    Get PDF
Counterfeit drugs impose risk to human life and properties. Many organizations globally are involved in campaigning for counterfeit drugs control. Almost all these efforts are focused on control at various stages of production and supply chain, while less or rare efforts are invested at terminal intervention by the end users. In this paper, a historical background of some of the existing applications of ICT to counterfeit drug control is presented. These basically revolve round the Global System of Mobile Communication (GSM), mainly voice and text; Internet technology is faintly mentioned. The paper is expected to provide background resource for an efficient and effective information system capable of preventing and/or minimizing the risks resulting from counterfeit drugs. The ultimate goal is to develop products which will assist counterfeit drug control agencies and health information related agencies

Postal service is essential to the efficient functioning of the economy and society as a whole, with its extensive physical connectivity and network across the country. However, there is increasing competition from the threats of technological innovations. The aim of this study is to analyse what drives customer loyalty in the Malaysian postal sector in the e-commerce era. The study investigated the following constructs together with customer loyalty: service quality with dimensions according to SERVQUAL model, customer satisfaction in a mediator role, and transformation programmes and e-commerce as moderating variables. 315 post office customers were surveyed with a structured questionnaire using systematic sampling technique. This study revealed that customers are fairly satisfied with the services provided and considered post office personnel as professional, dependable, prompt, courteous and skillful. However, these customers are found to be not loyal enough. Data analysis supports the hypothesis that customer satisfaction mediates the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty. Without customer satisfaction, service quality alone is not sufficient to produce customer loyalty. Transformation programmes are found to be a moderator (despite providing an opposite direction effect) while the path relationship with e-commerce as a moderating variable is found to be not significant. From customers’ perspective, post offices’ lack of e-commerce technology requires action. It should be upgraded for customer convenience and operational efficiency (eg. online system, cashless payment). This research has provided an insight into the level of customer loyalty on the Malaysian postal organisation and the factors influencing it. These findings are vital in providing focus for a postal organisation to attain customer loyalty, which will be invaluable towards achieving profitability and success

—Measurement of IT acceptance at the organizational level is no more sufficient if only based on individual acceptance factors. There is an attempt to measure IT acceptance in organizations by considering organizational culture as a determinant factor. Competitive Value Framework is used to determine the position of the credit union organizations. This study used an organizational culture which derived from the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) and used the value that influences the chosen quadrant as a determinant factor for behavioral intention to use IT. The result showed that Credit Union (CU) in Saluampak placed in Hierarchy quadrant. This result identified four factors: timelines, efficiency, uniformity, and consistency as a value that will use as a determinant of behavioral intention to use IT in CU. The most significant point is that this mapping creates cultural, organizational principles extracted from the hierarchical quadrant and is used as a determinant of conduct purpose to use IT in a CU context

This research investigated the influence of political, social, historical, and natural resources in conflicts and economic devastations in Mogadishu, Somalia. The study employed the Conflict Theory, the Elite Theory of Power and the New War Theory. The conceptualisation focused on politics, social characteristics, natural resources, historical factors variables, and their effect on conflict and economic devastation in the country. The research site was sixteen (16) administrative districts located within Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia. A sample size of 320 participants was recruited from the selected districts. Probability-sampling techniques were employed to minimise biases. Primary data was collected through structured questionnaires and interviews. The data collected during fieldwork was subjected to both quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) tool and thematic analysis, respectively. The findings indicate that politics in Somalia have led to civil wars and protracted violent conflicts and that ethnic manipulation, political exclusion, chronic marginalisation and neglect, and manipulation of state resources are risk factors inciting ethnic violence in Somalia. Further, on examining the social characteristics, the findings have shown a correlation value of -0.322, and the significant value was 0.000, which is less than 0.05, translating that any negative change in social characteristics of areas most affected by war would escalate conflicts and economic devastation in Somalia. The study found a relationship between Somalis' natural resources and conflicts and economic devastation in Somalia as shown by a correlation value of -0.212, the significant value was 0.001, which is less than 0.05, and this reveals that any negative change in the role of various natural resources would escalate conflicts and economic devastation in Somalia. On the other hand, a correlation coefficient was recorded on historical factors leading to conflict and economic devastations in Somalia as shown by a correlation value of -0.212, the significant value was 0.001, which is less than 0.05, and this reveals that any negative change in historical factors leading to conflict would escalate conflicts and economic devastation in Somalia. Based on the study findings, the study concludes that Somalia is the epitome of a politically fragile state, which poses a major challenge to the Somali government and the international community. Historical divisions along clan lines and competition for political and clan leadership positions have resulted in violent conflicts among the Somali people. Scarcity and in-abundance of natural resources significantly contribute to violent conflict, based on the political and socio-economic conditions at play, deterioration of social amenities, mainly in areas most affected by war, reduced average economic growth and increased state fragility in Somalia. There is a need to promote political stability in the region in order to ensure economic growth in Somalia; the government of Somalia needs to focus on not only ending violence but also removing the root causes of instability and creating the conditions necessary for peace. Given that historical and cultural sensitivity plays a significant role in ensuring economic growth in Somalia, the Somali government needs to consider the important unifying role of clannism. There is also a need to institute policies that govern the country's exploitation of natural resources and trade

Design/methodology/approach – An exploratory case study methodology to research five Malaysian Chinese family businesses cases in Klang Valley, Selangor, Malaysia, is used in this study. The primary qualitative data were obtained through in-depth, semi-structured interviews and observations. The research data lead to the identification of the following themes:generational change affects thesurvivalofsmall-medium Malaysian Chinese family-owned businesses; the founder-owners’ intention and desire for business to pass to the next generation give rise to the imperative of succession; the founder-owners’ motive and goals, family context and the business nature would determine a large part to how the succession plans are carried out and theupbringing, expectationandobligationswoulddeterminehowthenextgenerationsofchildrenwouldview the prospect of taking over the family business. From this, a succession model that detailed an inclusive approach to succession planning process between the two generations is established. Research limitations/implications – A small purposive sample is included, and it is recommended that a larger and more diverse sample be collected in future studies. This study follows a nuclear family structure of parents and children. If more Chinese family businesses are selected based on a wider set of family members such as uncles and cousins, the findings may differ. Social implications – This researchstudy could alsofacilitateother Malaysianfamily businesses to rethink and refocus on the importance of undertaking an inclusive approach to succession planning and also help potentialnext-generationsuccessorsinunderstandingandworkingtowardsattainingthequalitiesthatfamily firms look for in future leaders. Originality/value –Theresearchersummarizesthestudyfindingsintoamanagementsuccessionmodel. An inclusive succession approach is needed to overcome these challenges and would enable sustainability, continuity and longevity of the family business. This would help the family business to understand that successionisnotasingleeventbutaprocessthatneedstobeplannedtogetherwiththenext-generationfamily members over a certain period of time

Dan 13 model corak interpersonal pelajar, iaitu "support", "disclosure", "appraisal", "humor", "inquiry", "inform", "opposition", "other", "chastisiment", "advocacy", "sarcasm", "ask", "reserve".

One success factor of an online affiliate is determined by the quality of the content source. Therefore, affiliate marketplaces need to do an objective assessment to retrieve content data that will be used to choose the right product in the appropriate product filter. Usually, the selection is not made using a good and measured system so that the selection of product content is only based on parts that are not in accordance with what is seen or subjective. However, if analyzed using a good and measurable system will produce an objective product content and can have a positive impact on users because the selection is based on factual data. The purpose of this research is to analyze the potential of the affiliate marketplace by combining cosine similarity with vision-based page segmentation. This is a new breakthrough made for optimization to get the best content in accordance with the required criteria. This work will produce a number of product recommendations that are appropriate for publication and then made use of for comparison that matches the required criteria. At the limited evaluation stage, the performance of the proposed model obtained satisfactory results, in which 5 queries tested were all as expecte
