The article presents the results of the field and reporter work on folk healers, which I carried out in the region of Podlasie. In my article I want to explain the issues  of discourse in which magic and religion are entangled, and depict as they relate to the local residents. It also has the task of documenting specific magical techniques used by healers called “Szeptuchy”. I examined those aspects personally by visiting any case that is mentioned in the article and by carrying out appropriate conversations and being the subject to their treatment. I also witnessed and was the object of those techniques, therefore, I was able to get closer to the true nature of the mentioned unique in the country phenomenon. It seems that this phenomenon should remain intact in possibly every aspect and cherished in its specific isolation and purity, unsullied by the contemporary globalist will of profit. The article presents the results of the field and reporter work on folk healers, which I carried out in the region of Podlasie. The present article aims at analyzing one of the modern drama\u27s strategies  — playing with a classical text. Boris Akunin\u27s Hamlet. Version, which is at the core of my interests, is comparable to such famed Hamlet’s alterations as Tom Stoppard\u27s Rosenkrantz and Guilderstern Are Dead. The uniqueness of Akunin\u27s work lays in building the individual strategy, while taking into the mass recipient consideration. The forecast is not comforting — consumers are getting less and less sensitive and adequately formed to perceive  art. But one cannot say that Akunin is descending to his readers narrow horizons. He is  a mediator between highbrow and lowbrow, always beyond, never belonging to any category. The present article aims at analyzing one of the modern drama\u27s strategies  — playing with a classical text. This research is dedicated to the issue of the classical drama reception, which  is supposed to be canonical, used in the play of Odessian playwright Alexandr Mardan. The concept of modern times appears in Mardan’s plays through the literary and cultural inheritance of the past. The usage of Chekhov’s motives in both plays we deal with — Antract and Anshlag seems not only to resemble the form used in the mass culture, but also stylization and reinterpretation of the classic, which appear here as modern literary devices through which the interpretation of canonical drama occurs.  In both plays one can observe a lack of presentation of classical motives in a modern, revolutionary form, there is no retrieval to the precedent writings with the final idea  of elaborating on Chekhov thoughts. Furthermore, the classical motives are used for the reinterpretation of how theater may influence the modern human being and how endless the attempts to interpret the classic are. This research is dedicated to the issue of the classical drama reception, which  is supposed to be canonical, used in the play of Odessian playwright Alexandr Mardan. The present article aims at analysing the topic of children’s death in children’s books of the acknowledged authors: Astrid Lindgren’s The Brothers Lionheart and Vladislav Krapivin’s Alik the Striped Giraffe. The core of the research consists in the approach to the phenomenon of premature death as seen by both authors. The elements of the fictional universe, especially space, time and characters, in terms of constructing the particular approach to death and, by such, influencing the young reader are analysed. Moreover, the paper makes an attempt to interpret the plot as either taming the fear of the death or glorifying the life and objecting to the idea of death of children as a whole. The present article aims at analysing the topic of children’s death in children’s books of the acknowledged authors: Astrid Lindgren’s The Brothers Lionheart and Vladislav Krapivin’s Alik the Striped Giraffe. The article deals with the issue of the chronotope distinguishing features both in literature and in fine arts. The artists\u27 attempts to include the category of time into painting and their speculations on the problem have been highlighted in the paper. Such concepts as sujet and rhythm, their relevance to fine arts have been brought into focus. Being a part of a principal study of the writers-artists’ oeuvres, the current paper contains the collected data on the painters’ transition from fine arts as a spatial one to literature. Their conversion to a new artistic field was caused by the desire to create temporal art and experiment with artistic time continuum. The article deals with the issue of the chronotope distinguishing features both in literature and in fine arts. The article analyzes three pieces of Russian, Ukrainian and Polish contemporary literature on the subject of “the death in Venice”. The authors of the works, by referring to the literary tradition, consciously strengthen the myth of the "the city of death". In their interpretations this myth has two dimensions: the general and the individual. In the general dimension the vision of a dying beauty and fading power encourages reflection on the transitory nature of civilization. The individual dimension is based on the sense of identification of a dying character with a "dying" city, i.e. Venice. The article analyzes three pieces of Russian, Ukrainian and Polish contemporary literature on the subject of “the death in Venice”. Eastern Slavonic cultures are often a conglomeration of patterns of several cultures, which resulted from the past. As Paul Ricouer said, the past is a place of our hidden identity, hurt by the greatest disaster of the twentieth century — bloody regimes. Nazism and bolshevism left their mark on the western world, whose painful consequences we still face today. Bieszczady is a part of Poland, which suffered particularly acutely during and after WWII. It is a place with a kind of a legend, becoming more and more appreciated, because of its tourist attractions, unspoiled nature, magical and largely virginal landscapes. This is a very important area for Slavonic identity, a place with a rich and troubled history — Bieszczady witnesses the actions of the Ukrainian InsurgentArmy and Operation “Vistula”. This article concerns this question, presents excerptsof interviews and memories of participants in those events and shows Bieszczady as a region of the heterogeneous Slavonic culture and a place of memory — both individual and collective

The main goal of this article was to examine the role of loneliness in the short stories by Yevgeny Kharitonov, whose pieces are considered to be representative for Russian gay literature (LGBT Literature) of the Soviet period. This article explores the reasons why loneliness and its subsequent stages became the main motif of Kharitonov\u27s literary work. The term "sterile loneliness", brought to light by Eduard Limonov, perfectly reflects the deep sense of loneliness which is the worst struggle in the main character’s life. The author of this article attempts to show the psychological figure of a lonely and love-awaiting character in the short stories by Yevgeny Kharitonov. The main goal of this article was to examine the role of loneliness in the short stories by Yevgeny Kharitonov, whose pieces are considered to be representative for Russian gay literature (LGBT Literature) of the Soviet period.
