lowest temperature of solar panels was during the month of February, where it reached (65.1oC ) at 12 pm, and that the highest amount of kinetic energy was also during the month of February, where it reached (15.21 MW) at 12 pm, And that the highest amount of electrical energy generated from photovoltaic panels reached during the month of April by (536,966 Watts), and the highest value of the electrical efficiency of photovoltaic panels reached during the month of February, where it reached (14.51%) at the beginning of the Test at nine in the morning, and the highest value of thermal efficiency reached during the month of April, where it reached (63.74%) at 12 pm
Experimental Investigation in Cross-Flow Heat Transfer of Air Over LFFTBHE
The heat transfer and fluid flow of airflow in a staggered flat tube bank in crossflow with laminar forced convection are experimentally investigated and presented in this study. Two rows of finned tubes were placed perpendicular to the flow direction. The air velocity varies between 0.29 m/s–1.46 m/s, and the Reynolds number approximately ranged from . The surface temperature in all tubes is constant. The dimensionless upstream fin length ( =0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1), respectively, and the dimensionless downstream fin length( the dimensionless transverse pitch ( ) of 3.0, the dimensionless longitudinal pitch ( ) =4.0, and the dimensionless fin angle ( =0.52 with constant physical properties. The results show that the Nusselt number, friction factor, and Colburn factor are inversely proportional to the upstream fin length. The percentage of deficient was 14%, 12%, and 35%, respectively, in contrast to the Bejan number, where the percentage of improvement was 11%. Correspond to the highest value of the Reynolds number. This is fully consistent with the principles of Constructal Law
Study and Analysis thermal performance of Taza gas power plant in Kirkuk –Iraq
In this research, the concept of energy balance was implemented in one of the gas turbine electricity generation units in Iraq (Kirkuk - Taza) K1. The design operating data is taken and compared with the data calculated in the computer model used by Engineering Equation Solutions (EES), and the validity of the model used was confirmed. The results indicate the release of a large amount of thermal energy into the atmosphere due to the open Brayton cycle, as energy losses amounted to 60% of the energy input. The results based on the data of the first unit of the station demonstrated that the theoretical efficiency of the unit is a function of the two variables, which are the temperature of the air entering the compressor and the Turbine inlet temperature: Increasing the compressor inlet temperature leads to a decrease in net power output and first-law efficiency and an increase in the specific fuel consumption rate. Increasing the turbine inlet temperature to 1°C leads to an improvement in both net power output and first-law efficiency by (0.24MW, and 0.04) %), respectively. The results also showed that cooling the air entering the compressor for 1°C leads to improving power output and first law efficiency by (0.72MW, and 0.12%), respectively, and reduces specific fuel consumption by 7.8kg/MWh
