    Cabaran Dan Keyakinan Pelajar Melayu Terhadap Pengajaran Dan Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab Di Sekolah Menengah: [The Obstacle And Confidence Level Among Malay Secondary Students Towards Teaching And Learning Arabic Language]

    The purpose of this study was to evaluate the obstacle and confidence level among malay secondary students towards teaching and learning Arabic language. This study also tried to find out the co-relation between the confidence level among malay secondary students and frequency of their communication. This study was carried out involving 1400 students of standard 1, 2 and 4 all over the Malaysia west schools which offer the Arabic of Communication. Then, the data has been analysed using descriptive method into frequency, percentage and mean. The results has shown that Malay students faced an obstacle in learning Arabic language with mean score = 3.1340 and standard deviation. = 0.6470.  The result has also shown the confidence level of them towards Arabic language was average with mean score = 2.768 and sd. = 0.313.  The result also shown that there are nine factors of obstacles and eight factors of confidence level that influence of learning Arabic language. Test of χ2  is used to ensure the correlation between students’ confidence level and their frequency of communication in Arabic Language. Test of Independent also be done and has its significant with level 0.05,with value  χ2 = 107.588,  df = 9, p = 0.000. Abstract Kajian ini bertujuan mengenal pasti tahap cabaran dan keyakinan pelajar-pelajar Melayu di sekolah menengah terhadap pengajaran dan pembelajaran Bahasa Arab.  Kajian ini juga melihat faktor-faktor yang membentuk cabaran dan mempengaruhi keyakinan para pelajar sekolah menengah dalam mempelajari Bahasa Arab. Seterusnya, kajian turut meneliti hubungan antara keyakinan pelajar-pelajar bertutur dalam Bahasa Arab dengan kekerapan mereka bertutur. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 1400 orang pelajar tingkatan 1, 2, dan 4 dari sekolah menengah agama di semenanjung Malaysia yang menawarkan subjek Bahasa Arab Komunikasi. Data kajian dipersembahkan secara diskriptif dalam bentuk kekerapan, peratusan dan min. Dapatan kajian mendapati tahap cabaran pelajar dalam mempelajari Bahasa Arab boleh dianggap sebagai mencabar pada kedudukan min sebanyak 3.1340 dengan nilai sisihan piawainya adalah pada 0.6470.  Manakala tahap keyakinan pelajar terhadap Bahasa Arab boleh dianggap sederhana dengan skor min mereka adalah pada  2.768 dan sisihan piawainya pula adalah pada 0.313. Kajian ini mendapati  sembilan faktor boleh dikaitkan dengan  cabaran pelajar mempelajari Bahasa Arab dan lapan faktor yang mempengaruhi keyakinan mereka. Ujian Khi Kuasa Dua telah digunakan bagi menentukan kebergantungan keyakinan pelajar bertutur dalam Bahasa Arab dengan kekerapan mereka bertutur dalam Bahasa Arab. Test of Independent telah dilakukan dan mendapati ianya signifikan pada aras 0.05, dengan nilai  χ2 = 107.588,  df = 9, p = 0.000

    The Quranic exegesis in Malaysia has always been strongly influenced by Malay religious teachers from various educational institutions and each of them is subscribing to their preferred method of interpretation. The achievement of previous Muslim scholars can be witnessed from the publication of a large number of books on exegesis. This paper analysed the comparison of thoughts and methodology of presentation of Muhammad Idris Al-Marbawi and Mustafa Abdul Rahman found in their works. The focus of study was on the exegesis of surah Yaseen by both scholars. Through text analysis, both aspects were scrutinised and compared in their work. Results found that the ideas of Al-Marbawi were universal and integral in character; his exegesis was full of discussion that covered wide range of aspects and knowledge. Mustafa Abdul Rahman’s ideas were contradicting Al-Marbawi\u27s; his exegesis was fundamental in nature and he covered the basic knowledge on the verses. From presentation methodology, Al-Marbawi\u27s was organised in unique approach and systematic arrangement, while Mustafa Abdul Rahman’s resorted to easy-to-understand language and discussion approach common to readers. Abstrak Perkembangan bidang tafsir di Malaysia diperangaruhi oleh tokoh ulama Melayu daripada pelbagai institusi pendidikan dan setiap daripada mereka mempunyai metode pengajian tafsir yang tersendiri. Keunggulan ilmu tokoh ulama terdahulu dapat dilihat melalui penghasilan kitab-kitab tafsir. Kajian ini bertujuan menganalisis perbandingan aspek pemikiran dan metode penyampaian Muhammad Idris Al-Marbawi dan Mustafa Abdul Rahman dalam karya masing-masing. Fokus kajian ini adalah kepada tafsiran surah Yasin kedua-dua tokoh. Melalui pendekatan kajian perpustakaan, penulis berusaha meneliti dua aspek tersebut dalam karya setiap tokoh dan kemudian membanding antara keduanya. Hasil kajian mendapati pemikiran Al-Marbawi bersifat universal dan integral; pentafsiran beliau sarat dengan perbincangan merangkumi dan merentasi pelbagai bidang ilmu dan aspek. Pemikiran Mustafa Abdul Rahman pula lebih bersifat kontradik dengan Al-Marbawi; pentafsiran beliau mendasar dan merangkumi pengetahuan umum berkenaan ayat. Dari segi metodologi penyampaian Al-Marbawi diwarnai dengan pelbagai pendekatan unik dan susun atur kitab yang sistematik, sementara Mustafa Abdul Rahman menggunakan pendekatan syarahan dengan gaya bahasa yang mudah difahami pembaca

    The purpose of this study is to explore the importance of good values, attitudes and behaviour in teaching and learning. The study established by using Teaching and Learning Guiding Principles Instrument (TLGPI) to look out the reliability and validity of the instrument in generating teaching and learning guiding principles (TLGP). Participants consisted of 350 Malaysian teacher educators from 10 higher teacher education institutions selected. It is an essential instrument to reflect in generating the teaching and learning guiding principles in higher education level in Malaysia. Confirmatory Factor Analysis has validated all five items of Good Values (GV) construct of TLGPI whereby all items indicated high reliability and internal consistency. A Confirmatory Factor Analysis also confirmed that a single factor model was used to generate teaching and learning guiding principles. Abstrak Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk meneroka kepentingan elemen nilai-nilai murni, sikap dan tingkah laku dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Kajian yang ditubuhkan dengan menggunakan Instrumen Prinsip Panduan Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran (IPPPP) untuk melihat kebolehpercayaan dan kesahan instrumen dalam menjana prinsip panduan pengajaran dan pembelajaran (PPPP). Peserta terdiri daripada 350 pendidik guru Malaysia daripada 10 institusi pengajian tinggi guru terpilih. Ia adalah instrumen penting dalam menjana prinsip panduan pengajaran dan pembelajaran di peringkat pengajian tinggi di Malaysia. Analisis Pengesahan Faktor (APF) telah mengesahkan semua kelima-lima item konstruk Nilai-nilai Murni (NM) IPPPP di mana semua item menyatakan kebolehpercayaan yang tinggi dan konsisten.     The word thaghut is mentioned in various places of the Quran, both in Meccan and Medinan verses. It is a term that is commonly used by scholars and preachers in various meanings and connotations ranging from a moderate understanding to the extreme interpretation. In this paper, an attempt is made to expound a detailed understanding of the meaning of the term thaghut in the Quran, its types and implementation in the field of Islamic propagation as well as its implications. In general, the paper is divided into two sections. The first part analyses the concept of thaghut while the second part discusses its methods and purposes. In its findings, the study presents a comprehensive concept of thaghut in the Quran that includes false deities and those who are against the rules of Allah whether in the form of demon, idol, human or others. Similarly, it also highlights the various methods and means of spreading false ideology of thaghut through knowledge, mass media, trickery and others. The various types of thaghut worship are also explained together with its implications both in this world and in the hereafter

    Reviewing the development of science in human civilization should include a discussion of two aspects of development which are the history of Islamic civilization and Western civilization. Islam provides the most important synthesis in the history of human civilization. The rapid development of Islamic civilization has proven to be a worthy rival to other well known and ancient civilization. This is the result of inner strength that was anchored by two sources of dogmatism, namely al-Quran and al-Sunnah, which gave birth to the Islamic intellectual and creative dynamic. The identity of Islamic science can be explained through the analysis of epistemology which can directly provide an overview and goals of the position of science in Islam. Similarly, the critical analysis of the methodology that affect the application and adaptation of science can explain and clarify Islamic Science’s own image in comparison to Western science. Islamic science and technology can build sophisticated machinery to address the problems in life, but the harmonious integration with the environment causes the invention to be more ethical and perfect. The reality is that a clear distinction exists between Islam and Western approaches to the development and progress of the study of science. The comparison of Islamic and Western science shows significant differences in context, epistemology and methodology of science education in the science of civilization. Generally, the difference of philosophy of science or belief system has given the biggest implication to the existence of differences in terms of the development of the study of science . Abstrak Mengkaji perkembangan sains dalam ketamadunan manusia perlu meliputi perbincangan daripada dua aspek perkembangan iaitu dalam sejarah ketamadunan Islam dan keduanya ketamadunan Barat. Islam sebenarnya telah mengadakan suatu sintesis terpenting dalam sejarah peradaban insan. Perkembangan pesat ketamadunan Islam terbukti telah menyaingi tamadun- tamadun lain yang terdahulu dan yang terkemudian. Ini terhasil daripada selain kekuatan dalaman yang berpaksi kepada dua sumber dogmatik, iaitu alQuran dan sunah yang melahirkan kegiatan intelektual Islam yang dinamis dan kreatif. Identiti sains Islam dapat dijelaskan dalam analisis epistemologinya yang secara langsung dapat memberikan gambaran dan matlamat serta kedudukan sains dalam Islam. Begitu juga dengan analisis kritis terhadap metodologi yang mempengaruhi cara-cara aplikasi dan adaptasi sains Islam mampu menerangkan dan menjelaskan imejnya tersendiri berbanding dengan sains Barat. Sains dan teknologi Islam mampu membina jentera canggih untuk mengatasi masalah dalam kehidupan, namun hasil garapan murni dan harmoni dengan alam sekeliling menjadikan penciptaan teknologi Islam lebih beretika dan sempurna. Realitinya ialah wujud perbezaan yang jelas tentang pendekatan Islam dan Barat terhadap pembangunan dan kemajuan pengajian sains.     Kebolehbacaan Buku Teks Maharat Al-Qira’ah Berasaskan Ujian Kloz Dalam Kalangan Pelajar Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia: [The Readability of Maharat Al-Qira’ah Textbooks Based on Cloze Test among National University of Malaysia Students]

    Textbooks are one of the reference materials in the teaching of Arabic in Malaysia. In line with the current development, the Arabic language has become an important foreign language after English. Arabic language achievement of students in the country is still at a low level. Among the factors associated with the weakness issues of Arabic language proficiency among students is the suitability of the language level in the textbooks. The objective of this study was to determine the level of readability of a textbook, Maharat al-Qira’ah at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, National University of Malaysia. The respondents comprised of 162 students. Data was collected through cloze tests and questionnaires and later analyzed using descriptive analysis. The average score for cloze test of textbook Maharat al-Qira’ah is defined by 65%, which translates that the level still remain at a low level and not appropriate for the purposes of teaching and learning. Therefore, the authorities should take into account the level of readability before any textbook is used as the learning resource so that it corresponds to the students’ level of language skills.   Abstrak Buku teks merupakan salah satu bahan rujukan utama dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Arab di Malaysia. Seiring dengan perkembangan semasa, bahasa Arab telah menjadi bahasa asing yang penting selepas bahasa Inggeris. Pencapaian bahasa Arab pelajar di negara ini masih di tahap lemah. Antara faktor dikaitkan dengan isu kelemahan bahasa Arab dalam kalangan pelajar adalah aras bahasa buku teks yang kurang sesuai dengan mereka. Oleh itu kajian ini bertujuan menentukan tahap kebolehbacaan buku teks Maharat al-Qira’ah yang dijadikan buku teks di Fakulti Pengajian Islam, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Buku teks ini digunakan oleh pelajar Ijazah Sarjana Muda bagi subjek kemahiran bahasa Arab di universiti tersebut. Dalam mengukur tahap kebolehbacaan ujian Kloz dijalankan dalam kalangan pelajar dan melihat perbezaan skor ujian Kloz yang diperoleh dari aspek jantina pelajar, teksteks bacaan yang diuji dan pencapaian pelajar dalam peperiksaan akhir semester. Bagi mencapai objektif tersebut, satu tinjauan berupa ujian melalui satu set ujian Kloz telah dijalankan ke atas 162 orang pelajar. Data kajian dianalisis secara kuantitatif dekskriptif. Hasil ujian yang dijalankan mendapati skor purata ujian Kloz bagi buku teks Maharat al-Qira’ah adalah sebanyak 65% yang ditafsirkan masih berada pada tahap rendah, iaitu kurang sesuai untuk tujuan pengajaran dan pembelajaran di kelas. Oleh itu pihak yang berwajib seharusnya mengambil kira tahap kebolehbacaan teks yang disediakan sebelum dijadikan bahan pembelajaran pelajar agar sesuai dengan tahap kemahiran bahasa pelajar tersebut

    Faktor Timbulnya Pengaruh Bahasa Pertama Dalam Mempelajari Bahasa Melayu Sebagai Bahasa Kedua: [Factors Contributing To The Existence Of First Language In Learning Malay Language As A Second Language]

    Learning the Malay language as the second language is important among Chinese students. From initial surveys made in SJKC Batu14 Hulu Langat, Selangor, the percentage of Malay language paper decrease in UPSR. These results showed that the Chinese students face problems in learning the Malay language as a second language. Thus, this study aims to analyse factors that contribute to the existence of first language influence among Chinese students while learning Malay language. The sample of the study included 77 Chinese students in standard 4, 5 and 6 who failed in their Malay language examination. The Interaction Theory by Halliday is used. According to Halliday, children master the language because they have a need to interact with members of the public in their environment. This means that the child will interact with the public at an early stage to meet their basic needs. This phenomenon does not occur in the sample. So, the Chinese students who only speak Chinese will not learn the Malay language well, even Chinese influence in learning the Malay language would be more significant. The instrument used in this study was questionnaire. The data collected is calculated in percentages. The results are displayed through tables and graphs with descriptive description. Results from this study showed that there are four factors which contribute to the influence of Chinese language while learning Malay language, which are exercises, environment, interest and attitude. This research is important to the education system, parallel with the government’s efforts to uphold Malay language as the national language, official language and the language of knowledge. Every walks of life in Malaysia should channel their efforts together towards uplifting the status of Malay language in Malaysia. Therefore, Malay language should be mastered by all individuals, including Chinese students in SJKC. ABSTRACT Pembelajaran bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa kedua amat penting dalam kalangan murid Cina. Daripada tinjauan awal yang dibuat di Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Batu 14 Hulu Langat, Selangor, peratus kelulusan kertas pemahaman bahasa Melayu mencatatkan penurunan dalam Ujian Penilaian Sekolah endah (UPSR). Keputusan menunjukkan bahawa murid Cina menghadapi masalah dalam mempelajari bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa kedua. Maka, kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan timbulnya pengaruh bahasa pertama dalam mempelajari bahasa Melayu dalam kalangan murid Cina. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 77 orang murid Cina Tahun 4, 5 dan 6 yang gagal dalam ujian kertas bahasa Melayu. Teori yang digunakan oleh pengkaji ialah teori Interaksi oleh Halliday. Menurut Halliday, kanak-kanak menguasai bahasa kerana mereka mempunyai keperluan untuk berinteraksi dengan ahli masyarakat dalam persekitaran mereka. Ini bermakna, kanak-kanak akan berinteraksi dengan masyarakat pada peringkat awal untuk memenuhi keperluan asasi mereka. Fenomena ini tidak terjadi pada sampel kajian. Oleh itu, murid Cina yang hanya bertutur dalam bahasa Cina tidak akan mempelajari bahasa Melayu dengan baik, malah pengaruh bahasa Cina dalam mempelajari bahasa Melayu akan lebih ketara. Alat kajian yang digunakan dalam kajian ini ialah borang soal selidik. Data-data yang dikumpul dikira dalam bentuk peratusan. Dapatan kajian dipaparkan melalui jadual dan graf berserta huraian deskriptif. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa terdapat empat faktor yang menyebabkan timbulnya pengaruh bahasa Cina dalam pembelajaran bahasa Melayu, iaitu latihan, persekitaran, minat dan sikap. Kajian ini penting kepada sistem pendidikan dalam usaha kerajaan untuk memartabatkan bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa kebangsaan, bahasa rasmi dan bahasa ilmu. Setiap lapisan masyarakat di Malaysia harus bergerak seiring ke arah meningkatkan taraf bahasa Melayu di Malaysia.     Tahap Penguasaan Kemahiran Insaniah Pelajar Pengajian Islam: [The Mastery of Soft Skills among Islamic Studies Students]

    The study is a descriptive survey study that aims to see the level of soft skills among Islamic Studies students’ courses. A total of 346 samples from a population of 955 students in Bachelor courses of Islamic Studies from a public university participated in the study. Seven attributes of soft skills (soft skills) for university students as outlined by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) which include communication skills, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving, lifelong learning, entrepreneurship and professional skills moral ethics were adopted. Data for this study were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 17.0. Min analysis shows that students master the six constituents of soft skills at a high level unless entrepreneurial skills at moderate level. The highest skill mastered was teamwork skills, followed by learning skills and information management skills, leadership skills, critical thinking skills and problem solving, communication skills and moral and professional ethics. Entrepreneurial skills which was mastered the least need to be improved to encourage Islamic studies graduate to join entrepreneurship. The study recommends that the students to pursue other professional fields without forgetting the noble role to preach the message of Islam in any career endeavor. Abstrak Kajian ini merupakan kajian tinjauan secara deskriptif bertujuan untuk melihat tahap penguasaan kemahiran insaniah pelajar kursus Pengajian Islam. Seramai 346 sampel daripada 955 orang populasi pelajar Ijazah Sarjana Muda Kursus Pengajian Islam daripada sebuah universiti awam tempatan terlibat dalam kajian. Tujuh attribut kemahiran insaniah (softskill) untuk pelajar IPT seperti yang digariskan oleh Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia (KPTM) merangkumi kemahiran komunikasi, kepimpinan, kerja berpasukan, berfikir kritis dan penyelesaian masalah, pembelajaran sepanjang hayat, keusahawanan dan kemahiran etika moral profesional (KPT 2006) digunapakai. Data kajian ini telah diperoleh melalui soal selidik dan dianalisis menggunakan prisian SPSS versi 17.0. Analisis min menunjukkan pelajar menguasai enam juzuk kemahiran insaniah pada tahap tinggi kecuali kemahiran keusahawanan pada tahap sederhana tinggi. Kemahiran yang paling tinggi dikuasai ialah kemahiran kerja berpasukan diikuti kemahiran pembelajaran berterusan dan pengurusan maklumat, kemahiran kemahiran kepimpinan, kemahiran pemikiran kritis dan penyelesaian masalah, kemahiran komunikasi dan kemahiran etika moral dan profesional. Kemahiran keusahawanan yang paling rendah dikuasai perlu dipertingkatkan sebagai usaha menggalakkan graduan pengajian Islam menceburi bidang keusahawanan. Kajian mencadangkan pelajar Pengajian Islam menceburi bidang-bidang profesional yang lainnya tanpa melupakan peranan mulia sebagai penyebar mesej keislaman dan pendakwah dalam apa jua karier yang diceburi

    This article aims to delineate al-Baqillani’s responses to the Anthropomorphists regarding their views on the attributes of God. As an Ash‘arite, al-Baqillani disproved some theological doctrines formulated by this group in dealing with a number of theological topics; the speech of God, the Quran and its characteristics, and other attributes of God. He obviously shows his capacity and attempts to maintain the mainstream of Ash‘arites’ theological framework. Through this study, the author concludes that his theological position takes the combination between rationalistic method and application of the revelation. This research applied a textual analysis approach, using descriptive and analytical methods to investigate and analyze primary sources related to the issues. It also adopts the historical method to scrutinize several events on the subject
