Literacki opór wobec lektury odczarowującej
The paper deals with issues regarding the disenchantment of literature stemming from the instrumental approach in literary studies. It highlights cases of resistance to this disenchantment of literature both in academic and literary works. The instrumental lecture is contrasted with the creative one, which results from opening up to otherness contained within the text. The creation of unassimilated otherness is the drving force of the literary avant-garde, which uses it as a defence against scientific disenchantment. Possible reasons for the feeling of literary disenchantment are discussed in this paper and the validity of such fears is taken into consideration. The paper deals with issues regarding the disenchantment of literature stemming from the instrumental approach in literary studies. Hipolit jako Edyp: reinterpretacja mitu w powieści Antoniego Libery Madame
The article is a psychoanalytically oriented analysis of the use of the myth of Hippolytus and Phaedra in A. Libera’s novel Madame. The function of the myth in the novel is presented in terms of the categories of reinterpretation and prefiguration as well as in the context of its ancient sources. Libera brings together the myth of Hippolytus and the myth of Oedipus by emphasizing the role of the symbolic mother and the narrative constitutes a defense against both Oedipal and pre-Oedipal conflicts. The end of the novel is an attempt at a positive resolution of the Oedipal tensions in the narrative by means of sublimation and symbolization, in the context of the Freudian conception of drives and culture. The article is a psychoanalytically oriented analysis of the use of the myth of Hippolytus and Phaedra in A. Estetyczne aspekty tworzenia i odbioru sztuki przez osoby z wadami słuchu
The aim of the article is to analyse the aesthetic aspects of the reception and creation of art by people with hearing impairments. For most people, hearing loss is unimaginable and is often understood only in the context of communication problems. Meanwhile, deaf people perceive their otherness completely differently. Deafness is a total experience, affecting not only the physical aspect, but also changing the perception of reality as a whole. Divergences in the way of perceiving the world, resulting from the exclusion of one of the basic senses, are particularly visible in the field of art, especially in those areas that use sound effects. The large variety of types of deafness does not allow for broad generalizations or building some kind of universal theory of reception. Therefore, from the perspective of deaf people, contact with art is very individual and intimate, which also affects the issue of their artistic creation. The author of the article touches upon the problem of the visuality of sign language and its artistic possibilities. She analyses the perception preferences of people with hearing impairments, exposing the issue of polysensory perception, and presents the most interesting artistic projects created both by the deaf and those that allow to build multidirectional relations between the parallel worlds of the deaf and hearing people. The aim of the article is to analyse the aesthetic aspects of the reception and creation of art by people with hearing impairments. Podmiot transseksualny w kulturze – oswajanie, tragizm, tekstualizacja
The article presents the issue of the representation of a transsexual subject’s experience in various discourses. Pointing to the need for dialogical openness, the author proposes a transdiscursive perspective on transsexuality. By referring to the literary and historical discourses, the author proves that transsexual characters are constantly present in culture, but there is lack of textological reflection on this issue in studies on transsexual individuals. The author puts forward the thesis that these transsexual characters are searching for hypotexts in which they can find confirmation of their internal gender identity. As a result, during the process of transistion, they externalize themselves through intertextual bodywriting. On the one hand, they textualize themselves, but on the other hand, they create textual narrations about themselves. They want to exist socially throughout the text. The article is an attempt to open up theoretical reflections on transsexuality. The article presents the issue of the representation of a transsexual subject’s experience in various discourses. The article concerns the relations between the main character of the film Sara (directed by M. Ślesicki in 1997) and books (especially Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment) in the context of social and political changes in Poland in the 1990s. The presence of books in popular Polish films from that period is not described in research, hence this article provides a short introduction to this subject. The main hypothesis of the paper is that the presence of books on the margins of narration in popular films reflects social changes in thinking about literature.Kaźmierczak Marek, O atrofii kultury literackiej. Między stłumieniem a autentycznością. Metafora Don Carlosa w filmie Leontine Sagan Dziewczęta w mundurkach
Mazur Daria, Między stłumieniem a autentycznością. Metafora Don Carlosa w filmie Leontine Sagan Dziewczęta w mundurkach [Between Suppression and Authenticity. The Metaphor of Don Carlos in Leontine Sagan’s Movie Mädchen in Uniform]. „Przestrzenie Teorii” 32. Poznań 2019, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 143–166. ISSN 1644-6763. DOI 10.14746/pt.2019.32.7.
The article is a comprehensive analysis of the intertextual references to Frederick Schiller’s tragedy Don Carlos in Leontine Sagan’s movie Girls in Uniform (Mädchen in Uniform, 1931). The author considers the complex circumstances of the cooperation between the director and the artistic director, Carl Froelich, during the production. Moreover, she also presents the literary basis for the movie, namely the tragedy by Christy Winsloe (Gestern und Heute – Yesterday and Today). On this basis, the author analyses the multilevel presence of two phenomena in the movie: suppression and authenticity, which are related to the metaphor of Don Carlos and the plot of love between two women. The contexts for the analysis are inspired by research in the anthropology of romanticism, psychoanalysis, the psychology of sexual identity, and research on the works of Frederick Schiller.Mazur Daria, Między stłumieniem a autentycznością. Z ducha muzyki? Czternaście wariacji o Mieście: partyturze i innych „wierszach nadsłownych” Mariana Grześczaka
The article covers wiersze-nadsłowne [“supra-verbal” poems] by Marian Grześczak written in the period of 1959–1963, which was one of the first specimens of concrete poetry in Poland. The main part comprises an elaborate analysis of a work titled Miasto: partytura [City: score] (previously called: Miasto, parodia [City, parody]). The text becomes a springboard for the presentation of original literary theoretical ideas concerning the links between the literary text and musical notation, and in doing so refers to the findings of authors such as G. Agamben and J. Derrida, as well as G. Deleuze and F. Guattari, but predominantly to Grześczak’s own commentaries, as one of the first Polish commentators of the international concrete poetry movement. The article also mentions sixteen unpublished poems, which were found in an archive of visual poems by Grześczak, whose analysis provides a basis for rejecting the notion pervading relevant literature of the “sporadic” and “insignificant” character of the poet’s concrete works. Thus, the article is an attempt at literary historical revision and a contribution to the re-interpretation of the history of concrete and experimental poetry in Poland. The article covers wiersze-nadsłowne [“supra-verbal” poems] by Marian Grześczak written in the period of 1959–1963, which was one of the first specimens of concrete poetry in Poland.
