This study examines the influence of financial literacy, family financial education, and financial behavior on the intention to borrow from online loans/P2P Lending among university students in Manado. Using a quantitative associative approach, data were collected from 100 respondents through an online questionnaire and analyzed with Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that financial literacy significantly influences borrowing intention, while family financial education does not significantly affect either borrowing intention or financial behavior. Moreover, financial behavior does not mediate the relationship between financial literacy or family financial education and borrowing intention. These results emphasize the importance of financial literacy in shaping students’ financial decision-making, while suggesting that family-based financial education alone may not be sufficient. This study contributes to financial literacy and fintech borrowing literature, offering insights for policymakers, universities, and fintech providers to promote responsible borrowing behavior among student

    Get PDF
Sustainable entrepreneurship is vital for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in emerging economies facing environmental and market pressures. This study investigates how green entrepreneurial self-efficacy (GESE), green entrepreneurial orientation (GEO), and green innovation (GI) influence the economic performance of SMEs in Jakarta, Indonesia. Drawing on the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Dynamic Capabilities (DC) theory, the study examines both direct effects and the mediating role of GI. A quantitative approach was employed using survey data from 95 SME owners who implement green practices. Analysis with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) revealed that GEO significantly promotes GI, while GESE does not. GI strongly enhances economic performance and mediates the relationship between GEO and economic performance, but not between GESE and performance. These findings extend RBV and DC by showing that strategic orientation, when translated into innovation, drives SME competitiveness, whereas self-efficacy alone is insufficient. The study offers theoretical contributions and practical implications for strengthening green strategies and innovation capacity in SMEs

The waste problem is increasingly becoming a problem in Yogyakarta because the Piyungan landfill is considered not to fulfill the waste capacity of Yogyakarta and its surroundings. The plan to close the Piyungan landfill for revitalization and the issue of “zero inorganic waste” is the rationale for developing an inorganic waste processing technique, especially glass bottle waste. Glass bottle waste is one of the inorganic waste that is difficult to process; therefore this study chose to focus on glass bottle waste. There are several factories in West Java and East Java that process glass crumbling, but none in the Yogyakarta area. One of the many potentials in Yogyakarta is the clay processing into pottery or ceramics. This is one of the reasons for trying to develop glass waste processing techniques utilizing similar technology to clay processing, namely using a kiln. The long-term goal of this research is to provide an alternative to processing glass bottle waste locally by the local potential in Yogyakarta. Glass bottle waste will be tested by burning it with a pottery kiln widely used by craftsmen in DIY. The experimental method based on goal formulation will be used as a strategic design development to achieve this goal. The experiment will start with cutting the glass bottles and then continue transforming the shape into functional products using the heat (flameworking) of the furnace with the setting of the burning time and cooling time adjusted. The experiment will look for the efficiency of the burn time related to the amount of fuel used in the realization of the product and the calculation of cooling time in making disposable products from glass bottle waste

The presence of political buzzers on social media has a significant impact on the political map in Indonesia, especially in terms of spreading hoaxes and misleading information that can damage the reputation of certain individuals or groups. This phenomenon has the potential to cause unrest in the community, especially in the context of elections and democratic stability. This research aims to analyze the application of law against political buzzers in Indonesia, as well as identify the elements of political buzzer actions that can cause public unrest. The research method used is normative-empirical legal research, by collecting secondary data in the form of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, which are then reinforced by interviews with relevant sources. The results showed that although there are laws and regulations, such as Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions, the application of law against political buzzers has not been effective. This is due to the ineffective application of the offense of complaint which depends on the initiative of the aggrieved party, as well as the complexity of political dynamics. This research also found that political buzzers can be categorized based on the rewards received and the purpose of disseminating controversial and damaging information.

Intellectual Property (IP) theft poses severe challenges to global innovation, particularly in the automotive sector. Counterfeit products, including critical safety components, infiltrate legitimate markets, creating a “dirty economy” that undermines consumer trust and stifles technological progress. Notable cases, such as Mercedes-Benz's global crackdown on counterfeit parts and trade secret theft incidents involving major automakers, illustrate the scale and impact of IP infringement. These issues are compounded by the rise of counterfeit goods, which not only impose financial losses but also endanger public safety, fuel organized crime, and discourage investment in research and development (R&D). The economic repercussions extend beyond immediate financial damage, hindering advancements in emerging technologies like electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous systems, and connectivity. Blockchain technology emerges as a revolutionary solution to these challenges. With its decentralized, immutable, and tamper-resistant structure, blockchain provides a robust framework for secure IP protection. Key features, such as distributed ledgers, smart contracts, and public key cryptography, enable precise tracking of IP rights and automated enforcement of agreements, eliminating the need for intermediaries. Blockchain’s inherent transparency and resilience address vulnerabilities in traditional IP protection mechanisms, fostering trust and reliability. This abstract explores the consequences of IP theft on innovation and the transformative potential of blockchain in safeguarding intellectual property, focusing on its application in the automotive sector. The analysis highlights the necessity of integrating blockchain technology to mitigate risks, protect innovation-driven industries, and sustain economic growth in the face of escalating IP theft

Cross-Border Music Sampling: Navigating American and Japanese Laws on The Weeknd’s “Out of Time”

    Get PDF
The global music industry has experienced a significant rise in cross-border collaborations, driven by digital technology that enables artists to sample music from a wide range of cultures and genres. This digital revolution has not only fostered creativity but also led to a blending of musical traditions, allowing for fresh sounds and global connections. However, the practice of music sampling presents complex legal challenges, particularly with regard to copyright law, which varies across different countries. Musicians must navigate the dual copyrights of music compositions and sound recordings, each with its own set of rules and protections. This often leads to legal disputes over unauthorized sampling, as artists may unknowingly infringe on another creator’s rights. To sample music from foreign artists, musicians must obtain permission from both the copyright holder of the composition and the sound recording, which involves understanding and respecting the moral rights of the original creators. This process can be particularly challenging for emerging artists who may lack the necessary industry connections to negotiate with major record labels or copyright holders. In many cases, securing sample clearance can be a costly and time-consuming process, making it difficult for independent musicians to use samples legally. The balance between creativity and intellectual property protection is essential in ensuring that copyright laws protect original creators' rights while still promoting innovation and artistic expression. By respecting these laws, sampling can remain a powerful tool for creativity while ensuring that the growing global music industry operates within legal boundaries, benefiting both artists and creators alike
