No full textFun Extreme Park is a new theme park in town. After a few years in operation, the park is facing a crisis in declining number of visitors. Revenue is greatly affected as the biggest revenue stream comes from the sales of tickets. A few other challenges have been identified that may further contribute to the decline in the visitors’ numbers. The sales of retail products are not promising and there has been an increasing complaint from customers on the quality of food and services at their restaurants. Despite having ten rides in the park, some of the popular rides are not operable due to maintenance issues. These added to the customers’ complaints further. The case dilemma involves getting the best options in improving the park’s performance by way of getting the best strategies in each of the challenges highlighted. Appendices are attached to provide more information for better understanding of the park’s operation

No full textAurora Layar Group (Aurora) had been experiencing losses for three consecutive years since 2017. Among factors contributing to these losses were high depreciation due to high capital expenditure and recognition of impairment losses. However, Aurora managed to reduce its losses from RM252 billion in 2017 to RM79.5 billion in 2019. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic had hammered many industries worldwide including Aurora, in the travel, leisure and hospitality sector. The implication from the restrictions on business operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic on Aurora was evidenced by its reported losses of RM371.3 billion in the first six months to June 2020 during which most of its cruise operations suspended since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The reported losses were extremely higher compared to the first six months to June 2019 of RM28.3 billion. While many cruise companies globally fighting for survival, the Deputy CEO of Aurora, Miss Salina Hasan, tendered her resignation. In May 2020, the Chairman and CEO, Tan Sri Salmah Ali, had pledged 60 per cent of her shares in the company as collateral for loans. The decision was made a day after Aurora decided to suspend all payments to creditors.
A Review of Modular Ergonomic Furniture Patents
No full textThis paper identifies weaknesses in the ergonomics and design advancements of household furniture. This paper suggests recommendations to enhance the satisfaction and support of ergonomic furniture. Furniture and interior wares are the chosen products of interest, and are specifically emphasised in the context of home living. This paper includes an ergonomics focus on the engineering and industrial design of household furniture, but does not include an analysis of biomechanics, physiology and anthropometry. Based on evaluations of patents from 1980 to 2013, this paper suggests that a user-centred design would be an ideal choice for designers as it potentially promotes customer satisfaction and simultaneously improves the health and well-being of users. The paper synthesises the consensuses of furniture consumers which include data from trends, demands, complexities and preferences.

Influencers of University Students’ Career Decision
No full textMaking a career decision is often challenging among students for which they are expected to decide on a career in times of uncertainty that will have an impact on the rest of their lives. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors influencing undergraduate students’ career decision and to propose recommendations aimed to rectify career indecisions. The independent variables chosen for this research are extrinsic factors, intrinsic factors, and interpersonal factors, which is derived based on the tri-dimensional model of career choice proposed by Carpenter and Foster (1977). An additional independent variable which is industrial training was added as an extension of the research framework as it is perceived to potentially influence undergraduate students’ career decision as well. All data were collected from 200 undergraduate students from a private university using questionnaires and analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Version 22). The study results indicate that intrinsic factors are the most influential in affecting undergraduate students’ career decision which is followed by interpersonal factors. However, extrinsic factors and industrial training were found to have insignificant relationship with career decision making
The Opportunity for a Civil Code in Myanmar
No full textIf the modern concept of codification is seen as a Code, Myanmar experienced for long time official and various codifications in a broad interpretation of the term. Indeed, Dhammathat has been used in the Ancient Burma. Moreover, a Burma Code related to the codification of Indian Common Law has been established in the country through the British colonisation. Since the independence of the country, the government continues to compile statutes law and case law on a year-by-year basis. Nowadays, codification can be used to solve legal uncertainty and conflict of laws in civil law such as family law, contract law and property law. Hence, Myanmar needs to modernise its civil law and could do it through a Civil Code. Therefore, this modernisation can be a great opportunity to achieve the legal, social and political unity in the country.

No full textData analytics is the essential component in deriving insights from data obtained from multiple sources. It represents the technology, methods and techniques used to obtain insights from massive datasets. As data increases, companies are looking for ways to gain relevant business insights underneath layers of data and information, to help them better understand new business ventures, opportunities, business trends and complex challenges. However, to date, while the extensive benefits of business data analytics to large organizations are widely published, micro, small, and medium sized organisations have not fully grasped the potential benefits to be gained from data analytics using machine learning techniques. This study is guided by the research question of how data analytics using machine learning techniques can benefit small businesses. Using the case study method, this paper outlines how small businesses in two different industries i.e. healthcare and retail can leverage data analytics and machine learning techniques to gain competitive advantage from the data. Details on the respective benefits gained by the small business owners featured in the two case studies provide important answers to the research question

No full textThis study examined how economic activities affect the direction of money supply in Malaysia. The overnight policy rate is the interest rate set by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) as its monetary policy tool. Based on the Keynesian Economic Theory, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model was applied to analyse how the industrial production index, interest rate and consumer price index influenced money supply. The findings of this study supported the notion that economic growth significantly affected the money supply in the short run. There was no evidence of such a relationship in the long run. Maintaining a stable money supply is vital to limit adverse variations in economic activity. A stable money supply allows Malaysia to respond effectively during difficult times, especially the current covid19 pandemic
Application and Evolution of Airborne LiDAR Technology for Topographic Data Acquisition Practice in the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia
No full textThe mapping industry is one of the areas that is always given attention to balance the rapid development of current technology. The application of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology in the mapping industry opens up a wide dimension of discussion involving industry users as well as academics. LiDAR technology is now a common method for faster and higher quality topographic data collection than conventional topographic data collection methods. Observation data that is generally in the form of high-density point (point cloud) can also be applied in various uses, especially in the field of mapping and terrain analysis. Therefore, this paper will discuss related LiDAR technology including basic information or principles of LiDAR technology, the latest developments of LiDAR methods, and work processes involved from the point of view of the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM).

Neural Network Facial Authentication for Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station
No full textThis study is to investigate and compare the facial recognition accuracy performance of Dlib ResNet against a K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) classifier. Particularly when used against a dataset from an Asian ethnicity as Dlib ResNet was reported to have an accuracy deficiency when it comes to Asian faces. The comparisons are both implemented on the facial vectors extracted using the Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) method and use the same dataset for a fair comparison. Authentication of a user by facial recognition in an electric vehicle (EV) charging station demonstrates a practical use case for such an authentication system.
