Traditional investigation of intestinal protozoa in cats in Mosul city
The major pathogens which infect cats is intestinal protozoa, so this study was applied to detect these protozoa in cats through collection of fresh fecal samples from 100 cats of various ages, sexes, management (stray or companion), sources and health conditions were gathered, placed in a sterile container and examined by direct smears, flotation method and culture methods were applied to detect the protozoa then different types of staining methods were used to investigate the protozoa by using light microscope. The results showed a total 58 (58%) were positive using all the diagnostic techniques, 46% direct smear, 52% using concentration method and 58% using culturing method , the stains which can be used to detected the protozoa appear different positivity rate 52% using Lugol's iodine stain, 50% using Safranin methylene blue staining, and 58% using Acid Fast staining method and Malachite green staining. Out of 100 feces samples, 58 were found to be infected with at least one parasite (58%). Among protozoon species, three protozoal species were detected including Isospora spp. (39.7%), Cryptosporidium spp. (32.7%), and lowest rate of protozoa detected was Giardia spp. (27.8%), The infection rate of stray cats (90%), female cats showed higher prevalence of infection (64.4%) compare with male, older cats which showed less exposure to infections than younger cats (71%). The native animals recorded (72.9%). Healthy appearance animals showed low prevalence of infection compared with diarrheic animals (66.7%)
POSTHARVEST CONTROL OF ORANGE-GREEN MOLD CAUSED BY PENICILLIUM DIGITATUM USING CHITOSAN AND SALICYLIC ACID
In this study, the fungus Penicillium digitatum was isolated and identified as the causative agent of green mold disease in orange fruits based on its growth and morphological characteristics. Inhibition results showed that chitosan and salicylic acid exerted an inhibitory effect on the growth of Penicillium digitatum. Chitosan achieved complete inhibition at 1000 mg.L-1, while salicylic acid achieved 55% inhibition at a concentration of 500 mg.L-1. Treatments with chitosan and salicylic acid also reduced the incidence, disease severity, and mold area of ??stored fruit compared to untreated fruit. Furthermore, these treatments contributed to improved fruit quality during storage, reducing weight loss and increasing vitamin C and total soluble solids content TSS . After 96 hours, POD activity increased to 95.83 and 1.46 units in chitosan treatments and to 96.59 and 1.69 units, respectively, in salicylic acid treatments. It also increased the accumulation of total phenols to 16.4 and 16.3 mg.g.fw-1 in chitosan and salicylic acid treatments, respectively. These results indicate the effectiveness of chitosan and salicylic acid as antifungal agents and improve the resistance of orange fruits during storage, enhancing their potential as safe and environmentally friendly alternatives for controlling postharvest diseases
Impact of utilizing press wheels on the mechanical performance of tine and disc seeders under no-till farming conditions
No-tillage farming is one of the most important agricultural approaches. It has been used to mitigate soil degradation in the cropping systems of Ninawa. Therefore, this study aims to assess the performance of two main seeders with and without press wheels in two different soil types. A field experiment was conducted during the winter agricultural season (2023 – 2024) at two sites within semi-guaranteed rainfall areas in an agricultural field in Tel-kaif district, Nineveh Governorate. The soil at the first site was characterized by a clay texture, and at the second site by a sandy texture. The field was cultivated using conservation agriculture (Zero-tillage) with two types of specialized seeders for conservation agriculture (tine and disc) for wheat cultivation. The experiment was a factorial design with three factors in a split-split plot design with three replicates. The main plots were allocated to soil type, while the sub-plots were for studying the effect of seeders, and the sub-sub-plots were for press wheels and their mechanical impact on draft force (kN), noise (dB), and vibration (Hz). The best values were achieved in sandy soil with the tine seeder without press wheels, where the lowest draft force value was (6.28) kN. Meanwhile, clay soil with the disc seeder without press wheels recorded the lowest noise and vibration values, respectively, at (89.80 dB) and (2.30 Hz).

The results showed that for all traits under study, there are significant differences (P < 0.05) in heterosis between the hybrids. The GCA of FBWS, HDP%, EM and FCR were significantly different (P < 0.05) between the pure genetic groups. All traits were significantly different (P < 0.05) across the hybrids in the SCA, except for the ASM FBWS. The results showed that the extract of N.oleander leaves, M azedarach leaves, and fruits was significantly superior to M. arvensis and O. basilicum leaves in all tested criteria. The values of the nutrition prevention factor reached (55.5, 51.4, 51.3, 16.9, and 10.9%), respectively, while the values of the leaf protection rate reached (59.7, 57.3, 59.3, 25.7, and 20.6%) , respectively. This variation in anti-nutritional activity may be due to the variation in the types and concentrations of the active alkaloid and phenolic compounds revealed by chemical analysis. The statistical analysis showed that there was a positive and significant correlation between the nutritional intake factor and the alkaloid compounds Atropine and Xanthine, whose values reached( 0.943 and 0.947), respectively, and a significant correlation with the two phenolic compounds, Galic acid and Rutine, whose values reached (0.860 and 0.864), respectively. Hence, it can be said that N.oleander , M azedarach plants can be alternative materials to pesticides in pest management programs that rely on compounds that are safe for the environment and human health
Using GIS Spatial Analysis for Examination the Utility of the Suggested Suitability Energy Farms Over Kirkuk City
Global electricity demand is rising, prompting increased attention to renewable energy sources like solar power. This research focuses on identifying suitable areas for power lines connecting solar farms to distribution stations in Kirkuk City. Data types, including urban areas, industrial zones, farms, water bodies, and archaeological sites, were analyzed using GIS-based spatial tools. The study highlights accessible and inaccessible regions of Kirkuk's electricity transmission infrastructure, providing insights for decision-makers. The analysis categorizes areas as either benefitted or unbenefited in the context of solar farm suitability. An important consideration is the need for additional electrical distribution stations to accommodate energy transfer from these solar farms
Effects of Utilizing Black Glass Balls, Phase Change Material, and Fins on the Performance of the Single-Slope and Single-Basin Solar Water Distiller under Climate Conditions of Mosul City: An Experimental Study
The present investigation involves an experimental examination of incorporating rectangular fins, black glass balls as porous media, and phase change material (PCM) above the absorber surface to improve the effectiveness of the single-slope and single-basin solar water distiller system, known as MSS-FPPCM. Data was gathered in November and December 2023 in Mosul City, Iraq. The performance was evaluated with and without the addition of porous media at varying water depths. The results indicated that the highest basin water temperature, PCM temperature, productivity, and efficiency were achieved when utilizing fins, black glass balls, and PCM. The maximum temperatures recorded for water basin and PCM, productivity, and efficiency were 55°C, 55.4°C, 1.01 kg/m2, and 30.83%, respectively, at a water depth of 3cm. The results highlight the significant impact of porous media, phase change material, fins, and water depth on heat exchange, evaporation, and heat transfer rates
