Board Gender Diversity and IPO Price Formation in Indonesia

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the effect of gender diversity in boards of commissioners and directors on the level of underpricing on the first trading day following an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in Indonesia. The data used consist of companies that conducted IPOs in Indonesia dure in Indonesia during the period 2021-2024. The results indicate that in the Indonesian market, investors place greater emphasis on firms’ fundamental factors rather than gender-related aspects when making investment decisions at the time of an IPO. Market Capitalization, Return on Assets (ROA), and Share Overhang (SO) are found to be significant variables. This study contributes to the literature on factors influencing stock market performance during IPOs and provides practical implications for firms and regulators in formulating IPO strategies. Future research could be extended by incorporating additional factors such as financial characteristics, macroeconomic conditions, and managerial aspects in shaping investor decision-making

Inflation as a Trigger for Changes in Financial Behaviour People Shift from Saving to Investing

    Get PDF
Investment is a financial strategy chosen by individuals to preserve and grow wealth. In recent years, investment activity in Indonesia has increased amid a downward trend in inflation. This reflects a shift in financial behaviour, where inflation is no longer seen solely as a threat but also as a driver for moving from saving to investing. As people become aware of inflation’s impact on purchasing power, they increasingly allocate funds to more profitable investment instruments. This study uses a behavioural finance approach and macroeconomic data from 2019 to 2024 to illustrate the pattern. The analysis shows that declining inflation, along with rising financial literacy, has significantly contributed to investment growth

A Garden on Via Giulia Reconnecting the City, the Archeology and the Tiber

    Get PDF
The unfinished garden on Via Giulia in Rome, situated between Piazza della Moretta and Lungotevere, presents a unique and significant architectural opportunity. Although the Tiber River is nearby, it remains obscured by Lungotevere, disconnecting it from the urban landscape. Restoring this relationship, which has been severed by embankments built to protect the city from flooding—a danger now heightened by climate change—is both desirable and essential. Many initiatives have attempted to rejuvenate the riverbank, yet they often fail to establish a true connection with the city above. To create a more meaningful and lasting connection, any development on the riverbank must resonate with the urban context above the embankment, potentially starting within the city itself and descending gradually to the river’s edge. The original design confines the garden within its boundaries, focusing solely on its character as a domestic Roman garden. However, this approach misses the opportunity to restore its relationship with the Tiber. This paper proposes to use the new urban garden on Via Giulia as a starting point for this endeavor. The garden on Via Giulia could embrace a broader vision, aiming to reconnect with the river that has profoundly influenced Rome’s history

Cityhub Plaza Design at SCBD With Modern Urban Oasis Approach

    Get PDF
Jakarta as an economic center makes it one of the busiest cities in Indonesia. The rapid economic activity is reinforced by the term “Golden Triangle”, where this imaginary triangle stretches through three main business districts, and SCBD is one of the district. The design will be carried out at SCBD which is dominated by the productive generations (Generation Z). In addition, the status of SCBD as a word class business district needs to support its business activities through MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) and one thing that could support this is the existence of a business hotel. However, SCBD also has disadvantage, which is a limited open space due to the massive buildings. A mixed-used design is proposed in the form of Cityhub Plaza at SCBD that carry the concept of a Modern Urban Oasis

From Melodies to Legalities: The Clash of Law and Song Parodies in Indonesia

    Get PDF
The article examines the complexities of song parodies under Indonesian copyright law, particularly in light of Law No. 28 of 2014, which aims to align domestic regulations with international standards while promoting a creative economy. It highlights the cultural significance of song parodies in Indonesia, where they serve as tools for social commentary and artistic expression. However, the legal framework lacks explicit provisions for parody, creating ambiguity regarding their status as transformative works versus potential copyright infringements. The case study of D'Masiv's song "Dilema," accused of plagiarism against the British band Muse, illustrates these tensions and raises questions about originality and inspiration in artistic creation. The research employs a qualitative methodology to analyze legal frameworks and case studies, revealing that while Indonesian law provides a foundation for copyright protection, it does not adequately address the nuances of parody. This lack of clarity stifles creativity and leaves both creators and rights holders vulnerable. The article argues for the necessity of legal reforms to explicitly recognize parody as a legitimate form of expression, suggesting that Indonesia could benefit from adopting clearer criteria similar to those in jurisdictions like the United States and the European Union. By enhancing legal protections for parodists, Indonesia can foster a more dynamic creative environment while balancing the rights of original creators with the public's interest in cultural discourse

Juridical Analysis: Assessing Indonesia's Legal Safeguards Against Malaysian Infringement Claims on Batik Under Law No. 28 of 2014

    Get PDF
Copyright is an important aspect of intellectual property rights, especially for protecting artistic creations and recognizing the ownership of creators. These rights empower authors with comprehensive control over their works, ensuring they receive appropriate recognition and financial compensation for their contributions. The case of Malaysia's claims over batik, a traditional Indonesian textile art, illustrates a significant challenge to these rights. Malaysia's assertion of ownership over batik, despite its deep cultural roots in Indonesia, exemplifies the critical nature of this issue. This misattribution raises serious concerns regarding copyright infringement and the respect for intellectual property rights. Article 38 of Law No. 28 of 2014 explicitly recognizes traditional cultural expressions, including batik, is specifically mentioned as having distinct protections due to its cultural significance and artistic value. This legal framework aims to safeguard Indonesia's rich cultural heritage from unauthorized claims and misappropriation by other nations. The study seeks to explore how Indonesia can effectively defend its cultural heritage against Malaysian infringement claims concerning batik. It highlights the importance of robust legal mechanisms and international cooperation in addressing such disputes. Furthermore, it emphasizes the need for Indonesia to assert its rights within the framework of the World Trade Organization, reinforcing its commitment to protecting its cultural expressions on a global scale

ARVANA UNTUK NEGARA: INSTRUMEN STRATEGIS DALAM MENGKATALISASI DISRUPSI TRANSPARANSI APBN UNTUK OPTIMALISASI IKLIM INVESTASI BERKELANJUTAN DI INDONESIA

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the effect of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) on the company's financial performance before and after the Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. GCG is measured through indicators of managerial ownership, institutional ownership, proportion of independent commissioners, and audit committee. Financial performance is proxied by Return on Asset (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Price Book Value (PBV). This study uses secondary data from the financial statements of companies conducting IPOs within a certain period, and regression analysis and t-test are conducted. The results show that the implementation of GCG generally has a positive influence on financial performance, especially after IPO, although not all GCG indicators have a significant effect partially. This finding confirms the importance of GCG implementation in improving firm performance and value, especially in the face of changes in ownership structure and transparency after IPO

Tuberculoma With Visual and Vestibular Symptoms in A β-Thalassemia Patient: A Case Report

    Get PDF
Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can affect the lungs (pulmonary TB) as well as other organs (extrapulmonary TB), including the central nervous system (CNS). The number of TB cases in Indonesia remains high, with 969,000 cases reported in 2021. Tuberculoma is a manifestation of TB in the CNS, presenting as an intracranial mass due to the spread of TB from other organs. It is a rare and serious form of CNS TB infection. The presence of congenital β-thalassemia adds complexity to the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of tuberculoma. Case Description: A 25-year-old female with a history of β-thalassemia HbE intermedia with a major phenotype presented with the main complaint of blurred vision in the lower right visual field. The patient also experienced vertigo, headache, and a history of seizures. Examination revealed inferior right quadrantanopia, anemia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia. Imaging and CSF analysis supported a diagnosis of intracranial tuberculoma. The patient was treated with anti-TB medication and intravenous dexamethasone. Discussion: Patients with thalassemia may have an increased risk of TB infection, including CNS TB. Tuberculoma involves granuloma formation in the brain, often in the meninges and cerebrum. Its manifestations vary and can include headaches and seizures. Diagnosis is based on clinical history, radiological findings, and laboratory results. The patient’s symptoms and imaging findings supported a diagnosis of tuberculoma, for which anti-TB and neurorestorative therapy was administered. Conclusions: Tuberculoma, as a manifestation of CNS TB, presents with variable and non-specific symptoms. Visual field disturbances can be one of the presenting symptoms that aid in diagnosis. Clinical, radiological, and laboratory evaluations are necessary for prompt and accurate diagnosis. Treatment involves anti-TB therapy and dexamethasone. This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis and comprehensive management of complex extrapulmonary TB infections. &nbsp
