Social Connectedness, Self-Directed Practices and Soft Skills among Selected Malaysian Higher Learning Institutions
Students of Higher Learning Institutions (HLI) have been found to be lacked of soft skills attainment, which have been viewed as important requirements for employment, personal well-being and life-long learning. To counter this issue, the programme standard by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) had included the general courses in the curriculum known as the ‘Kemahiran Insaniah’ (KI), the term generally used in Public HLI or ‘Matapelajaran Pengajian Umum’ (MPU) for Private
HLI. This study believes that students’ connectedness with the campus lecturers,
campus students, and off-campus community were associated with the attainment of
social skills, professional values, and social responsibility. A quantitative research was adopted by using multiple choice questions measuring student learning outcomes selected and survey questionnaires on social connectedness and self-directed practices.
A total of 682 Diploma respondents were selected from ten stratified locality of Public and Private higher learning institutions in Malaysia. Data were collected and analysed using the SPSS and PLS-SEM. Findings indicated that 91% respondents were able to demonstrate good social responsibility, followed by 75% with good professional
values and 64% with good social skills. Partial least square regression analysis results showed that campus lecturers connectedness had a positive significant relationship with professional values (β= 0.17). Campus students connectedness had a positive significant relationship with social skills (β= 0.19), and social responsibility (β= 0.20). Off-campus community connectedness showed a negative significant relationship with social skills (β= -0.13) and professional values (β= -0.12). In addition, self-directed practices (mediator) increased the relationship strength from β= 0.17 to 0.21, between the campus lecturers connectedness and professional values. Besides, this study also showed that there was a significant difference between Public and Private HLI for social skills (t= 4.10) and professional values (t= 8.58). The implication of this study
highlighted the dominant influence of campus lecturers connectedness in nurturing professional values among the students. Future studies may be required on the different
types of collaboration with the off-campus community connectedness to further justify the negative reactions given in terms of social learning relations. Theoretically, connectedness in the environment aspect concurred with the social learning theory that reciprocally determines the changes between practice and behaviour
Examining Organizational Culture and Employee Performance: The Case of the Auditor General's Office, Zambia
This study investigated the influence of the Annual Performance Appraisal System (APAS) on employee performance in the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) of Zambia. Specifically, the study focuses on whether organizational culture has an effect on employee performance in the OAG despite the implementation of the Annual Performance Appraisal System. The study used a mixed method approach to collect and analyse data. The results of the study showed that organizational culture can influence employee performance despite implementation of an annual performance appraisal system. The implications of the results reiterate the value of re - designing the APAS so that it takes into account factors such as organizational culture that currently affect its influence on enhancing employee performance in the OAG
Improving Organization Effectiveness in Manufacturing Through Lean Initiatives in Configure-To-Order (CTO) Production of Efficient Customer Delivery
Organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency have become significantly importance in the manufacturing industry. ‘Lean’ initiatives involve execution and evaluation, the former benchmarking Six Sigma is Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC), and the latter involves three criteria of key performances indicators, viz., the lean principle assessment framework (internal), cost-related matters (external), and customer expectations. Both these processes are directed at improving manufacturing process to gain a potent momentum in mass customization: CTO production. The objective of this research is to explore how mass customization, specific to CTO production, can adopt ‘lean’ to improve manufacturing process performance levels for organizational effectiveness, thereby increasing business competitiveness, and focusing on the manufacturing process of CTO work efficiency-quality product delivery at the factory floor level. The case study approach is employed to investigate how the ‘lean’ approach can improve the CTO manufacturing process. This research contributes to knowledge in the area of production and operations management, in particular: (a) highlighting the importance of ‘organization and customer values’ through ‘lean’ improvements to its results; and (b) mapping performance measurement relationship which extends to the sustainability, commitment and shared configured-processes results of quality end-product delivery to satisfied customers
Technology Readiness and Usability of Office Automation System in Suruban Areas.
Readiness and usability issues are important attributes of an information system (IS) success. Currently, IS studies that have been assessing the issues in suburban areas are still limited. The purpose of this study was to measure the above-mentioned phenomena by combining the readiness and usability models. The proposed model consisted out 10 constructs with 25 indicators. The four constructs were from the readiness model and the six ones were the usability model. The 89 samples were collected using an online survey based on purposive random sampling. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method with SmartPLS 3.2.8 was used for analyzing the data. The findings may have contributed to the IS research field, in terms of the readiness and usability issues on the IS use in
a suburban area in Indonesia

Pengurusan Hidupan Liar Dalam Kawasan Pembanunan Empangan Di Hutan Simpan Seluyut
