TIME – SERIES MODELLING OF FOOD SECURITY INFLATION IN MALAYSIA USING AN ARIMA MODEL AS A MACHINE LEARNING APPROACH
After air and water food, is the most important thing that we as humans need to survive and getting wholesome food is becoming more and more difficult. Food security refers to the accessibility and availability of the food resources. A household is considered food-secure if there is no starvation in every family member. With the burgeoning population in the world nowadays, food security become a significant problem across the globe by every country and international organizations. The objective of this study was to forecast the prices of food by category based on the 7 years data from time-series consumer price index reported by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) from 2014 to 2021. The study considered Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) processes to forecast the future trend of the food prices. The ARIMA model for forecasting food prices showed good agreement and stationery concerning the observed data on food prices based on the Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF). The results show the ARIMA model to be a suitable method for analyzing statistics. In data-poor food prices situations, this method can support potential evaluations of future food prices for decision making and effective management
BOAT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR TERENGGANU ISLANDS
Many tourism companies provide boat services to the Terengganu Islands, but most of them only advertise their boat services on social media or the company’s website. Therefore, the Boat Management System to Terengganu Islands (BoatMSTI) was developed, and the main objective of this system is to create a one-stop center platform. Tourists can compare boat services provided by different tourism companies and find the best and most affordable services on one website. Tourists can check ticket availability and book ticket directly based on the selection of the boat service. BoatMSTI also enables the tourist to view other customer’s feedback and rating. At the same time, this system can help the tourism company manage boat services and customer booking tickets. This system is developed using an Agile method which makes the system development more flexible. The general concept is to divide the development of the system into sequences of repeated cycles known as iteration. The system can be improved for every iteration to meet user satisfaction based on user feedback. This system is web-based and can be accessed anytime and anywhere with an internet connection. The web-based system also can ease users like tourism companies and customers to store important information such as booking tickets and payment receipts in the database. In conclusion, with this system, the tourist can save more time in finding the best boat service, and the management of customers by tourism companies will be more efficient
UV PHOTOCATALYSIS AND METAL DOPED TITANIUM DIOXIDE: ELIMINATION OF E. COLI AND S. AUREUS IN WATER
Photocatalysis has been widely used for water disinfection and wastewater treatment. UV photocatalysis induced bacteria photocatalytic disinfection, focusing on mechanisms in bacteria inactivation. The problem with industrial wastewater is that it generally contains a high concentration of toxic or non-biodegradable pollutants. The application of photocatalysis is mainly focused on the removal of microorganisms. Metal-doped TiO2-based photocatalyst has a significant potential for the inactivation of harmful pathogens. In this research, the effect of different metal-doped on photocatalytic disinfection against Escherichia coli (E. coli) (gram-negative) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) (gram-positive) under UV light was investigated. TiO2 was used and doped with various types of metal such as copper (Cu), cobalt (Co), and iron (Fe). The experiments were run under UV light with 1 g/L of selected metal-doped for up to 3 hours. A series of photocatalytic disinfection on E. coli and S. aureus were conducted on water contamination with 500 mL of trypticase soy broth (TSB) and 5 ml of bacteria. These results show that the UV photocatalyst with Cu doped-TiO2 gives 99% of E. coli disinfection. While for S. aureus disinfection Co-doped-TiO2 gives 96% of removal bacteria after 3 hours of treatment. In conclusion, a metal-doped TiO2–based UV photocatalytic system is highly recommended for improving the water decontamination process
PARASITES OF WHITENOSE WHIPRAY (Pateobatis uarnacoides) IN TERENGGANU WATERS
This study focuses on the parasites of Pateobatis uarnacoides. The commercial value of P.uarnacoides creates a need for a comprehensive checklist of its parasites to ensure its safety and quality. This study aims to identify parasites of P.uarnacoides and analyse their prevalence and mean intensity in Terengganu waters. In October 2018, 30 P. uarnacoides samples were collected from Pulau Kambing Fisheries Complex. A total of 346 individual parasites were retrieved, representing three phyla, three classes, three orders, three families, and one genus. Class Hexanauplia, class Palaeacanthocepha and phylum Nematoda are represented by only a single individual. Ninty-nine percent (343 individuals) of all parasites collected were from the family Gnathiidae. Gnathiids have the most intense infection rate at 19 compared to all other parasites having the least intensity of one each. The mean intensity of parasites infecting P.uarnacoides is 5.5. The prevalence of infection of gnathiids is 60%, exceeding the prevalence of other parasites at 3.30% each. The site of attachment of gnathiids is limited to the gills. It was observed that the parasites found did not cause significant physical damage to the host or risk of mortality. However, a heavy infestation of gnathiids may cause difficulty breathing as it congests the gills, thus reducing the general fitness of the host. Overall, the results of this study show that the parasitic fauna of P.uarnacoides does not concern with public health and the economy. It also finds that this species is highly susceptible to infection by gnathiids, which was unrecorded in previous studies
EMPLOYEE ECOLOGICAL BEHAVIOR AS MEDIATOR IN THE EFFECT OF GREEN CULTURE ON EMPLOYEES’ GREEN SATISFACTION
The topic of Employee Ecological Behaviour (EEB) is gaining the attention of academics and practitioners, specifically on factors influencing it and the outcomes it leads. Despite an increasing number of recent studies on various green management practices and the competitive advantage they offer, the number of studies on EEB among academic staff is currently limited. Due to this, this paper aims to assess the effect of Green Culture (GC) on Green Satisfaction (GS) through the mediation of the ecological behaviour of academic staff in Malaysian public research universities. The Social Exchange Theory (SET) describes the association between GC, GS, and EEB. This cross-sectional study investigates how GC affects the GS of academic staff through EEB in Malaysian public research universities. A total of 299 valid responses were gathered and analysed using Smart PLS. The findings prove that green culture influences green satisfaction through the full mediation of EEB. The present study only focuses on academic staff in local public research universities. For future works, it is suggested to consider other factors that could facilitate the relationship between GC and GS. Policymakers can use the findings to understand the importance of green practices and develop a robust pro-environmental policy. It is believed that no prior study has attempted to use EEB as a mediator between GC and GS
DEFINING FEEDER VESSEL'S EFFICIENT ROUTE DISTANCE TO MAKE THE SUPPLY CHAIN EFFICIENT AND REDUCE THE ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHE ACCORDING TO MARPOL AND LOCAL REGULATIONS
Feeder vessels are the necessary part of the transport system that mother vessels can’t reach. In contrast, the frequent transmittable feeder vessels can affect the environment drastically and shift the factors of environmental catastrophe entirely. This shift can be stopped with reasonable restrictions in light of MARPOL and other regulations. Through data-driven strategy and state legislation, laws regarding the movement of the feeder vessels and other factors can be controlled and bought to a minimum. Proper strategy execution is also a major part of making an efficient route system and reducing the Hydrometeorological environmental catastrophe
