Proksemika. Studium z antropologii kulturowej
Marek Hendrykowski’s study deals with the semiotics of interpersonal proxemic relationships in today’s world. When analyzing this issue, the author puts forward three research hypotheses. First, interpersonal relationships that are connected with social space are not on the margins of systems of culture, but constitute a very important characteristic of each such system. Secondly, the traditional ways of defining proxemics, which emphasize the existence of interpersonal barriers, present the complex issues related to this field of science of signs and meanings too narrowly and usually in a schematic manner. And thirdly, the profound changes in proxemic relationships that are taking place in the macrosystem of contemporary culture have a major influence on the functioning of culture itself as well as on how individuals, groups and communities participate in this culture. When analyzed in terms of the proxemics of interpersonal relationships, the cultural ecosystem is not an abstract model but an operating system which governs the daily living conditionsof individuals, groups and communities.Marek Hendrykowski’s study deals with the semiotics of interpersonal proxemic relationships in today’s world. Stojąc przed zamkniętymi drzwiami. Franz Kafka Piotra Dumały
Directed by Piotr Dumala, Franz Kafka is a very unusual example of a biographical movie. The film is composed of carefully thought-out poetic images which, according to the director himself, reflect the “psychic landscape” of the title character. Thus scenes inspired by Kafka\u27s life and his Diaries intertwine with episodes that refer to his literary works. Dumala shows deep understand-ing of the writer’s characteristic way of depicting reality and the unusual perspective of narration indicates his thorough knowledge of Kafka’s works. Dumala draws on this heritage and creates an emotional portrait of the writer, while at the same time providing a universal reflection on the human condition
Autobusem i tramwajem w przeszłość. Berlińskie zaszłości w twórczości Annett Gröschner
This paper concentrates on the strategies of reconstructing the past as inscribed into the urban space of Berlin and discussed within the literary field. Developed by the German writer Annett Gröschner, they have been used to reexamine the history of the city – only dimly reflected in the present urban landscape. Her perspective emphasizes the distinctive spatial and architectural organization of the city, particularly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. In order to harness her dialec-tical composition of the spacing of-the-past, Gröschner uses the map of various routes on the Berlin public transport network, some inner-city artefacts set along those lines, and also the city map with its constant modifications to create appropriate landmarks through which she [re]constructs Berlin\u27s past-present
Obraz Polski i Polaków w tekstach autobiograficznych pisarzy obcych XX i XXI wieku
This article in a way constitutes the third part of a cycle of essays on the portrayal of Poland and Poles in autobiographical texts written by foreign authors from the 18th century until the present day. It deals with the 20th and 21st centuries and discusses autobiographical material in which Poland and Polish people feature most heavily (e.g., the diaries of Claudel, Gide, and Mann). Then, the article focuses on several problems, i.e. the Jews and the Jewish question in Poland (e.g. diaries written by Kafka, Gide, Raïssa Maritain, Singer, and Oz), the war (e.g. Queneau’s and Gide’s diaries), Poland after World War II (e.g. the autobiographies of Márai and Oz), and Poland as perceived by travelers (e.g. the diaries of Dublin and others). Topics pertaining to the 21st century are only dealt with here to a limited extent. This article in a way constitutes the third part of a cycle of essays on the portrayal of Poland and Poles in autobiographical texts written by foreign authors from the 18th century until the present day.
