Windows into Work from Home in Higher Education Institutions: Challenges of New Normal Culture in Management
The least one would expect of an academic institution of higher learning, as a provider of knowledge delivery and practice – depending on the nature, curricula, programs and standard operating procedure (SOP) governance and compliance, is to become increasingly immersed in the advocacy-practice of new normal culture ensuing the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, prohibitive policy requirements, emaciated businesses and atrophied consumerism, and restrictive mobility in public places and premises of business complexes including the so-called ‘corridors of knowledge’ or the old ‘ivory tower’ of yesteryears.
‘Work from Home’ (WFH) has never been the same again since the concept, years ago in good economic times and experimental employer-employee models of working-managing choices, started as an option of the corporate world to allow its employees to improve productivity with the liberty of WFH environment. Today, under the hovering cloud of death-threatening COVID epidemic and the virusvaccination against its host of mutations, WFH is reshaped by a culture of new norms touted as ‘new normal’. The prevailing normative culture and conventional SOPs of higher institutions of learning are, and its delivery of crisis management results must now become, a phenomenological expression of the new reality to operate education more effective and efficiently.
It is no longer an issue of retaining competitiveness or to claim the trophy of competitive advantage. It is more than an issue of survival but essentially a solution-driven commitment to grow a new direction for education delivery of content, methods and other paraphernalia of teaching-learning tools for beneficiaries, communities, societies and country to generate new values and winning strategies in the public interest. In this paper, ‘iSOS’ (institutional Survival on Sustenance) and ‘iSOWS’ (institution Solutions of Winning Strategies) are tendered as value-conserving and value-creating complementary platforms, without compromising the fundamental philosophical foundation of education per se, to turnaround the inertia of COVID-19 inhibitive disruptions in the management and delivery of the higher education chain of business continuity

Deep-Recurrent Neural Networks Approach for Indonesian Banks Term Deposit Interest Rates Prediction
This digital era has brought a significant impact on banking. Banks have become an intensive subject of data and must optimize data usage for more insight. Banks can explore their data to increase their productivity and sales. A study in 2019 showed XYZ Bank in Indonesia has not yet explored data and did not optimize it to understand customers and their needs better. This study tried to find the best Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) technique to predict Indonesian banks' term deposit interest rates by comparing three popular RNN variants. Those RNN techniques were Simple RNN, LSTM, and GRU, which used historical data from 22 prominent banks in Indonesia covers 2019–2021. This study found that RNN with Simple RNN technique outperformed LSTM and GRU. Simple RNN brought the smallest mean of RMSE with 1,48% RMSE reduction from LSTM and 1,69% RMSE reduction from GR
The Mediating Effect of Student Satisfaction on Self-Directed Learning and Benefits of E-Learning Undergraduate Nursing Education Programmes in Malaysia
E-learning has become an important and ubiquitous instructional tool across a broad range of programmes in institutions of higher education. This is evident today in nursing education whereby e-learning in a blended mode approach provides enormous opportunities for working nurses to further their studies and to enhance their professional development and life-long learning. The purpose of this study was to identify the e-learning success factors in e-learning nursing undergraduate programmes in Malaysia. Specifically, the study aims to investigate the: (1) relationship among self-directed learning (SDL) abilities, e-learning quality, student satisfaction and e-learning benefits; and (2) the mediation effect of student satisfaction on e-learning benefits through self-directed learning abilities and e-learning quality. The conceptual framework for this study is based on DeLone and McLean Information Systems Success Model. This is a cross-sectional quantitative correlational study using a predictive design and multivariate analysis method. Stratified random sampling technique was applied to recruit 241 nursing students through an online survey. The Self-directed Learning Instrument (SDLI) and an E-learning Course Evaluation Survey were used to measure the independent and dependent variables of the study. The variance-based Partial Least Squares Structural Modeling (PLS-SEM) method was employed to analyse the possible effects on the relationships among the variables studied. The findings revealed statistically significant relationships among the factors of SDL abilities, e-learning quality, student satisfaction, and e-learning benefits. Student satisfaction was found to be the strongest predictor (β=0.418) for e-learning benefits followed by e-learning quality (β=0.261) and SDL abilities (β=0.178). In addition, the results showed that there is a mediating effect of student satisfaction on e-learning benefits through SDL abilities and e-learning quality. This study highlights the crucial role of learning environment needs among online learners. A collaborative effort between universities, educators, and support personnel is essential to ensure successful continuous e-learning education for student nurses. It is recommended that future studies further explore other possible factors in the model that could help to enhance successful e-learning in nursing education
INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC ECONOMIC SYSTEM CONFERENCE (I-iECONS 2021)
The COVID-19 pandemic has a significant influence on world economic growth, including Indonesia, which had an impact on
the outflow of foreign funds that reached Rp. 153.7 trillion from the stock market, SBN, SBI from January to April 2020.
Almsgiving will derive to economic balance, where zakat, infaq, and sadaqah will create a transfer of consumption from people who are well off to people in need so that it can generate aggregate supply and demand. The lack of obtaining zakat, infaq, sadaqah and waqf in Bekasi City which is less than 1% of the potential indicates a weakness in Amil Zakat management, so it is necessary to find a model for the effectiveness of collecting and utilizing zakat that will make the enormous potential can be realized. This study is aim to find a model for the collection, distribution, and utilization of Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah in Bekasi City. This study is using qualitative descriptive approach to describe, explain, and interpret the collected data which obtained from Bekasi City in Figures 2020 report (BPS Kota Bekasi 2020). The potential of the ZIS funds used a strategic role model for managing Amil Zakat in Bekasi City with a four-dimensional approach: 1) Islamic social finance (Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah); 2) service process; 3) Muzaki loyalty; 4) Amil's human resources. These four dimensions are the strategic needs of the Amil Zakat Institute, Islamic Social Finance to discuss potential sources of Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah that will be channeled through programs that have an impact on the development of Bekasi City. The explanation in this research is expected to be a driving force to achieve the maximum collection, distribution, and utilization of ZIS in Bekasi City in realizing its potential
Risk Management Analysis of Bus Transportation Application Using COBIT 4.1
The role of information technology in transportation increases, namely in enjoying transportation services. One way to provide the best service for a transportation company to customers is to provide a bus booking application service. One of the companies that offer service applications is a bus transportation application located in Yogyakarta. Because the application system is considered necessary, stakeholders need IT risk management for the bus booking application. The purpose of this research is to analyze the risk management of the bus transportation application. In measuring IT risk management, the author uses the Control Objective for information and Related Technology (COBIT) 4.1 domain Plan and Organize (PO) framework, especially PO9 (Assess and Manage IT risk). The analysis results show that if the bus transportation application is at level 2 in maturity level. It means that the company knows that there are problems that need resolving. Standard risk management in bus transportation applications tends to provide failed access in the progress of its service. The problem is solving individually and not yet at the integrated completion stage. In general, the application management approach needs to improve better management in the field of information technology
Online sustainable fashion brands: Millennials’ attitude, purchase intention and behaviour.
Today’s fashion industry offers a wide variety of clothing at highly affordable prices, thus making clothing highly disposable. While the scenario encourages the growth of the fashion industry, it proves to be detrimental to the environment. Textile waste comprises 4% of the total waste in Malaysia, equivalent to 1,000 metric tons of textile waste per day. As such, there are growing calls for sustainable fashion consumption, leading to the growth of various online sustainable fashion brands, particularly
those targeting millennials. In understanding this specific market, this study was guided by the Theory of Planned Behaviour to investigate the factors contributing to millennials’ attitude towards online sustainable fashion brands, their intention to purchase and their actual purchasing behaviour. Using convenience sampling, an online questionnaire was distributed to relevant WhatsApp and Facebook groups, resulting in 229 respondents for the study. The findings indicate that customers’ endorsement and ethical beliefs of sustainable fashion were the most significant predictors in influencing consumers’ attitude, followed by family environmental beliefs and celebrity endorsement. However, peer pressure, environmental concerns and subjective norms do not have a significant relationship with attitude. Additionally, perceived behavioural control also positively and significantly predicts attitude, purchasing intention and purchasing behaviour of sustainable fashion brands. Finally, the study shows conclusive relationships between attitude, purchasing intention and purchasing behaviour of sustainable fashion brands. The study’s theoretical contribution and practical implications are presented as well
Expert System for Heart Disease Based on Electrocardiogram Data Using Certainty Factor with Multiple rule
Limited public health services in remote areas, where the lack of transportation infrastructure, facilities, communication facilities and minimal medical personnel, especially for areas with underdeveloped, foremost, and
regular (3T) status. The limitation of medical personnelis one of the factors for the high mortality rate of heart disease. On the other hand, the development of information technology, especially in the field of computing, is very fast in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, but not yet used optimally, especially in the health sector. System testing is carried out from the results of the system validity with experts, so that the system test results produce a certainty factor value for a normal heart of 0.95 and an
accuracy level of 95%, while the certainty factor (CF) value for an abnormal heart is 0.99 and produces an accuracy rate of 99
The Aging Warriors: A Study on the Retiring Oil and Gas Professionals
International Oil and Gas organizations face the gruelling task of juggling the right talent for the job, or risk cost over-run due to inefficient talent management while executing multiple projects simultaneously. The cost, time and quality of the project are governed by evolving demand and supply in this industry. There is a shift in the current approach in
resource management to cushion the ageing workforce constraints in the Oil and Gas industry.
It is a fact that the crucial knowledge is diluted as these seniors leave the industry without proper handover and documented lessons learned. This study was conducted in a Malaysian Oil and Gas company context. The rich meaning was extracted from semi-structured interviews, which derived the key causes of skill shortage in Oil and Gas. The objective was to find a governance matrix easily adaptable for senior expert workers and retirees in a postCOVID environment. Qualitative findings highlight five key elements in effective knowledge
downloading; namely experience, knowledge, manpower, tools and skills. This is intertwined with the issue of an ageing workforce. This paper will deliberatechallenges faced in project management and suggests the best method in adapting the ageing workforce dilemma. Findings
in the study indicate that there is an equal correlation of the gaps studied in producing optimal results; with the strong importance of optimizing experiences of the senior workforce. Project management systems demand continuity as the old is replaced with the new generational workers. The catalyst to dynamic resource management is governance; it reflects increased
efficiency in the organization as a whole. The interpretations and conclusions are suited for Oil and Gas skill group enhancement, but generalized to suit other knowledge-dependent
industries
