Get PDFIn this article, author deals the subject of Zygmunt Bauman’s four patterns of personality as an attribute of postmodern people. This analysis aims to check if the shared qualities of the personality models might have emerged in the past. A certain type of individuals, which is resulting from Bauman’s patterns, needs a reference to the conception of societies that are provided by the research of Guy Debord, Michel Foucault and Michel de Certeau. This comparison makes it possible to verify the validity of the patterns, as well as answer the question, if they are a diagnosis of the culture, or rather a speculation, that is out of touch with reality

The author suggests that this movie should be interpreted not only through the prism of the significant Polish historical events it describes (the state of the Polish society of the 70s and the 80s). The article also touches upon the political events that the movie was connected to and the artistic visions that accompanied the director during the making of the movie. The author of the article while describing every subsequent artistic device tries to build the whole interpretation of the movie

Get PDFIn the paper author makes an attempt to characterise a definition of media democracy. Author argues that nowadays the most important factor that determine a political system are media. He also point out to negative and positive aspects of „media democracy”, simultaneously describing the phenomenon of media influence on political discourse. Author considers „media logic”, broadly and profoundly defined in the paper, as the crucial determinant of mass media and political actors’ behavior. Author also emphasises the problem of infotainment, symbiosis of media and politics as well as the phenomenon of media pluralism

Get PDFThe aim of this article is to provide an answer to the question whether or not Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s government consciously intends to undermine the traditional secularity. This feature is not only a foundation of the state but also a pillar of Turkey’s candidacy to EU. A research method that was used in the article is an analysis of evolution of the principle of separation of state and church in the AKP era based on several decisions made by institutions of public administration. Decisions which were objects of an analysis are inter alia acceptation for presence of Muslim women covering their heads in the public area and tightening the censorship which seems to be only a part of comprehensive political plan consequently implemented by the ruling party

Get PDFOne of the dimensions of axiological values’ and agendas’ presence in the public sphere is seeing worldview as being political. Due to the nature of the phenomenon of belief as well as the category of politics, proposed consideration of these issues in the analysis of political science may be a discursive approach. Mechanisms which are revealing on the basis of discourse allow to specify categories of naturalization and pragmatism as the two basic types of articulation. As a result, we can identify examples of the implications of this phenomenon that have been identified in the form of SEP (somebody’s else problem) and tensions within the public-private dichotomy

Get PDFDemocracy is not an ideal system and probably will never be, but it still aspires to be ideal. What’s more, democracy is not only an institution, but a set of ideals, which are crucial to make this system function effectively. A citizen − active, committed and aware of his influence to a country − is one of the cores of the democracy and plays a major role in a subsequent democrati¬zing, i.e. improving the democratic system and influencing it’s quality. Electoral par¬ticipation is one of the fundamental activities of citizens in a democratic country. Although Poles declare that participation in election is an important feature of democracy, electoral turnout does not reflect this.
