„Czemu Cię nie ma na odległość ręki”. Listy – zdarzenia literackie Adama Ziemianina
The article deals with Adam Ziemianin’s epistolary poetry (bringing both the subject of letters and imitating their formal qualities), which is discussed as a collection of literary events. Such an interpretation draws attention to the performativity of this writing, that is, its causative function, which results in the actualization of the text through the reader’s personal experience. Therefore, the interpretation here takes into account not only Ziemianin’s poems, but also their popularity as songs performed by the group Stare Dobre Małżeństwo. The most important conclusion presented in this paper focuses on the paradoxes of epistolary poetry: the evocation of both presence and absence, synchrony and asynchrony, combining private with public, as well as merging the literary dimension with real existence. Most of these paradoxes are motivated by the desire to rescue love and overcome death, as indicated by the symbolism of the letter and the well – serving as life-giving mediators. The article deals with Adam Ziemianin’s epistolary poetry (bringing both the subject of letters and imitating their formal qualities), which is discussed as a collection of literary events. Ad rem, czyli ku nowej recepcji antyku w ponowoczesnym świecie
This article presents the shift in the ontological status and function of Ancient Greek and Roman cultural heritage undergone by Western civilization in the last decades of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Antique tradition has since ceased to be transmitted simply as a system of ideas, values or role models, which was successively actualized in the process of its reception. In the post-modern consciousness, Ancient Greek and Roman heritage began to be understood as an individual collection of objects, consumed by society and adapted for the implementation of specific aims and aspirations. This shift consequentially results in the obsolescence of the investigative methodologies used in the study of the reception of antiquity, which have been adapted so far, and thus challenges us to search for more adequate ways of description and analysis of this cultural phenomenon. In light of this, the article presents a new understanding of the reception process and postulates a new research method, referring to the categories of speculative realism, theory of metadesign and the concept of Actor Network Theory (ANT).This article presents the shift in the ontological status and function of Ancient Greek and Roman cultural heritage undergone by Western civilization in the last decades of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Scena prawdy dyskursywnej i postprawdy. „Fakty autentyczne” i fakty medialne we współczesnym teatrze polskim
Theatre practitioners’ statements relating to the notion of truth lead to the category of post-truth. Stage of discursive truth and post-truth article discusses theatre practice of engaging feelings, impressions and emotions to take precedence over interpretations, assessments and descriptions of facts. The article critically approaches using of media discourses in theatre in order to produce the imitation of truth. The author refers to Agnieszka Jakimiak’s and Weronika Szczawińska’s play Wojny, których nie przeżyłam [Wars I have not experienced] and other selected recent Polish plays and performances. The thesis connects the media-shaped image of Polish theatre art institution seen as an area of provocation with an experience of a viewer and an ontological status of an actor. This allows drawing a conclusion that theatre uses the category of truth instrumentally, as one of its repertoire’s tools to provoke emotional reactions in the audience. Theatre performances allow one to explore the world, but also to co-create it. The theatre is a performative and cognitive sieve provoking and shaping experience that affects reality.Theatre practitioners’ statements relating to the notion of truth lead to the category of post-truth. Hermeneutyka i ἄσκησις. O żywotności Platońskiej μελέτης θανάτου
Philosophy is, first and foremost, the art of self-discovery. It has been that since its dawn, from the Delphic oracle to the present day. This is why pieces of ancient writing should be read as stimuli to one’s own thinking, so as to (in the name of hermeneutic fairness) not offend the old masters. A fragment which serves this purpose better and better as uncertainty of the author’s intentions grows is “μελέτη θανάτου” (Plato, Phaedo). The variety of possible translations enables this: “practice of death”, “care for death”, “exercise in death”, along with a range of thanatological questions, all but independent from the translations themselves. The abundance of possible interpretations also helps remind us of something which is well worth remembering: words are more of a tool aiding understanding than the actual aim of that understanding.Philosophy is, first and foremost, the art of self-discovery. Literatura bez granic? Media digitalne i ich wpływ na status sztuki słowa
The article concerns electronic literature and its place at the interface of traditional literature, technology and visual arts. This new genre of literature, associated with the development of digital media, shows that the boundaries of classical arts and disciplines in scientific research are blurring. This new phenomena require a new, transdisciplinary approach, combining literary and humanist competences with programming knowledge. The author presents a new literary phenomenon and indicates that literariness is a category which is more functional than literature in the case of studying e-literary. Literariness applies not only to literary works but also to other arts and phenomena in which it is the dominant feature of the work. This is exactly what happens in the case of electronic literature. It remains in the field of creativity in which the role of the word is the most important. At the same time, programming skills are required from the artist and the researcher, which do not fall within the scope of classical humanities. The author indicates that e-literary creativity is an area that opens up new perspectives for literary studies. It also sets new requirements for literary researchers. The article concerns electronic literature and its place at the interface of traditional literature, technology and visual arts. Zamknięcie Kunstanii
The Closing of Kunstania is a short tale about art that has been hidden away from its audience in a garden behind high walls. In this refuge, there are neither audio-guides nor art education nor interactive apps. Kunstania reminds us of another possibility to encounter art without mediators, without an aura of masterpieces, and without the promise of an extraordinary event. Instead, a way through a labyrinth of rooms and corridors, where, perhaps, things and tales are stored, but must be found on your own, wandering, returning and recollecting. The Closing of Kunstania is a short tale about art that has been hidden away from its audience in a garden behind high walls. Strategia nierozstrzygalności w wierszu jest taki pomnik Tadeusza Różewicza
The article deals with Tadeusz Rożewicz’s poem jest taki pomnik and puts forward a new interpretation concerning the mechanisms he uses to construct meanings. The author focuses on three issues: (1) the role of photography as an interpreter, (2) intertextual encryption of key contexts for the spiritual idea of the poem, (3) the allopathic function of laughter. She also indicates components of the strategy of undecidability, as a result of which a work containing what might seem an unambiguous ideological statement launches mechanisms guarding against one-way reading. The article deals with Tadeusz Rożewicz’s poem jest taki pomnik and puts forward a new interpretation concerning the mechanisms he uses to construct meanings.
