Dramaturgia nowych mediów i performans postcyfrowy. Projektowanie doświadczeń użytkownika we współczesnych sztukach performatywnych
The paper aims to answer the question – to what extent is the current reflection on user experience design in performing arts still valid? The text discusses the concept of post-digital performance (Causey); and the phenomenon of user experience design in the face of new media dramaturgy (Eckersall, Grehan, Scheer). From the perspective of these concepts and phenomena, I describe two works (To Like or Not to Like by Interrobang and Karen by Blast Theory). The text complements the discussion on performance artists’ approaches to media technologies. In this paper, I describe the changes in designing the relationships of performers and users (individualization and personalization) and the contexts of everyday media practices in artists’ strategies. The paper aims to answer the question – to what extent is the current reflection on user experience design in performing arts still valid? Styk dramaturgii z poezją: o poetyce Ry Nikonowej
Ry Nikonova is a Russian poet, belonging to the so-called “Second culture” of the 20th century, creating in the spirit of neo-avant-garde. Together with her husband, she published in the samizdat magazine “Transponans”, which was formed in the 1970–80s. Her poetic works, stylized as theatrical plays, present the idea of syncretism of art, which according to the artist is theatre. The short, economical poems evoke monumental visions of theatre, where gestures are important – less words, the conflict between actors and spectators, and all the seemingly non-scenic spaces associated with theatre in the reader’s consciousness.Ry Nikonova is a Russian poet, belonging to the so-called “Second culture” of the 20th century, creating in the spirit of neo-avant-garde. Po co dramaturgowi aktor performatywny?
The article is an attempt to answer the question of how contemporary performative acting enters into artistically and cognitively significant interactions with the new Polish dramaturgy. The relationship between the two forms of art is discussed in relation to two types of acting: task-oriented and performative. The concept of both types of acting is derived from the analysis of selected contemporary theater and television productions of dramas and scenarios arising from the achievements of the latest Polish dramaturgy. The examples that are analyzed reveal various aspects and types of the actors’ performative game, which include the issues of the actor’s subjectivity, their presence on stage and the materiality of the body. Unlike many of today’s discussions, the interpretations and comments on selected scenes and fragments of a performance do not focus on the subversive dimension of the above-mentioned aspects of acting, but look for new perspectives of reception and, at the same time, broaden the areas of theatrical experience. These new perspectives and areas are triggered by references to the affective and mental processes of reception, which allow perceptions to exclude, at least partially, the tendency to automatically interpret everything that surrounds them. The analyses featured in the article therefore aim to describe those aspects of performative acting that enable the viewer to derive benefit from what the new Polish dramaturgy offers. The article is an attempt to answer the question of how contemporary performative acting enters into artistically and cognitively significant interactions with the new Polish dramaturgy. Dramaturgia współtworzenia znaczeń wypowiedzi scenicznej. Na marginesie lektury Tekstów dla (Starego) Teatru Pawła Demirskiego
The article deals with dramaturgy in the broad sense of the term – as a written creative work and the characteristic feature of human activities: artistic and social. The starting point for these discussions is the publication of an anthology of Paweł Demirski’s theatrical texts commissioned by the National Stary Theatre in Krakow. The book is an excellent testimony to stage creativity because it contains conversations with the author and actors about the stages of work in the performance. The article presents reflections on the dramaturgy of the process of creating a text and a theatrical performance, the characteristics of Paweł Demirski’s writing and the content arrangement in the anthology. Reading this book is a peculiar aesthetic experience and a challenge for the reader. The dramaturgy of the message leads to the dramaturgy of its reception: the reader updates and co-creates meanings of theatrical texts, according to individual knowledge and sensitivity. Aesthetic experience is shaped by combining different mental spaces: it is reading a text / seeing a performance. The article deals with dramaturgy in the broad sense of the term – as a written creative work and the characteristic feature of human activities: artistic and social. Dramat. Twórczość. Transgresja. Przestrzenie intersubiektywnych doświadczeń w mistrzowskim dyskursie
The article is a response to the proposal to create a space for discourse on the dramatic dimensions of contemporary humanities. Dramaturgy, creativity and transgression are notions in the master discourse of three women Nobel Prize winners. The basis for the text is the issues contained in the speeches given by these Nobel Prize-winning authors. The intersubjective discourse around humanistic concerns about the changes in the present regards the limits of creation, the process of creative transgressions in designing the world and the potential in the space of sense-creating experiences. It shows a vision of a human who “thinks through creativity, sees the world differently”. Transgressive activity allows us to transform reality, and going beyond the boundaries is like successive acts of creating, or at least the creation of the world. The article is a response to the proposal to create a space for discourse on the dramatic dimensions of contemporary humanities. Szkic o współczesnej narratologii
The article discusses the issues of contemporary narratology. The author assumes that narratology is inextricably linked to poetics and rhetoric. The object of narratology is cultural space, which is created by texts in a particular rhetorical modality. However, its reflections includes subjects such as communication strategies and discursive practices. Each narrative discourse involves combining referential and communication events. According to the author, such a view of contemporary narratology opens up a number of new interpretation possibilities. The article discusses the issues of contemporary narratology. Powtórzenie niemożliwe. O estetycznym doświadczeniu przeszłości w Pannach z Wilka Jarosława Iwaszkiewicza
The author attempts to describe the aesthetic experiences of the past lived by the protagonist of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz’s The Wilko Girls, and answer the question about the possibility of repetition. Elaborating on the arguments proposed by Friedrich Nietzsche in The Gay Science and by Søren Kierkegaard in Repetition, the author proves that even with a favourable attitude to one’s own past, an attempt to repeat past experiences is impossible. Nothing can be experienced again. The past is closed. The possibility of only partial access to it is created by human sensuality referring to the notion of aisthesis, which is the source of aesthetic experience. The senses stimulated by various sounds, smells, tastes, images, and the accompanying memories and emotions, constitute a vast spectrum of aesthetic experiences, making the experience of the past an existential experience of time. The author attempts to describe the aesthetic experiences of the past lived by the protagonist of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz’s The Wilko Girls, and answer the question about the possibility of repetition. „Niebo trzecie” księdza Piotra. Szkic komparatystyczny
The author analyses the function of the “Third Heaven” motif, which appears at the end of the fifth scene in Mickiewicz’s drama, Forefathers’ Eve Part III - this is where the Angels decide to take the soul of the sleeping priest Peter, one of the main characters in this work, for a short time. The author questions the inspiration that the poet might have drawn from St. Paul’s 2nd Letter to the Corinthians and from the writings of theosophers such as Jakob Boehme (especially Aurora or Rising at Dawn) and Emanuel Swedenborg (his treatise on Heaven and Hell), in which the theme of a “Third Heaven” played an important role. Research has already drawn attention to these relationships. Making a conditional, historically probable assumption that the influence of these works has had a significant impact on the formation of the supernatural world in Mickiewicz’s drama, the author considers the semantic-ideological consequences that would result from placing a monk’s soul in the “Third Heaven” in St. Paul’s, Boehme’s and Swedenborg’s versions, respectively. In conclusion, the author formulates the thesis that greatest number of arguments can be advanced in favour of a connection with Swedenborg’s concept, although this does not settle the matter definitively. Cóż po doświadczeniu wojny w czasie zarazy? Kilka uwag o definiowaniu kultury
The paper reflects on the concept of culture from the perspective of those who’ve experienced the cataclysms of the 20th and 21st centuries. The author poses questions about the current experience of the pandemic to verify the “usefulness” of the dominant cultural patterns. The author analyses the particular war experiences of Czesław Miłosz in Warsaw (Legends of Modernity) and Józef Czapski in a prisoner-of-war camp (Proust in Griazowiec). At the center of their traumatic experience is the process of seeking salvation through cultural gestures. The experience of war reveals both the strength and weakness of the fundamental version of culture. The article ends with a question about the topicality of this experience and the upholding power of modern culture. The paper reflects on the concept of culture from the perspective of those who’ve experienced the cataclysms of the 20th and 21st centuries.
