The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia) participates in the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET), utilizing Acid Precipitation Samplers (APS) to monitor wet and dry deposition across Malaysia. These instruments are critical in evaluating acid rain and its environmental impacts. This project aimed to develop a low-cost alternative to the existing APS control system, incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) features and the additive manufacturing to reduce OD (OD) at sites and operational expenses, for EANET and METMalaysia. The current system faced frequent breakdowns, inefficiently refurbished components and increasing maintenance costs. The ELCAPSIoT was developed using microcontroller programmed with Arduino IDE. A cost-effective enclosure and mechanical parts were fabricated using 3D printing. System improvements, based on end  users’ feedback, included RC filtering for actuator noise suppression, analog-based rain detection, and expanded sensor area. Deployment at selected sites showed a reduction in APS failure rate from 70% to 30%, while component cost was reduced by over 94%, with the new system costing RM 1,360 compared to RM 23,000 previously. Field tests are in compliance with WMO GAW and EANET standards. The ELCAPSIoT project successfully demonstrated the feasibility of a low- cost, IoT-integrated acid precipitation sampler, meeting international monitoring standards while enhancing maintainability, cost efficiency, and technological adaptability. Future developments will explore renewable energy integration and broader environmental applications

Amir’s Eyes Adventure Learning Amblyopia AR Storybook

“Amblyopia, or ‘lazy eye,’ is a common vision problem in children. If not treated early, it can lead to permanent vision issues. However, the current educational methods such as printed books and standard medical explanations may not effectively capture children’s attention or encourage interactive learning. There is a need for an engaging, interactive, and immersive learning tool that makes understanding amblyopia fun and accessible for children. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to develop an augmented reality (AR) storybook that educates children about amblyopia, causes, symptoms, and treatments through an engaging and interactive experience. This research uses the ADDIE model for designing and developing the AR storybook. The prototype was tested with 30 children, selected using purposive sampling. Data will be collected through user experience testing and feedback surveys. Based on this research, it is expected that this project will have a better understanding of amblyopia in a more engaging and interactive way, which could improve early diagnosis and treatment adherence. Based on the results, it will be proven that AR technology can enhance children’s learning experiences about amblyopia and make health education more accessible and effective

Integrating Clinical Fiqh into Nursing Education: A Scoping Review on Student Satisfaction and Ethical Nursing Practice.

Introduction: Integrating Clinical Fiqh into nursing education is a novel approach that aligns nursing practice with Islamic ethical and legal principles. However, student satisfaction with this curriculum remains unexplored, particularly in the context of preparing culturally competent nurses. This scoping review examines the available literature on integrating Clinical Fiqh in nursing education and evaluates student satisfaction with its inclusion. Objective: This scoping review aims to explore nursing students’ satisfaction with the integration of Clinical Fiqh in their curriculum and identify the influencing factors that impact their learning experiences. It seeks to assess how this integration contributes to professional and ethical competencies in nursing practice. Methodology: A systematic search was conducted using Scopus, SpringerLink, and PubMed databases to identify relevant studies published between 2019 and 2024. The review followed the PRISMA framework, applying inclusion criteria such as peer-reviewed articles in English and studies focusing on Islamic ethics in healthcare education. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Tool was used to evaluate the validity and reliability of selected studies. Results: The findings highlight limited literature on Clinical Fiqh integration in nursing curricula. Preliminary evidence suggests that students value its inclusion for fostering ethical decision-making, cultural competency, and patient-centred care. However, challenges such as teaching methods, faculty expertise, availability of learning resources, and clinical practice integration influence overall satisfaction levels. The review also identifies gaps in research regarding the long-term impact of Clinical Fiqh education on nursing practice. Conclusion: This review underscores the significance of incorporating Clinical Fiqh in nursing education to enhance ethical and culturally sensitive care. The findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on religious ethics in healthcare and provide insights for improving curriculum design. Future studies should explore longitudinal impacts and comparative assessments across institutions to strengthen evidence-based recommendations for Islamic nursing education

Background: A pilot study was conducted to determine the effect size of visceral manipulation (VM) sessions on abdominal pain and quality of life in adult individuals with functional dyspepsia (FD).Methods: Twenty-nine subjects diagnosed with FD participated in a pre-post-study design. The participants were subjected to a two-week treatment regime involving VM intervention sessions. Each session lasted for 30 minutes and was conducted five times a week. Data were collected using the Abdominal Pain Index (API) and Short-Form Nepean Dyspepsia Index (SF-NDI) instruments. The Friedman test was used for analysis. with a significance level set at p < 0.05. This study was approval by the Health Research Ethics Committee of the Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health, East Kalimantan, Indonesia (Ethics No. DP.04.03/7.1/12146/2023).Results: Among FD patients, there was a significant reduction in abdominal pain, pain time, duration, and intensity before and after the VM intervention (all p < 0.05). The quality of life also improved in the following domains: anxiety, activity limitation, eating and drinking, knowledge, and work/study (all p < 0.05).Conclusion: After 2 weeks of VM intervention in FD patients, we found a significant reduction in abdominal pain and improved in quality of life. Although the small sample size limits the generalizability of the findings, the observed improvement in abdominal pain and quality of life may hold clinical relevance for this population

Knowledge and Attitude of Ipoh Residents towards Using “Time Bank” in Care of the Elderly.

Background: Time banking is a socially based system of transaction that uses time instead of money. Members of a time bank can earn time credits by providing services, which they can later spend these credits by receiving services from others. Time banking is one way where the society can maximize its social capital and lessen the burden of the ageing population. This study aims to identify the level of knowledge and attitude towards the use of time banking in elderly care among residents of Ipoh Perak.Method: A cross-sectional study with a sample size of 386, calculated using OpenEpi. Data were collected through an online Google Form distributed to various groups on different online platforms, as well as through self-administered questionnaires. Results: Most of the respondents, 75.7% (n=292) were found to have poor knowledge on time banking in elderly care. However, 55.7% (n=215) of the respondents had a positive attitude towards it. Respondents without health problems had a positive attitude compared to those with health problems. Conclusions: Overall, most of the Ipoh residents demonstrated poor knowledge on time banking in elderly care.. On the contrary, a positive attitude was observed among them. There was also a significant association between knowledge of time bank in elderly care and attitude. More programmes and campaigns on time banking are recommended to increase the knowledge of the Malaysian population on its role in elderly care

Transcending the Red Eye: A Nearly Missed Case of Adult Gonococcal Conjunctivitis.

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted disease with a rising incidence worldwide. Adult gonococcal conjunctivitis is relatively uncommon but poses significant risks, including corneal perforation if not treated promptly. Diagnosis can be challenging, and delayed or misdiagnosis may occur due to its resemblance to other common forms of conjunctivitis. We reported a case of a 35-year-old sexually active male with persistent unilateral conjunctivitis that did not respond to standard topical antibiotics. Further investigation revealed Neisseria gonorrhoeae as the causative organism. Despite developing corneal thinning, the patient responded well to prompt systemic and topical antibiotics, with preservation of vision. This case highlights the importance of taking a comprehensive history, including sexual history, to facilitate early detection and treatment, which can help prevent complications

Kikuchi-Fujimoto Disease Triggered by Mycoplasma pneumoniae Infection: A Case Report.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a rare inflammatory disorder which typically presents with cervical lymphadenopathy and pyrexia. It is frequently misdiagnosed as other more common medical conditions which share similar clinical manifestations. The diagnosis of KFD is often established only after a lymph node biopsy and histopathology evaluation that demonstrates the characteristic features of histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis. While the aetiology of KFD remains poorly-understood, certain microbial agents have been implicated as triggering factors. Here, we highlight a case of a young Asian woman who developed prolonged fever and cervical lymphadenopathy. She was initially being investigated for possible lymphoma, but was subsequently found to have KFD, alongside a Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. She recovered well following the treatment with azithromycin

Ethical Considerations in Emergency Medical Services (EMS): Understanding the Significance of Confidentiality - A Scoping Review

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) play a critical role in the healthcare system, providing immediate care to individuals in life-threatening situations. The ethical principle of confidentiality is a cornerstone of healthcare that extends to prehospital care settings. This scoping review examines EMS confidentiality, explores its ethical implications, and its application considerations. PRISMA-ScR criteria were used for this scoping review. PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar were searched for literature. The search terms were “EMS,” “emergency medical services,” “confidentiality,” “ethics,” and “ethical considerations.” Empirical studies, review papers, EMS ethics, and rules of confidentiality were included in this review. Studies that did not address EMS ethics or confidentiality were excluded. The findings reveal that EMS confidentiality is influenced by ethical, legal, and practical factors. Legal and ethical frameworks, patient privacy and dignity, and practical challenges in EMS settings illuminated the need for confidentiality in EMS. This scoping review emphasises the need for confidentiality in EMS and the complexity of ethical issues. Understanding the importance of confidentiality in prehospital treatment can help design rules of ethics, policies, and training programmes for EMS providers. Further research is needed to identify challenges and develop techniques for maintaining confidentiality in various EMS scenarios to provide the best patient care while protecting their privacy
