Kto wiedzie rewolucjonistów? O funkcjonalizmie translatorskim w niektórych polskich wersjach Dwunastu Aleksandra Błoka

The article consists of three parts. In the first part, the author interprets the poem of A. Blok as a modernist variant of a “Petersburg Text”, in the second – proposes and explains the formula of the “translation functionalism”, and in the third part, uses it in the analysis of the three Polish translations of The Twelve. The author proves that each of the translators: Wacław Denhoff-Czarnocki, Seweryn Pollak and Wiktor Woroszylski choose a different principle of coherence of the text. This is shown both in the modeling of the city area as well as the social features of the characters. Consequently, three different interpretations of enigmatic epilogue are created, in which the revolutionaries are preceded by Christ carrying a “bloody flag”.The article consists of three parts. This paper is the analysis of Götz and Meyer (Gec i Majer, 1998) by David Albahari (b. 1948), the writer of Serbian and Jewish origin. His novel belongs to the Holocaust-literature and its metanarrative structure calls into question the problem of transferring radical historic moment into fiction. The article focuses on the interrelations between fiction and fact, imagination and history, as well as the traumatic experience recognized as the opportunity to identify with the experience of Holocaust victims. Albahariʼs novel proves that remembering of dramatic events from the past can be activated both by imagination and traumatic experience. This paper is the analysis of Götz and Meyer (Gec i Majer, 1998) by David Albahari (b. 1948), the writer of Serbian and Jewish origin. On Viktor Shklovsky’s Penchant for Forms

In the article, I have decided to sketch a brief portrait of the most significant Russian formalist Viktor Shklovsky. In order to comment upon his contribution to the development of literary theory, I cast some light on his original term ostranenie (estrangement, defamiliarization), which allows the formalist to expose the essential features of writing based on unlimited changes of the plot: they always assume a participation of irony, parody, and reinvention in art. The listed devices determine the progress in literature, which makes use of the old conventions to create new ones what occurs in the course of transgressing consolidated forms and functions. What is more, the process of transgression (or – to be more precise – self-transgression) is manifested by a disruptive activity of irony at the same time collaborating with literary traditions and thwarting them with the force of the eternal, perpetual reinvention. In the article, I have decided to sketch a brief portrait of the most significant Russian formalist Viktor Shklovsky. Conventions of Radka Denemarková’s Novel Peníze od Hitlera (Money from Hitler) along with its Reception

Radka Denemarková’s Peníze od Hitlera (Money from Hitler), edited in 2006, is a succesful novel. It has been perceived by critics as a significant work and traslated into ten languages. Despite this positive response, it is my belief that the novel is not an outstanding work. The construction of the text is full of stereotypes. It uses well-worn narrative procedures, conventional images and symbols as well as banal metaphors. That is why the credibility of the characters and situations presented in Peníze od Hitlera disappears very often. There is also a preexisting model of this novel, the play Der Besuch der alten Dame (1956, The Visit of the Old Lady), written by Friedrich Dürrenmatt. Unlike Dürrenmat, Denemarková emphasizes the dark scenes and the melodramatic emotionality of her novel. Therefore, her work is close to conventional clichés.Radka Denemarková’s Peníze od Hitlera (Money from Hitler), edited in 2006, is a succesful novel. Odnos forme i funkcije u arhitekturi baroknog razdoblja

    Get PDF
The paper presents relations between form and function in the architecture on few selected examples of theoretical texts. Interrelation of form and function is analyzed on examples of the most important types of baroque architecture – the castle and the church. Baroque castle has a key role in the creation and validation of the power of rulers, enfilade rooms and ceremonial staircase have function of stage on which the ruler displays himself and his power, but also at the same time, reflects strictly hierarchical social system of baroque. In religious architecture, relations between form and function are more regulated. In Instructiones… (1577) of the Council of Trent, the emphasis in the design has been placed on the fulfillment of the functions of post-Tridentine liturgy, from the layout of plan to the new meaning of the triumphal arch. However, the regulations are most clearly expressed at the end of the 18th century, in demand for functionality as the primary goal of a sacred space. Following the adoption of Enlightenment ideas in Central Europe, churches are build according to claim that their design should be “useful and purposeful”, according to the request of Joseph II.The paper presents relations between form and function in the architecture on few selected examples of theoretical texts.
