The Influence of Consumption Values on Green Purchase Intention: A Moderated Mediation of Greenwash Perceptions and Green Trust

    Get PDF
Recent years have spotted a major boost in consumers turning to green consumption due to escalating sustainable development. Following this, how consumption values, green trust and greenwash affect green purchase intention remain unexplored in emerging economy. Drawing on the theory of consumption, this research examines the relationship among consumption values, green trust, and green purchase intention. Furthermore, this research also assesses the moderating results of greenwash perception on the relationship between consumption values and green trust in the context of China. Surveys were collected from 207 Chinese organic food consumers at different shopping marts. This research applies the structural equation model (SEM) by using Smart PLS 2.0. The study reveals that functional value (quality and price), and social value have significant effects on green trust. Green trust proves to be a significant mediator between the consumption values and green purchase intention. Moreover, greenwash perceptions have a significant moderating effect on the relationship between consumption values involving functional value quality and epistemic value, and green trust. This study offers a new insight by combining green trust and greenwash perceptions with consumption theory. This study urges firms to place attention on the green trust through paying focus on relevant consumption values, which will help them to leverage the green purchase intention.

    Get PDF
Current Study investigated how RIASEC personality traits impact the crystallization of occupational preferences among young adolescents via theoretical lens of vocational choice theory. A sample of 1147 students ranging from 13 to 21 years was used to test RIASEC model. Results using Holland’s RIASEC Scale test (1997) depicted a significant impact of RIASEC personality traits in occupational preferences. Gender appeared to be a strong determinant in variation pattern of vocational choice. Understanding these patterns can help students, parents, policy makers and academic institutions in helping young adolescents in making better career choices and in turn will direct human resource to most optimal productive path in an economy

The Role of Financial Development in Human Capital Development: An Evidence from Pakistan

    Get PDF
The present paper studies the effects of financial development on the human capital development of Pakistan. An annual time series data over the period of 1991 to 2016 is used. Financial development is measured through three proxies, which are, bank deposits, broad money supply, and domestic credit to the private sector (DCPS). In addition, human capital development is measured by the human development index (HDI). The empirical findings indicate that a strong financial institution enhances human capital development in Pakistan. Similarly, the inflow of remittances increases human capital development. On the contrary, the unemployment rate, and a large population reduces the development of human capital. Thus, the findings of the present paper recommend some useful insights for the policymakers of Pakistan

    Get PDF
The purpose of this research study is to examine the influence of online shopping service quality on online shopping intention with the mediating role of online shopping drivers and the moderating role of offline brand trust. The authors collected the data from 167 university students across Pakistan. Structural equation modeling was used to analysis the data using AMOS. The results confirmed that online shopping service quality promotes online shopping intention, while online shopping drivers mediated the effect of online service quality on online shopping intention (the major contributions of the current study in the literature of online shopping intention). Furthermore, the results did not support the moderating role of offline brand trust on the relationship between online shopping drivers and online shopping intention. The authors took guidance from unified theory of acceptance and use of technology to explain the relationships among the constructs. The implications are further discussed at the end

Self-Serving Counterproductive Work Behaviors: The Development and Validation of a Scale

    Get PDF
Within the body of knowledge in counterproductive work behaviors (CWB), a large majority of researchers categorizes these behaviors under the common rubrics of theft, aggression, violence, sabotage, alcohol use, substance abuse, and absenteeism. However, researchers indicate that the current inventories of counterproductive work behaviors are not applicable to all contexts, situations, and jobs. The current study aims to extend the scope of available inventories of CWB by developing and validating a scale for selfserving counterproductive work behaviors by following scale development guidelines by Hinkin (1998) in two independent studies. An EFA, and CFA performed in study 1 revealed that the finally retained eight items showed an alpha reliability coefficient of 0.83, whereas the CFA results confirmed for the convergent and discriminant validities. Moreover, the replication of the scale psychometrics in study 2 corroborated the convergent and discriminant validity of the developed scale with an internal consistency value of 0.79. This study contributes in the growing body of literature in CWB domain as the first study to develop a scale for the measurement of self-serving CWB as a distinct category of negative behaviors and holds significant implications for theory and practice. The study further discusses theoretical implications, limitations, and directions for future research

Financial Development and Ecological Footprint: A Global Panel Data Analysis

    Get PDF
This study examines the environmental effects of financial development using a comprehensive indicator of ecological footprint for a panel of 131 countries from 1971 to 2017. For the empirical analysis, pooled ordinary least squares (OLS), fixed effects model, random effects model, Driscoll-Kraay (DK) standard errors, and system generalized method of moments (GMM) are employed. The findings reveal that all indicators of financial development namely domestic credit to private sector, domestic credit to private sector by banks, and domestic credit provided by financial sector significantly help to improve the environmental quality by reducing the ecological footprint. Comparatively, the effect of domestic credit to private sector is stronger than other measures of financial development. Similarly, urbanization has been accompanied by the significant reduction in ecological footprint. In contrast, energy consumption, foreign direct investment (FDI), and GDP per capita worsen the environmental quality by increasing the ecological footprint. The study also validates the existence of “pollution haven hypothesis” for the global economy. Findings of the study have global implications. In general, financial sector has the potential to support the global efforts towards environmental protection. However, regional or country specific experiences can differ depending upon the financial sector priority towards environmental protection

    Get PDF
The purpose of this empirical study is to examine the relationship between social entrepreneurship and sustainable enterprise development. Four dimensions of social entrepreneurship i.e. social mission, social innovation, social networking, and financial returns are regressed with three dimensions of sustainable enterprise development i.e. social, environmental, and economic. In current literature, most of the work in the field of social entrepreneurship is qualitative in nature and none of the existing studies explained the impact of labeling “social enterprise” as a source of enterprise sustainability and this study used positivist paradigm to test this impact. Data was collected from social entrepreneurs and employees of social enterprises via online questionnaire (n=434) developed and distributed through “Google Docs”. Social entrepreneurs from 41 different countries participated in online survey. The results of the study reveal that social entrepreneurship results in sustainable enterprise development. The study supports the fact that one of the important factors in enterprise development is the way the enterprise is managed and the label of „social enterprise‟ is resulting in sustainable development of social enterprise itself. The research contributes to literature by empirically testing the relationship between social entrepreneurship and sustainable enterprise development which was never tested before. The study used a unique methodology that results in gathering of data from 41 countries of the world. This results of this study can be used by social entrepreneurs to create more positive impact for the society
