The current study aimed to examine the coverage of climate change by Mongolian media, with a particular focus on news websites, the most widely accessed by the public form of media. The research encompassed an analysis of five websites, evaluating a total of 388 news articles related to the topic of climate change. The findings of the analysis indicate that while climate change has been covered to some degree across websites, there has been a marked increase in coverage since 2021. Notably, among the websites studied, Gogo.mn, despite posting a smaller volume of articles, has consistently reported on climate change and like other websites, has substantially expanded its coverage on climate change in the past two years. This heightened attention to climate change can be attributed to the policies and programs implemented by the Government of Mongolia, as well as broader global shifts in focus toward this critical issue. In terms of types of content published, approximately 70 percent were news reports. The media plays a prominent role in disseminating the necessary knowledge and fostering the skills required for the public to adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Therefore, in addition to regular news updates, it is essential to have dedicated radio programs, TV shows, and website sections that continuously feature articles and columns on climate change

Ecological Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in Soil in Uliastai soum, Zavkhan Province, Western Mongolia: Завхан аймгийн Улиастай сумын хөрсний хүнд металлаас экологид үзүүлэх эрсдэлийн үнэлгээ

This study investigated the presence of heavy metals in the soils of Uliastai soum, Zavkhan province, and compared the findings with previous soil sample analyses from 2022. A total of 20 soil samples were collected and analyzed for 33 elements at an SGS-accredited laboratory. Particular attention was given to nine heavy metals (As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, V, Zn) known for their harmful effects on environmental and human health. The concentrations of these metals were compared against Mongolian national standards (MNS 5850:2019) and international benchmarks. Although all measured concentrations were below the permissible limits, geo-accumulation index (Igeo) and ecological risk index (Er) assessments revealed that certain elements fell within the “moderately to highly polluted” and “highly polluted” categories. Notably, elevated ecological risks were identified for arsenic (As) and lead (Pb) at specific sampling sites. Enrichment factor (EF) analysis indicated “moderate” to “more than moderate” enrichment for elements such as Cu, Zn, and Ni, suggesting anthropogenic sources of contamination. High contamination levels near a car repair shop, a boiler house, and a meat processing plant further point to insufficient environmental regulation in those areas. The lowest ecological risk value, 5.54, was observed in a sample near the car repair shop. Overall, while the current threat from heavy metals in Uliastai’s soils appears low, localized accumulation poses potential long-term risks to environmental stability

Since the 1970s, the global approach to foreign language education has shifted. Language is no longer viewed solely from a linguistic-structural perspective but also in terms of its pragmatic use, connecting it to everyday life needs. As a result, new methodologies and concepts have emerged in translation techniques and teaching approaches. Mastering a language generally requires developing four essential skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The goal of foreign language education is to help students acquire these skills in a balanced manner. However, in practice, it is often observed that university graduates specializing in foreign languages do not achieve sufficient proficiency in writing skills. When applying the knowledge acquired in their home country to real-life situations abroad, individuals frequently need to translate between their native language and the foreign language. This requires practical translation skills in both directions. Therefore, helping students reach a writing proficiency level that meets this demand is a key objective of the educational process. AbstracIn this study, we examine how students’ official document writing skills in both their native and foreign languages can be improved by analyzing the content of translation courses in the Japanese language program at the University of Humanities

    Abstraction principle in Case Law

    No full text
In the last two years, there has been a trend towards courts relying on the principle of abstraction in resolving disputes related to real estate. This has created certain difficulties for lawyers who have been applying the principle of unity of contract for many years. For example, the issue of when and in what form causal and abstract contracts are established according to the principle of abstraction, as well as whether contractual obligations related to real estate are subject to formal requirements, has been a subject of considerable debate. The article aims to compare the content of the principle of abstraction of contracts with the relevant German doctrine and the relevant regulations used and interpreted in Mongolian judicial practice, draw conclusions about the correct understanding and application of this principle. Энэ нь хэлцэл нэгдмэл байх зарчмыг олон жилийн турш хэрэглэж ирсэн хуульчдад тодорхой хүндрэлийг бий болгож байна.
