Pattern Transformations: Supporting Learning of Symbolic Representations Among TVET Trainees.
Symbolic representations are a form of language that is routinely used in technical communications.
Trainees in Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) are thus, expected to master symbolic representations
concurrently with skills acquisition. Electrical circuit diagram is an example of symbolic representations in use to communicate information on the components and working concepts of an electrical circuit. Mastering symbolic
representations in circuit diagram however, can be challenge to some which often lead to miscommunications and poor job performance. Problems are further compounded when trainees need to learn symbols associated with
abstract concepts. Inability to master the “symbols language” if remain unchallenged will impact subsequent
learning. Appropriately designed instructional materials to address learning of symbolic representations are thus
crucial. The aim of this paper is to assess the efficacy of two instructional materials for learning symbolic
representations and electrical concepts. A quasi-experimental study with three groups of TVE trainees participated in this study. One group used the existing learning materials (control) while the other two groups used specifically designed pattern transformation materials that are available in two media, print-based and video-based materials. Overall, both experimental groups achieved greater learning on symbolic representations and concepts compared to the control group. Equivalent status was also observed among the experimental groups. This indicates that pattern transformation materials irrespective of media used can be effective at learning symbolic representations

Malaysian Early Childcare and Childhood Education (ECCE) Curriculum: Perspectives of Malaysian ECCE Educationists
Upon realising the importance of early childhood education for the nation’s development, Malaysian
government began to enhance the quality of the ECCE curriculum through policies and legislation. Such developments are evident in the government agenda and several initiatives, including the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) in the 11th Malaysia Plan, the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and the Education Blueprint 2013-2025. The quality of the ECCE curriculum in Malaysia has not yet received the required attention, as the focus continues to remain largely on achieving quantitative academic targets. This qualitative study examined educationists’ perspectives on the quality of current Malaysian Early Childcare and Childhood Education (ECCE) curriculum. The study employed a semi-structured interview protocols to probe the views from 11 Malaysian
educationists. It concludes that educationists believe the documented Malaysian ECCE curriculum today is already aligned with the holistic child development philosophy, but the country may need a higher impact programs of teacher education and training, to produce qualified and competent teachers who would implement the curriculum effectively
Strategic Imperatives for the Post Covid-19 Era: With Special Focus on Sri Lankan Industries
Strategies provide intent for organizations to drive their respective business models. The responsiveness to environment challenges and dynamics is a must for corporates to survive and grow even during turbulent conditions. The term „strategy‟ and its content had been associated in this paper to bridge the explanations and arguments on how strategy should be reshaped when totally unpredicted scenarios emerge. The Covid-19 outbreak provided a lesson, to the entire global market and to rethink the strategic intent of organizations. The strategic imperatives during the outbreak conditions should be carefully planned and
implemented with rationalized business models. This paper attempts to investigate the strategic imperatives and how they need to be connected with proper scenario planning, resulting in a focused-strategic drive. Included are reviews on global business scenarios whilst highlighting some key incidents of global corporates and country situations. This paper provides a platform to understand how Covid-19 outbreak made holistic impacts on economies and societies that ultimately resulted in new-normal adaptation options for corporates. Authors undertook a literature review to unveil the empirical discussions whilst cases of Sri Lankan market were highlighted to explain the real life experiences on how local corporates adopted to new-normal scenarios. The
best practices undertaken by Sri Lankan firms and industries were referred to generate a practise-related knowledge sharing. Finally, this paper concludes the essence of the paper, whilst proposing the importance of reviewing hands-on cases in Sri Lanka to share new knowledge insights to practitioners
Expert System of Initial Anamnesis Process of Menstrual Disorders Using Certainty Factor Method.
Anamnesis is a preliminary examination to obtain information about the patient's disease. This process is carried out by the doctor as part of the initial diagnosis of the patient's condition. The purpose of this research is to assist the history process in eliminating the diagnosis of possible diseases from experts by adopting their knowledge into the expert system. The method used in this study is the Certainty Factor method. Fifty test data collected to test this approach. The test results showed 44 data following expert opinion and obtained an accuracy rate of 88%. These results indicate that the expert system is suitable for the early history of menstrual disorder

The Mediating Role of Attitude in Influencig Consumer Purchase Intention Towards Online Apparel Shopping in Malaysia
Online apparel shopping has gained an immense share in Malaysia's e-commerce market. Despite being one of the top products online, the online apparel purchase intention is not well explored and a minimally researched topic among academicians. Given the potential of this segment, a holistic and integrated framework remain absent, which warrants the goal of this thesis. With Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) as a baseline model, the conceptual framework was extended with attitude as the mediator together with seven variables (perceived risk, web experience, pricing, utilitarian shopping orientation, hedonic shopping orientation, convenience and products and service attributes) to study on the online apparel purchase intention. Specifically, this study pursued to develop a framework that represents the factors influencing consumers' purchase intention and examine the role of attitude as mediator. Based on purposive sampling via Facebook advertising, a total of 314 responses were garnered through a self-administered questionnaire from online shoppers in Malaysia. Through Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), the results revealed that 17 out of 22 hypotheses tested are supported. The model explains a 74 percent variance in attitude and 91 percent variance in purchase intention. The study has established a direct relationship with perceived risk, web experience, pricing, utilitarian shopping orientation, hedonic shopping orientation, and products and service attributes towards attitude. Besides, the study has confirmed a direct relationship with pricing, utilitarian shopping orientation, hedonic shopping orientation, convenience towards online apparel purchase intention. The study has also confirmed the mediating effect with all independent variables except convenience, thus supporting the hypothesis as the mediating variable. Academically, the integrated framework contributes to marketing and online apparel literature by combining TAM, TPB, attitude as the mediator, and other variables in the Malaysian context. These novel findings provide an understanding of consumers' purchase intention and guidance to online retailers and marketers in articulating their marketing strategies to persuade favourable intention towards online apparel
The Effect of Employee, Management, Working Environment, and Safety Culture on Occupational Health and Safety Performance: A Case Study in an Oil and Gas Company in Indonesia
The level of workplace accidents, particularly in large companies such as the oil and gas industry, is crucial to be overcome. Encouragement of occupational health and safety (OHS) is one priority of strategies that must be carried out in the implementation of work in the workplace. This study aims to determine the impact of employee, management, work environment, and safety culture on occupational health and safety (OHS) performance. This paper also discusses the influence of moderating safety culture on the independent variables towards the achievement of safety performance. Using questionnaires to 220 respondents, findings indicate that the safety performance is significantly affected by employee, management, working environment, and safety culture. There are 19 attributes of 4 variables evaluated. All attributes have significantly influenced the OHS performance but 4 attributes of management variables. They are pre and post task safety review, safety work procedure, incident investigation, and detection and monitoring. The research provides the empirical evidence on the significance of Safety Culture as moderator. The safety culture moderates the positive relationship between management and OHS performance as well as working environment and OHS performance. Conversely, safety culture does not influence the positive relationship between employee and the OHS
