ICT Availability and Uses among Yemeni University EFL Students
Get PDFThis research is an in-depth study to explore the availability and use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the departments of English, Yemen. This study aimed to compare public and private universities of Yemen in using ICT tools in the process of studying English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Two questions were used to formulate the study questionnaire and to collect data from 240 students from three public universities and 163 students from private universities. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS. The findings showed a disparity in the usages of ICT by students of Public and Private Universities due to a lack of adequate equipment and good infrastructure. However, the findings of the present study also showed that there is no difference in using computers by students of public and private universities in Yemen which highlights that the education system in Yemen seems to be the same in using ICT tools in learning English. In the case of internet connection, it is found that the availability of internet connection is better in public universities than in private universities

The Influence of Selected Marketing Strategies on the Brand Favorability: A Special Reference to the Yemeni Market
Get PDFThe objective of this study is to determine the role of marketing strategies in brand favorability. It is a primary data research where data was collected through questionnaire. For analyzing purpose, AMOS and SPSS software have been used. A convenient sampling method was applied to select the respondents. The EFA is applied to construct the study dimensions. The validity and reliability were testing using the CFA outcomes. To test the hypotheses, the Structural Equation Modeling was used. The study found that, there is a positive and direct impact between distribution strategy, labeling strategy, advertising strategy, and brand favorability. Theoretically, the results can be used as a start point for making deep research in the same area. Practically, the results provide marketing managers with many suggestions for improving marketing strategies. Board characteristics and banks profitability: empirical evidence from India
Get PDFThe present paper seeks to examine the association between board characteristics and banks profitability. The study is based on convenience sampling of 10 Indian banks for the period from 2010 to 2019. Banks profitability is measured by return on assets, return on capital employed, profit after tax and return on net worth, while board of directors’ characteristics is measured by board of directors’ size, board of directors’ composition, board of directors’ diligence, board executive directors and board promoters. The study is used leverage, size, and liquidity as controlling variables. Fixed and random effects models are used for analyzing the data. The findings revealed that Total board size positively and significantly impacts return on assets, Return on capital employed, Profit after detecting tax and Return on net worth, while percentage of promoter negatively and insignificant impacts return on assets, Return on capital employed, profit after detecting tax and Return on net worth. The present study contributes to the existing literature by examining the impact of board characteristics which includes board promoters and executive directors on Indian banks profitability

Analysis of Cyber Bullying on Facebook Using Text Mining

The ubiquity of internet connectivity has enabled an increase in the volume and pace of cyberbullying activities because the criminals no longer need to be physically present when committing the crime. This work aims to analyze and predict cyberbullying on Facebook using Naïve Bayes algorithm. The score accuracy, classification report, and confusion matrix are also employed to assess the performance of the classifier. The accuracy of the classifier is 0.95(95%) which means the model can predict 95 of every 100 instances correctly. Also, the result of the experimental analysis shows that Naïve Bayes is effective in classifying a word into a bully or non-bully word and can identify the category of the bully word that is being sent online

Developing Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) in English for Palestine (EFP) Textbooks for Grade Seven
Get PDFThis research aims to investigate Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) in English for Palestine (EFP) textbooks A and B for grade seven. It adopts Byram's (1997) model as a theoretical framework for analyzing the content of grade seven textbooks. It also explores the categories and levels of cultural content to develop intercultural communicative teaching in English teaching. Further, it pinpoints different strategies to develop and promote ICC in teaching. In this qualitative research, the researcher uses content analysis. The findings show that the analysis of the Palestinian English textbooks for grade seven A and B develops ICC to a great extent. Moreover, many interactive strategies and pedagogical methods are used in these textbooks to develop ICC such as role play, poems, reports, emails, and conversations. Based on the research findings, English for Palestine textbooks for grade seven increase the awareness towards the Palestinian culture and deepen students' recognition of their identity, language and religion. It is concluded that these textbooks successfully enhance students' critical awareness and understanding of other cultures besides having a sense of pride of their own culture. In light of the research findings, the researcher recommends conducting empirical researches to measure the impact of ICC on students' language proficiency form the stakes holders' perceptions in the field of English language teaching

Our approachrelies on the properties of a green function, Banach's contraction principle, and Schauder's fixed point technique on a cone. Usability Evaluation using Eye-Tracking on E-Commerce and Education Domains
Get PDFThe rapid consumption of content on the web and the creation of online businesses and educational platforms require improved usability for the user. It also calls for concerted effort to understand users' interactions with these digital products and services. This study was carried out to investigate the search and scan patterns employed by users interacting with the selected web interface from the e-commerce and education domains and also to establish the possibility of a localized interface design patterns in Nigeria. Usability evaluation was conducted using OGAMA software as an eye-tracking tool, to record as well as to analyze eye and mouse tracking data from slideshow eye-tracking experiments concurrently. During the evaluation period, fixation count, fixation length and saccade length of each website were taken into the consideration. Findings revealed that educational based site delivers users’ need than that of e-commerce due to less level of distraction as a result of fewer images and pictures. The study recommends that interface designs should be void of the display of excessive ad contents and include proper formatting of navigation items to contribute towards an enhanced user experience.
