Configure-to-Order (CTO) Production Through Lean Initiatives: Manufacturing Delivery in COVID-19 Pandemic Milieu
Manufacturing is a critical demand-supply chain of production to meet consumption needs in fulfilment of contractual obligation under planned delivery schedule
or on-demand as needed. This is particularly the case with certain manufacturing concerns that continue to advocate a normative practice of market-response or business-purchase reactions as and when it arises. The maintenance of capital-intensive production and highcost related products are examples of a typical and common business process in operations management that is reactive rather than proactive. However, as a Business Process Improvement (BPI) strategy that works beyond the practice of normative manufacturing is this proposed model of configure-to-order (CTO) production through lean initiatives. It is a proactive change-driven flexible-adaptive manufacturing enabler that produces evershorter delivery times, with economies of scale, operational efficiency, systemic-aligned management and overall productive organizational effectiveness. A case in point is the agility of medical equipment and related products manufacturing business during an unexpected surge of not only critical demand but urgent-fast delivery for its products to combat the death-threatening crisis of Covid-19 pandemic onslaught. In essence, the adoption of ‘lean’ initiatives that incorporates a combined approach of ‘lean’ and ‘agile’ elements - capsulated in the acronym of ‘leagility’ – is a hybrid strategy that facilitates
CTO production to deliver the output on time, the result-expected secured and outcomeanticipated fulfille
Impact of Competitive Strategies on Corporate Performance of Selected Shipping Companies in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries
In globalization, manufacturing and related services industries - with their respective logistics transportation and transactional delivery chains - compete in varying competitive conditions to capture market share. The widespread maritime logistics and shipping industry which facilitates the formation of trade alliances such as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is a case in point. This study explores why and what is lacking in its organizations and management in the shipping industry to retain its strategic competitive edge and what the slack areas of competitive advantage are, to capitalize on available opportunities in the Gulf maritime trade, often
dominated by big branded-industry players who changed their financial, administrative and operating strategies to sustain the market changes that poses a highly competitive and dynamic business environment where prediction and stipulation do not work most of the times due to fluctuating rates of chartering ships that intimidate operations and unsettled bottom-line
performances. The research questions seek answers from a random sample of 210 middle andsenior management employees from Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar, based on a mix method that secures 6-focus demographic variables and 4-axis 1-set phrases questions whose
responses each were analysed statistically to achieve study objectives. The overall findings suggest, among others, a prevailing business gap where GCC companies should diversify their fleet portfolio towards different sectors business while maintaining moderate growth in their existing sectors to enable diversified income and revenue generation to mitigate risks of declining market sectors

Systematic Review of the Builder Method and Product of the Information System Strategic Planning at Higher Education Institution in Indonesian
Research on the utilization of Information System Strategic Planning (ISSP) in Higher Educations in Indonesia is still being conducted. ISSP provides an important role in the successful use of information systems in Higher Education in the form of the realization of benefits. Therefore ISSP needs to be built properly by utilizing the appropriate ISSP builder methods, to produce ISSP products that can provide benefits realization. Current ISSP building methodologies commonly used are frameworks such as Business Systems Planning
(BSP), Ward and Peppard (W&P), Zachman Enterprise Architecture (EA), Enterprise Architecture Planning (EAP), EA TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), Tozer, PPDIOO (Prepare, Plan, Design, Implementation, Operate, Optimize) and EUP (Enterprise Unified Process). Commonly produced ISSP products are Blueprint(BLPT), Application Portfolio(APPF), EA Model(EAMD), Strategic Planning (STPN), Master Plan(MTPN), and Road Map (RDMP). The results of research that discuss building methodologies and ISSP products are currently being conducted at Higher Education in Indonesia, but there is still little research that discusses the exploration of the accumulated use of the ISSP method, ISSP products, and mapping of ISSP methodologies to ISSP products. This exploration effort is useful in obtaining reality and phenomena related to ISSP product development methodologies and their mapping. The research aims to explore the method of ISSP builders and products and their mapping at Higher Educations in Indonesia in the period 2009 to 2019 by utilizing the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The results of this study provide synthesis and mapping related to the ISSP builder method and products in Indonesia

Kenya conducts the Kenya Secondary Certificate of Education (KCSE) managed by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) and standardized for all secondary schools in the country. This study is about school improvement and academic performance of public secondary schools of Nyamira County, Kenya. The study aimed at evaluating the influence of parental involvement in education financing and student discipline as improvement variables towards academic performance in public secondary schools. The study was anchored on the KCSE performance results. Nyamira County among others has recorded low scores over the years as indicated in the KCSE results thus rendering public secondary schools’ performance in Nyamira County questionable. This study was based on the theory of performance as espoused by Elger and acknowledges the significance of descriptive research design. A total of
127 public secondary schools were sampled from the target population of 189 public secondary schools using the Krecjie and Morgan table of sample size determination. Sample respondents were 889 comprising of teachers. The researcher used a questionnaire as a primary data collection instrument. Data analysis was done using statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) software. Based on the findings of this study, the study concluded that parental involvement is critical in the students’ academic performance among public secondary schools in Nyamira County. There exist a strong positive correlation between adequate education financing support and student’s performance in KCSE. The study also revealed that student discipline influences the academic performance of public secondary schools in Nyamira County. Disciplined pupils are likely to remain focused on their educational goals and aspirations; manage their time well, work harder in academics and show high levels of determination to succeed academically. Different lifestyle, societal norms and culture were some of the prime challenges facing the process of maintaining high discipline levels in Nyamira County. Although most secondary schools in Nyamira have got a disciplinary policy showing school rules and expected behaviour, the consequences for breaking these guidelines and the level of policy implementation in these public secondary schools in Nyamira County is wanting. From the ANOVA results, the value for F calculated is 501.176 while for F critical is 3.85. Since F calculated (501.176) is greater than F critical (3.85) and the P value is less than 0.05, this leads to the rejection of null hypotheses and adoption of the alternative hypothesis; this shows a positive significance and therefore there is need to formulate strategies that encourage parental engagement in academic improvement strategy. This is based on the revelation that lack of proper engagement procedures impeded participatory levels of parents in academic improvement strategy and therefore negatively affecting student’s academic performance. From the ANOVA test, The F calculated value is 9.956 while for F critical is 3.85. Since F calculated (9.956) is greater than F critical (3.85) and the P value is less than 0.05, this led to the rejection of null hypotheses and adoption of the alternative hypothesis revealing a positive significant relationship between levels of school financing and academic Performance of public secondary schools Nyamira County. The state policymakers should implement education reforms designed to improve resource allocation and boost student’s academic performance. The government should consider increasing the level of funding to secondary school since in some cases where social economic factors were unfavorable since it enables the affected students to academically performance preferably low. On the other hand, the ANOVA test, The F calculated value is 98.160 while for F critical is 3.85. Since F calculated (98.160) is greater than
iv
F critical (3.85) and the P value is less than 0.05, led to the rejection of null hypotheses and thus adoption of the alternative hypothesis. The implication is that, student discipline is a significant predictor of student academic performance at national standardized examinations among public secondary schools in Nyamira County. Hence there is need to improve on Parent’s involvement in student discipline. This will help to curb some of the challenges in instilling discipline like lack of cooperation from parents, different lifestyle and societal norms the hinder disciplinary measures. The study recommends that other stakeholders like NGOs and Faith Based Organisations should be engaged in policy development as to foster smooth implementation of all programmes towards improved academic performance in the public secondary schools within the study area. In conclusion, parental involvement, school financing and student discipline components are significant towards improvement and academic performance of public secondary schools of Nyamira County, Kenya
Incubation-Transforming Agenda Under COVID-19 Pandemic Canopy: A Framework for Private School Teacher Professional Development (TPD)
The persistence of life-threatening coronavirus pandemic worldwide paints an ominous outlook characterized by a haze of depression-extended uncertainties and pessimistic speculations. But it is not completely hopeless because the COVID-19 canopy provides an insidious respite for self-reflection beyond previous non-COVID 19 normal. Under new normal COVID-19 experiences is a window of life-relearning opportunity to review and plan-execute gestation ideas or development projects in anticipatory good times to come. And life-relearning under any circumstance is directly or indirectly live-education in transition. Defined as the delivery and application of knowledge, education as always requires the teaching community as a catalytic transformer for school-processing knowledge, and a major conduit of transmitting student-acquired knowledge often in the national language of the country, supported by the lingua franca – the English language – of international business and global communication. In this regard therefore the proposed 10-principle pathway TPD (Teacher Professional Development) Framework is share-reflected to engage discourse exchange-feedback on its viability and efficacy to transform private independent secondary school novice teachers into professional teachers in Malaysia, whose professionalism is benchmarked by 3-criteria vocation-relevant set of knowledge update, upskill competency and ethics accountability to further value-add and value-create in the public interest of private schooling contribution to building a formidable Malaysian nation
