    Figure-of-Merits (FOM) for Direct Current TENG (Triboelectric Nanogenerator): Structural vs Dimensionless

    This review paper provides a detailed overview of figure-of-merits (FOM) of Direct Current triboelectric nanogenerators (DC-TENGs). TENG represent a potentially ground-breaking technology for extracting mechanical energy from the environment. The FOM is a critical parameter that determines the efficiency of the energy conversion. This paper discusses the various working modes of DC-TENGs and also the research done to maximize output charge density. The review looks at recent different FOMs that could be formulated to improve the analysis of the performance and efficiency of TENGs more accurately. Finally, the paper concludes with a comparison between two different types of FOMs namely structural FOMs and dimensionless FOMs. It provides a valuable resource for researchers working in the field of TENGs and it sheds light on the key factors that influence the FOM of DC-TENGs.     Deferred indefeasibility is one of the most important concepts in the Malaysian Torrens System. Under the doctrine of deferred indefeasibility, when there exist vitiating factors in the immediate transaction, the immediate purchaser will acquire a voidable title in contrast with the subsequent purchaser who will acquire good title or interest if he obtains the title or interest in good faith and with valuable consideration. However, whether a purchaser is immediate or subsequent depends on the construction of section 340 of the National Land Code (Revised 2020). In 2021, the Federal Court laid down the decision of See Leong Chye @ Sze Leong Chye v United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad & Other Appeals which states that the financial institution which acquired interest from an immediate purchaser was a subsequent purchaser, thereby enjoyed indefeasibility in its charge. However, such an interpretation ran afoul of section 340 of the National Land Code. This article provides a commentary on the case of See Leong Chye in respect of the concept of immediate and subsequent purchasers under the doctrine of deferred indefeasibility

    Contemporary Securitisation of Islam and Muslims: A Content Analysis of Twitter

    This study is to address and explore the securitisation of Islam and Muslims on Twitter. It examines whether or not and to what extent securitised images of Islam and Muslims have been produced on Twitter. In addition, the study analyses the dominant securitised themes and their sub-dimensions. The methodology used for this purpose consisted of an empirical and sentiment analysis, analysing three hashtags trending on Twitter. It was found that the portrayal of Muslims and Islam on the Twitter platform was problematic and produced securitised images of Islam and Muslims. Totalitarianism and Sharia law as sub-dimensions of the ideological threat in the context of the securitisation of Islam were dominating, while general Muslims and women as sub-dimensions of securitisation of Muslims were dominating on Twitter. Similarly, hashtags #banislam and #stopislam produced more securitised images than #racism. A few positive and neutral Tweets were found producing positive images of Islam and Muslims on Twitter, showing that these hashtags produced securitised images of Islam and Muslims. Finally, in the securitisation of Islam and Muslims, these hashtags produced more tweets on Islam as an ideological threat category rather than Muslims as an existential threat category

    Engaging Learning Experience: Enhancing Productivity Software Lessons with Screencast Videos

    The use of screencast videos can improve the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process, whether it is face-to-face or online. Screencast videos are digital resources that capture the computer screen and create an audio-visual experience, and they can be shared online to aid the learning process. It eliminates the need for educators to repeat information multiple times and creates an uninterrupted personalised learning environment for the students. This method of learning gives students a more personalised sense, as if they were given one-on-one guidance from the educator, with students having access to the educator and receiving immediate feedback during the class session. The purpose of this study is to investigate how well students learn when screencast videos are used as instructional materials in lab classes. The report gives the opinions of 34 business programme students regarding their experience learning basic word processing, presentation slides, and spreadsheet creation using screencast recordings. This is a descriptive study with data collected using a Likert scale questionnaire. According to the study's findings, students responded favourably to this technique. Students stated that they can study more effectively and complete their work faster when there is no interruption. They were able to fully concentrate on the videos and effortlessly follow the instructions. When compared to traditional instructor-led lab programmes, the time required to complete the video lessons and supplementary challenge questions was significantly reduced. They also appreciated the educator’s immediate feedback because the educator's time was spent observing them rather than teaching

    An Economic Analysis of Anti-Profiteering Law in Malaysia

    In Malaysia, the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 contains both price control and anti-profiteering provisions. A profiteering offence is committed when a seller makes an ‘unreasonably high profit’ which is further defined as exceeding a mark-up percentage or margin percentage from a baseline profit on the first day of the financial year or calendar year of business. Neoclassical microeconomic theory teaches that regulatory control over prices is inefficient and harms consumers more than does any good. Violations of the anti-profiteering provision are challenging to detect as prices may increase due to increased costs. Contrary to the rationale for anti-gouging laws, allowing businesses to increase prices due to a shortage of supply may save consumers from unnecessary searches for the illusive low-price controlled products and further incentivise sellers to seek alternative sources of supply. In a competitive market, market discipline by consumers is sufficient to deter businesses from raising prices beyond competitive market prices. Competition law and mandatory price marking law should be used to address uncompetitive market conditions. Perhaps, for these reasons, there are no more new reported cases of enforcement of the anti-profiteering law in the news since 2016 despite having a reported appeal decision in 2020

    Simulation and Fabrication of P3HT:PCBM Solar Cell

    Poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl-C71 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) polymer solar cell is studied by using GPVDM simulations and experiments. The research focuses on the effects of active layer thickness on solar cell structures as bulk heterojunction (BHJ) (ITO/P3HT:PCBM/Al) as compared to a bilayer structure (ITO/P3HT/PCBM/Al). The optimal active layer thickness of 200 nm is obtained in the simulation for BHJ solar structure. The results also indicate that bulk heterojunctions exhibit slightly higher efficiency than bilayer solar cell with the same thickness, possibly due to a better and worthier total surface region for charge separation and reduced recombination between the electrons and holes. BHJ solar cell is fabricated in the experiment by using spin coating. The results show that higher spin speeds result in a thinner active layer, and the device coated at 2500 rpm had the highest power conversion efficiency of 0.91 % because of a higher Isc and fill factor, despite a low absorption. The results suggest that bulk resistance, and morphology of the active layer play important roles in the carrier transport in the P3HT:PCBM solar cell.     Revolutionizing Connectivity: The Breakthrough of Batteryless Mouse Using Magnetic Resonant Coupling for Communication Devices

    With the rapid development of electronic technology and information technology, personal computer has gradually become the public's office or entertainment tools, which also makes the computer mouse a widely used tool. However, most computer mouse on the market today come with batteries. In this context, it is necessary to design a batteryless mouse that without using power supply such as battery. In view of such demand, on the basic of theoretical analysis, this paper summarizes and designs a classical wireless transmission structure – magnetic resonant coupling and antenna that used to transmit and received power for communication devices. In order to understand the operation of wireless power transmission technology, the paper analysed antenna construction and wireless power transmission technology. The basic design parameters of the axial mode helical antenna structure are also explained. Finally, by using CST STUDIO software, axial mode helical antenna with gain of 6.45 dBi was obtained. The system's output voltage is successfully simulated at 1.516 V that can powered up the computer mouse.     Indigenous Peoples in Protected Areas and Equitable Conservation: Recent Legal and Policy Development in Malaysia

    Respect and recognition of the rights of the indigenous peoples are acknowledged as indispensable for sustainable and equitable conservation of protected areas. Corresponding to this, in Malaysia, significant changes have also been seen in the relevant laws and policy statements in the last few years, providing for greater recognition of the needs and rights of the indigenous peoples in the management of the protected areas. This paper provides an overview of the Malaysian laws and policies on protected areas affecting the rights of Malaysia’s indigenous peoples, the Orang Asli, with a focus on the recent changes in the relevant laws and policy statement. However, without adequate legal support and recognition as landowners, the effort to meaningfully include the indigenous peoples in the management of the protected areas may be hampered. A concrete legal change needs to take place, specifically through legislation to formally recognize and acknowledge the rights of the Orang Asli communities to their customary land. This may lead to a change of perspective towards the Orang Asli as landowners and pave a new foundation for creating new relationships to create a genuine partnership and meaningful involvement of the communities in the management of the protected areas

    Analysis of Malaysian Competition Law and Policies in the E-Commerce Platforms Market

    The current competition law framework in Malaysia is found in the Competition Act 2010 and Competition Commission Act 2010, supplemented by various Malaysia Competition Commission Guidelines. An analysis of the e-commerce platforms market would demonstrate the creation of complex conglomerate ecosystems surrounding a few incumbent platforms that are resistant to conventional monocentric competition laws and policies focusing on price. Consumer complaints suggest the presence of unfair, exclusionary, and exploitative practices that affect various parties in the multi-sided e-commerce platforms that depend on the platform's infrastructure. This research seeks to identify the e-commerce platforms market ecosystem in Malaysia and analyse the regulatory framework governing market competition and safeguarding consumer protection in the e-commerce platforms market in Malaysia with references to notable competition cases and trending consumer complaints. Crucially, it aims to compare the Malaysian competition laws and policies against the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act of the European Union in the context of the digital market, and employs doctrinal research, wherein the primary data is obtained through systematic content analysis of relevant reports and articles. Malaysian competition laws and policies have potential weaknesses that can be strengthened to safeguard consumer protection in the e-commerce platforms market

    Zika virus is a mosquito-borne virus that is commonly transmitted by mosquitoes of the Aedes genus. The transmission dynamics of the Zika virus in males, females, and children are comparatively studied. The study aims to analyze and find the population that affects more due to Zika transmission. This paper deals with the non-linear Mathematical model of the dynamics of Zika virus transmission.  The reproductive ratio of the model is calculated to analyze the spread of the Zika virus.  The equilibrium and the stability of the model are found and analyzed analytically.
