The goal of the article is to provide a description of grammar and vocabulary-related differences in the fragments of Our Father in Polish medieval songs (until the 16th century). The fragments introduced into the texts are processed to varying degrees, from being quoted, to modified or involving a free reference to the Pater Noster. Modification was the most frequently employed form. There were four major types of modifications: lexical exchange, change in word order, adding an element and removing an element. This also indicated the reasons for introducing the changes: some of them stem from the way in which the excerpts were introduced into the text (formal changes), some are intentional (application of specific forms) and affected the form of the artistic song (rhyme, rhythm, phonaesthetics). The lack of stability of the adopted fragments is also related to the way song operated as an oral form, making it vulnerable to a variety of transpositions. At the same time, however, with all these modifications, one element remained unchanged: the expression from evil which became one of the “theological and poetic formulas” used in Polish religious poetry of the Middle Ages

The article is dedicated to literature written by women in the Kashubian language. Notably, in Kashubian literature, recent decades have witnessed a revival in women’s writing, resulting in numerous literary works. There are several reasons for this, all determined predominantly by the cultural tradition of Kashubia. The revival in the literary world of female writers and poets most certainly results from numerous complex social and cultural processes, including the growing emancipation, the need for education and opening up to the world. Women writing in Kashubian express themselves in poetry, drama and prose. The works of women writing in Kashubian can be attributed to two stages originating in the 1980s. Among the first poets and writers were Rozalia Narloch (referred to as the “Kashubian Cinderella”), Teodora Kropidłowska, writing under the pseudonym “Deotyma” and Agnieszka Browarczyk. They were followed by the novels and plays by Anna Łajming. The most prominent female authors writing in Kashubian include Maria Boszke, Krystyna Muza, Jaromira Labuda, Ida Czaja, Hanna Makurat, Wanda Kiedrowska, Ewa Warmowska, Elżbieta Bugajna, Bożena Ugowska, Lucyna Sorn, Dorota Wilczewska and Gracjana Potrykus

As a result of an analysis of folk types 461 and 930 (‘protected by fate’) their thematic and motif-based intersections in the comparative framework of European and Asian literary tradition can be identified. At the same time, these intersections are inter-culturally valid. The research shows that an invariant semanteme of all the myths, folk tales and legends studied is the unsuccessful attempt of a man of high social standing and power to kill his successor, who has been chosen by fate. This ancient narrative motif also contains the famous Biblical motifs, such as the persecution of a child, heavenly omens and the fulfilment of a prophecy

The main aim of the article is to present a complex image of the diversity, use and functions of written Slavonic idioms in the first half of the 18th century, which is the period that shortly precedes the creation of the modern national languages. This detailed view shows that the number of the written varieties was much larger, and the function structure of the single languages and varieties in each speech community was more complex than now. The article also discusses the methodological issues linked to the studies on the pre-national languages and tries to find the common patterns of variety hierarchy in each of the main cultural areas of the Slavonic world

The paper discusses selected Lower Sorbian idiomatic expressions with somatic components. The author talks about somatisms and somatic phraseology in general, as well as presents different types of idiomatic motivation. A theoretical section is followed by the presentation of a corpus of somatic idioms taken from Dolnoserbsko-nimski słownik/Niedersorbisch-deutsches Wörterbuch by Manfred Starosta. The analysis of the idiomatic expressions shows how Lower Sorbian somatic phraseological units make use of somatic lexemes, as well as demonstrates the various types of motivation behind the actual senses of the examined expressions
