International audienceIn situ observation and description of Quaternary sedimentary formations is a preliminary stage that complements laboratory studies. First of all, they enable us to propose an initial characterisation of their texture, structure and organic matter content. These qualitative characteristics are then used to construct initial hypotheses in terms of sedimentary dynamics and depositional environment. However, this approach is not sufficient to propose reference chronostratigraphies or to compare the intensity of the sedimentary processes studied. For this, quantitative data is necessary and can only be obtained from laboratory measurements. Two case studies in Corsica illustrate how field observation and laboratory analysis provide different but complementary information, and how they can be integrated to provide a coherent chronostratigraphic picture. Similarly, the rise of GIS shows the value of spatial studies for understanding sedimentary dynamics at the scale of a catchment area. Given the interdisciplinary nature of this method, an analysis strategy must be put in place from the very first phases of field observation, taking into account the subsequent stages of the study. The contribution, compilation and harmonisation of all field data and laboratory analyses in a common geo-referenced database is one of the avenues I am developing as part of my research and geomorphological and geoarchaeological diagnostic activities at Inrap.L’observation et la description in situ des formations sédimentaires quaternaires est une étape préliminaire et complémentaires des études en laboratoire.
A “New Economy” of Blockbusters?: Netflix, Algorithms and the Narratives of Transformation in Audiovisual Capitalism
International audienceThis chapter analyzes the rhetoric surrounding the rise of subscription video on demand (SVOD) platforms such as Netflix regarding the impact of their recommendation algorithms on the economics of audiovisual production. Carried out by industry players as well as by media commentators—and even academics—this rhetoric sees such algorithms as central to a profound transformation of risk minimization strategies in the media. Observing Netflix’s socioeconomic strategies since its entry into content production, our analysis will show that, while the idea of a more and more algorithm-driven cultural production is expanding, the actual strategies tend instead to follow traditional logics of the audiovisual industry. Therefore, a more theory-oriented discussion will aim at understanding this whole rhetoric as a myth in the history of audiovisual capitalism

We’re all the Same: Collective Narcissists’s Cross-National Support for Putin and Russian Military Attacks
National narcissism is associated with support for nationalist and anti-democratic leaders and decisions in one's own country. We hypothesize that it might also relate to more favorable judgments of outgroup nationalism leaders and actions, even if the latter may pose a threat to the ingroup. Using the context of the Russian attack on Ukraine, we hypothesize that people with a higher level of national narcissism would be more supportive of Russian attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the Russian people. This may be due to a higher perception of belief similarity to Putin and Russians. We also considered the moderating role of the explicit target of the attack (Ukraine vs. ingroup). We tested our hypotheses in two studies (Study 1: N = 339 French; Study 2: N = 400 Americans). In both studies, national narcissism was related to a judgment of the attack (on Ukraine or the ingroup) as less immoral and, in France, to a better opinion of Putin. These effects were mediated by perceived belief similarity. In both studies however, these less negative judgment of the attack and of Putin did not extend to Russians people. Our results highlight that national narcissists are inclined to support a nationalist outgroup leader and his violent actions, although these may ultimately harm the ingroup
