Policy Implementation Performance of Primary School Leaders in Malaysia: An Exploratory Factor Analysis

    Get PDF
The aim of this study is to develop a scale for assessing the policy implementation performance of public primary school leaders in Malaysia. The “Implementation Leadership Scale (ILS)” by Aarons, Ehrhart and Farahnak (2014) and part of the “Teacher’s Competency Scale” by Ghafar (2015) were adapted and customised to suit the context of the study in measuring school leaders' policy implementation performance. The respondents were 228 senior primary school leaders who included headmasters and senior teacher assistants in three categories: academic, student affairs, and co-curriculum. Clustered random sampling was used to select the respondents. Results of the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) revealed six underlying components of policy implementation performance with 38 indicators, the first four of which are proactive, knowledgeable, supportive, and perseverance implementation leadership. The last two components are ability to perform and standard of performance. Evidently, the six components explained 65.1% of the total variance. The reliability of the policy implementation performance construct was 0.95, while that of other constructs ranges from 0.79 to 0.89. In addition to contributing further insight to the current literature on policy implementation performance, the results also provide a reliable source of information to researchers and professional practitioners of educational policies for future research in policy implementation performance

A questionnaire is one method that is very widely used for social research and is an essential stage in an information system survey in this case the instrument adopted from previous research. Research in the field of information systems today is highly developed by the context ranging from industry, education, and other areas that are not limited. The objectives of this study were to assess the nature of the psychometric properties of users, in this case, is the level of readiness of users in adopting information technology in SMEs. Respondents were chosen randomly and were active computer users in SMEs, and the questions and statements given could be responded to and understood well so that the perceptions between researchers and respondents were the same. The population used is by taking several SMEs industries in Jakarta. The survey was conducted by interviewing and distributing questionnaires to employees at SMEs. Data processing is done using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results obtained are 13 of the 70 questions were recommended to be rejected. Besides, the findings can be used by other parties in terms of testing a questionnaire as a reference for consideration, and the confirmation results can be used as a reference in revising the questionnaire questions. Keywords: Statistical Analysis; Interpretative Analysis; SEM, Readiness and IT Adoption Questionnair

    Get PDF
This study provides an insight to the state of determinants of capital structure on financially distressed firms of the Bursa Malaysia, under the classification of Practice Note No. 17 (PN17). This is a quantitative research employing the Partial Least Squares (PLS), a more robust of the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) variant as its main tools of data analysis. Central to this analysis is the adoption of Central Limit Theorem as its main parameters. The findings of this study concluded that significant determinants for the pre-reorganised capital structure of the PN17 firms are tangibility and size while for the post-reorganized capital structure was growth. In line with conventional wisdom, the relationship between pre-reorganized capital structures and its determinants was only reliable one year prior to the date of reorganization. The study also found that there are no association between the pattern of pre and post reorganized capital structure indicating independence capital structure reorganization process of the PN17 firms. In terms of capital structure models, the pre-reorganized PN17 firms exhibit a preference towards the Total Loan Model which indicated leaning towards financial structure while the post reorganized firms gravitate towards Total Debt Model, indicating the notion of capital structure. This study concluded that the present PN17 classification is effective in fulfilling its duty as intended by Bursa Malaysia in identifying and restructuring financially distress public firms

Combining Readiness and Success Constructs for Exploring the Information System Implementation Performance: A Model Development

    Get PDF
This study explained how to combine the technology readiness and success model of information systems (IS) in the context of exploring the factors that influence the readiness and success of IS implementation performance. As explained by many studies of IS, that most IS research models are developed by adopting, combining, and adapting previous studies. The researchers developed this model based on the input-process-output logic and professional and causal models of the IS success model. The developed model was structured in twelve variables and 42 indicators. The path influences between variables were presented by 28 links. Researchers broke down the model to the level of the assessment instrument in relation to the implementation of the research. However, the model development study may have limited in the used assumptions and understanding of the researchers, the study may contribute theoretically in terms of new model propositions. In addition, the development of the proposed model and the instrument for data collection may be a practical consideration point for further study

Design and Development of Corporate Gamification in Training Framework for Sustained Engagement in Malaysian Customer Service Industries.

    Get PDF
The purpose of this research was to propose a guideline under a gamification framework for corporate training that would help instructional designers or corporate trainers to improve instructional designs through a systematic approach when gamifying a training programme. The traditional methods used in corporate sector training were not engaging and interactive, as well as ineffective. Hence, gamification methods are used in the corporate world to improve training. Effective gamification could bring in savings and profit returns, resulting in the use of gamification in many businesses. However, there were no clear guidelines for effective gamification design. This study investigated the usage of a design-based research (DBR) approach on gamification in corporate training. This research used a mixed method research design for data collection and analysis. For the training design in this research, the DBR approach was used to ensure the successful implementation of a gamification framework for corporate training. Methodological triangulation was conducted to enhance reliability and validity through cross-checking data from multiple sources such as interviews, surveys and observations. Authorisation from the corporate company researched was obtained to avoid any ethical breach. The training was implemented in a real-world setting, hence, the data gathered was based on a real training implementation. A total of 702 participants from the corporate sector were involved in the training. There were eight trainers or practitioners of this programme and they were evaluated by a classroom auditor or observer. Three pilot classes were conducted with 62 participants. The remaining 640 participants were divided into 31 classes. The Gamification Training Solutions Framework (GTSF) was a guideline proposed for instructional designers to include games as an important factor in designing instruction. Based on this study, 98% of 640 participants agreed that the overall course was effective. Feedback from participants showed that 97% agreed that the GTSF used had effective course content and design. Ninety-seven percent (97%) of the 640 participants recommended the course to others. In conclusion, future corporate training could use the GTSF as a quick guideline for instructional designers to implement training using gamification
