    No full text
Introduction: Basketball players must perform jumps with both feet off the ground in the game, and they frequently land off balance and sustain ankle injuries. Despite the fact that the ankle supports the entire body's weight and has a wide range of motion, it is a frequently injured joint. Objective: In order to prevent recurrent ankle sprains and secondary consequences, the objective of this study is to identify the prevalence, risk factors and preferred treatment for ankle sprains among Maldivian basketball players. Methodology: A questionnaire was provided to the basketball players in the greater Male' region in the Maldives which helped obtain the necessary information to perform the study. Prevalence was analysed by frequency and the significance of risk factors was analysed using the Chi-Square Test on SPSS version 26. Results: In total, 92.7% of the 193 basketball players had an ankle sprain. Age, frequency of playing per week, player's position, and injury mechanism were identified as significant risk factors. Majority of the participants (62.6%) preferred the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) approach for treating ankle sprains, followed by visits to physiotherapy clinics (14.5%) and hospitals (22.9%). Participants with prior educational experience in injury prevention made up 27.4% of the group. Conclusions: The results revealed a high prevalence of ankle sprains among basketball players from the Maldives Male' region, with age, weekly playing frequency, injury mechanism, and player position serving as important risk factors. This study provides an opportunity to start a conversation amongst athletes, coaches, and medical professionals because the majority of the participants lacked prior knowledge about injury prevention. Future intervention studies can be carried out to lessen the frequency and seriousness of ankle sprains in Maldivian basketball players

    No full text
Background: Nurses are one of the main professions in the hospital to recover patients from their abnormal health conditions. The activity of nurses is intimately connected to shift work. Daily shift work results in increased workload and mental stress, which leads to sleep disorder and delayed adaptation for young nurses to shift work, this may cause the nurse’s difficulty falling asleep or insomnia. There is compelling evidence that shift work has a negative impact on sleep, alertness, and exhaustion, which may contribute to mental health issues and sleep issues. Aim: This study aims to find the effectiveness of Jacobson’s relaxation technique and yoga in insomnia among shift nurses. Methodology: In phase 1: The survey was conducted among 100 nurses through Google forms using ISI questionnaires. They were chosen with the help of the convenience sampling technique. Among 100 responded participants, 54% were diagnosed to have insomnia based on the total score range. 20% of selected nurses disagreed to participate in the experimental study (phase 2). Ultimately, 30 nurses were chosen to take part in the experimental trial based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria of phase 2. The participants in the study who had sleeplessness received two therapies. 30 selected nurses were randomly allocated into two groups, 15 in each group. One group was given yoga (Group Y) and another group was given Jacobson’s relaxation technique (Group J). It was given for a time period of 4 days per week for a duration of one month. Results: A statistically significant difference between Group Y (Yoga) and Group J (Jacobson's relaxation technique) was found by statistical analysis of the statistical data. In comparison to Group J, Group Y had lower PSQI values. As a result, group Y and group J differ statistically significantly from one another. Conclusion: It has been concluded that both yoga and Jacobson’s relaxation technique were more effective in improving sleep in nurses with insomnia, among them yoga is more effective than Jacobson’s relaxation technique

Background: In the unorganized sector, the silk industry has grown to become a well-liked cottage business that employs more than 10 million rural residents. The development of new technologies that are efficient, labor-saving, and environmentally benign is being pursued. Objectives: To evaluate the secondary metabolites present in the selected Cucurbita moschata and Ipomoea batatas herbal plant (Leaf) extracts with five solvents namely ethanol, chloroform, acetone, petroleum ether, and water. To determine the antimicrobial activity of plant extracts against selected bacterial strains and assess the effect of fortified mulberry leaves with plants on the growth of silkworms and their weight of cocoon, pupa, shell, and shell ratio of silkworm Bombyx mori. Method: In this study, the selected herbal plants (Cucurbita moschata and Ipomoea batatas) were collected by hand-picking method from Singaneri village, Nanguneri Taluk, Tirunelveli districts, Tamil Nadu, India. The qualitative phytochemical analyses of selected herbal plant extracts were performed using standard procedures. Results: Phytochemicals results revealed that the different extracts (petroleum ether, chloroform, acetone, ethanol, and water extracts) revealed that, phenolic compounds, steroids, saponins, and xanthoproteins were present in the acetone extract. In petroleum ether tannins, saponins, pholobatanins, cardiac glycosides, phenolic compounds, flavanoids, carbohydrates, and xanthoproteins were present. In the antibacterial activity, ethanol and acetone extracts showed significant inhibitory effects against the pathogens viz., Enterococcus, E.coli, Aceto bactor and Bacillus cereus extracts did not show any activity. Moderate activity was expressed by ethanol extracts of I. batatasa gainst E.coli and Acetobactor (8.1±0.3mm diameter) concerning petroleum ether extracts. C. moschata revealed high activity against E.coli and Acetobactor with diameter of inhibition greater than 13.0±0.2 mm while C. moschata exhibited only moderate activity against E.coli and Acetobactor. Conclusion: The selected herbal plant extracts could increase some biological characteristics of silkworm B. mori, but this enhancement could economically improve the sericulture goals. The growers might be offered this substance to help them produce more silk

Multi-Label Text Classification for Indonesian Language IT Journal with K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN)

    No full text
Classification is the process of finding a model or function that explains or distinguishes concepts or data classes, intending to estimate the category of an object whose label is unknown, and various types of classification, one of which is the classification of text documents. Document text classification based on label category is one of the mandatory components in the retrieval system to provide better and more accurate information. Based on existing research, only single-label Classification of text documents is carried out, and it is infrequent for multi-label Classification of IT journals, especially in the Indonesian language. Therefore, this research is aimed at multi-label text classification using the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) method, and the OnevsRest Classifier approach model, where the classification process will be determined by the closest k = n value in the category of documents that are similar and the multi-labels are in prediction with One vs. Rest Classifier. Training and testing are done with a dataset of 500 Indonesian IT journals. The test results are sufficient to give good results with an accuracy of 84% and a hamming loss of 0.076

Investments in health information technology (HIT) are known to improve financial and operational performance in hospitals. However, it is less understood whether this improvement is short-term, medium-term, or long-term. This paper investigates the effect of HIT investments on hospitals’ cost-to-charge ratio, a financial metric that accounts for both costs and revenues, at different time lags after the initial investment. Using panel data on U.S.hospitals from 2010 to 2021, we report that the impact of HIT on hospital cost-to-charge ratio is realized with a lag of zero to four years, when controlled for hospital differences such as rural vs urban location, public vs private ownership, proportion of uncompensated care, and year-over-year variations. This effect becomes non-significant after four years as the effect of HIT wears out. We also quantify the returns from HIT investment. A 100% increase in HIT investment results in a reduction of 3.3 to 6.0% in cost-to-charge ratio between years 0 through 4 after the HIT investment. Implications of these findings for research and practice are describe

Analyzing Pension Data Process and Proposing Solutions at the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency Office

    No full text
The Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), where we conducted our investigation, is one of the organizations under the mayor's jurisdiction in Palembang. Due to its manual management of employee pension data using Microsoft Excel, this organization has considerable influence over the Palembang municipal government, especially in pension data gathering. Began by contacting employees when their designated retirement date was drawing near. The employee then finishes the dossier, which becomes a pension proposal. The fact that the management is still done using the Excel program presents several difficulties. For instance, when the head of finance requires pension data, the staff of the department must review each retiring employee file in the Microsoft Excel application individually, in addition to having to review multiple other files. Naturally, it takes a while because the necessary data must be manually searched individually. When the file is complete, it will be submitted to the department for approval. In this regard, we offer a solution by creating and deploying an application to streamline the pension administration procedure
