The Law on the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition has regulated various types of agreements and business activities. This regulation is made to maintain healthy business competition, because of its significant impact toward society. One of the activities which is prohibited and difficult to prove is cartel practices. Cartels are generally carried out in secret, hence the use of indirect evidence. The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) as the sole authority for business competition is the institution responsible for handling cartel practices and utilizing indirect evidence. However, to this day KPPU’s authority seems to be limited, resulting in a less optimal handling of cartel practices. KPPU has had various permits ranging from investigations to imposing sanctions, but the handling of cartel practices is often hampered by the lack of authority to search and confiscate. In addition, the unclear legality of indirect evidence in Indonesia also restricts the resolution of cartel cases, and causes inconsistency in court decisions. This article presents the results of the analysis related to KPPU’s authority and the use of indirect evidence in handling cartel practices. With in-depth discussions and a relevant case example, it can be seen whether KPPU’s current authority is sufficient to handle cartel practices while maintaining healthy business competition

The phenomenon of the high use of technology-based loans is one of the things that needs attention. The high level of usage must be accompanied by adequate supervision. One form of supervision can be carried out through aspects of business competition in the online lending industry. Recently, the Competition Supervisory Commission as the supervisory body for business competition has found that 97 companies in the online lending industry have set loan interest rates that exceed the regulated interest rates, which if this is proven, then the business actors have violated Article 5 of Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition. The research method used in writing this article is a normative research method, with data collected from laws and regulations to reports from media coverage. The results show that the allegations against online lending platforms are less relevant, but investigations by KPPU in following up on the potential for unfair business competition practices still need to be carried out to uphold justice in providing certainty for the public

The rapid development of the digital economy has fundamentally transformed the landscape of business competition in Indonesia, which was originally regulated under classical principles embodied in Law No. 5 of 1999 concerning the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition. This study aims to examine the relevance and effectiveness of traditional competition law principles in addressing emerging challenges posed by digital business models, the use of algorithms, and digital platform ecosystems. In this context, the Indonesia Competition Commission (KPPU) faces significant challenges in defining digital markets, identifying anti-competitive behavior, and addressing cross-border business actors. The study also highlights the need for regulatory reform, including legal amendments and policy harmonization with international standards, as well as the enhancement of institutional capacity through information technology and global cooperation. This research seeks to provide responsive and adaptive policy recommendations to support fair business competition in the digital era

    Get PDF

Objek penelitian adalah film A Man Called Ahok (2018) karya Putrama Tuta. Abstract This study seeks to analyze the audience reception of a film using Stuart Hall’s Encoding-Decoding Theory. The research object of this study is Putrama Tuta’s 2018 film, “A Man Called Ahok”. The research questions are : 1) What is the audience reception expected by the creators of the film A Man Called Ahok?; 2) What is the public's reception of the film A Man Called Ahok?; 3) Is there any difference in reception between audiences of Chinese ethnicity and Indigenous ethnicity?; 4) Does the film A Man Called Ahok cause any change in the audience’s perception of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama? The research method used is the audience reception analysis method with a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with director Putrama Tuta and online interviews with 20 audience members who are employees with Jakarta IDs, divided into four categories: Chinese ethnic males, Chinese ethnic females, Indigenous ethnic males, and Indigenous ethnic females. Results of the research indicate that: 1) The audience reception expected by Putrama Tuta is for the film to influence children to become people who make an impact on society, and for fathers to be moved to educate their children like Ahok’s father; 2) The audience reception falls into the Negotiated category; 3) There is no significant difference between audiences of Chinese and Indigenous ethnicities in terms of their reception of the film A Man Called Ahok; 4) All four groups of informants did not experience any change in their perception of Ahok after watching the film A Man Called Ahok. The research results were analyzed using the Encoding-Decoding Theory perspective by Stuart Hal

The Relationship Between Stroke Subtypes and Cognitive Function in Ischemic Stroke Patients at Siloam Hospital Lippo Village

    Get PDF
Introduction: Stroke is the second leading cause of death and a major cause of disability worldwide, including in Indonesia, and has an impact on cognitive function. Stroke can be classified based on the Bamford system into: Lacunar Infarct (LACI), Partial Anterior Circulation Infarct (PACI), Posterior Circulation Infarct (POCI), and Total Anterior Circulation Infarct (TACI), each with distinct clinical characteristics and lesion locations. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stroke subtypes and cognitive function in ischemic stroke patients using the MoCA- Ina questionnaire, to understand the clinical symptom differences and predict anatomical lesion sites in ischemic stroke subtypes based on the Bamford classification. Methods: This was a cross-sectional analytical study involving 40 ischemic stroke patients. Data were collected using the MoCA-Ina questionnaire to assess the cognitive function of ischemic stroke patients. Results: There was a significant relationship between stroke subtypes (anterior vs. posterior circulation) and cognitive function in ischemic stroke patients (P-value = 0.000), where patients with anterior circulation involvement showed greater cognitive impairment than those with posterior involvement. Conclusions: There is an association between stroke subtype and cognitive function in ischemic stroke patients at Siloam Hospital Lippo Village, particularly affecting the cognitive domains of language, delayed recall, abstraction, and attention

Supraorbital Approach For Tuberculum Sellae Meningioma

    Get PDF
Introduction: Tuberculum sellae meningiomas pose significant surgical challenges due to their proximity to critical neurovascular structures. Pterional craniotomy has been the conventional method for approaching anterior skull base lesions, while the supraorbital eyebrow approach has emerged as an alternative in selected cases.Case Presentation: We report the case of a 50-year-old woman with progressive left temporal hemianopia due to a tuberculum sellae meningioma. The tumor was resected via left supraorbital approach, achieving gross total resection. Estimated intraoperative blood loss 50 mL, and total operative time 185 minutes. Histopathological examination confirmed WHO Grade I meningioma. Postoperative recovery was uneventful. Contrast-enhanced brain MRI at 3-month follow-up showed no residual or recurrent tumor. Discussion: Surgical management of tuberculum sellae meningiomas is particularly challenging because of their proximity to critical structures. Conventional approaches provide wide exposure but require extensive soft tissue and bone manipulation. The supraorbital eyebrow approach offers a minimally invasive keyhole route. In our case, it allowed safe gross total resection, preservation of neurovascular function, and rapid postoperative recovery. Conclusion: This case highlights the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of the supraorbital eyebrow approach for resecting anterior skull base meningiomas. Keywords: Anterior skull base surgery; Eyebrow craniotomy; Keyhole approach; Minimally invasive; Supraorbital approach; Tuberculum sellae meningiom

Carotid Endarterectomy Versus Carotid Artery Stenting With Double-Layer Micromesh Stent in Carotid Angioplasty: Network Meta-Analysis

    Get PDF
Introduction: Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) remains the gold standard for carotid stenosis, but modern carotid artery stenting (CAS) with double-layer micromesh stents (e.g., CGuard, Roadsaver [RS]) offers potential reductions in peri-procedural embolic risk. However, comparative evidence between CEA and modern CAS remains limited. Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Europe PMC (June 23,2025) identified randomized and observational studies on symptomatic or high grade asymptomatic carotid stenosis using terms including “double-layer stent,” “micromesh,” “Roadsaver,” “CGuard,” and “carotid endarterectomy.” Reviews, meta analyses, and case reports were excluded. Comparisons included single-layer CAS vs. CEA, single-layer CAS vs. CGuard/RS, and indirect CEA vs. CGuard/RS. Outcomes were neurological complications and neurological death. Study quality was assessed using Cochrane RoB 2.0 and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). A frequentist random effects network meta-analysis was performed using MetaInsight. Results: Eleven studies (7 RCTs, 4 observational; n=9483) were included. Seven had moderate RoB 2.0 risk, while three observational studies had fair quality and one study had good quality according to NOS. No significant difference was detected in neurological complications between CEA and CGuard/RS (OR 0.79; 95% CI 0.34-1.80), and neurological death was similar among CEA, CGuard/RS, and CAS. When compared with conventional CAS, CEA (OR 0.90; 95% CI 0.69–1.18) and CGuard/RS (OR 1.04; 95% CI 0.30–3.65) showed no significant differences. The direct comparison between CEA and CGuard/RS also demonstrated no significant effect (OR 0.86; 95% CI 0.24–3.11).Conclusions: This study found no significant differences in stroke prevention or safety CEA and DLMS. Larger comparative studies are required to establish their relative clinical effectiveness. Keywords: carotid artery stenting; carotid endarterectomy; micromesh stent; single layer stent; strok
