Computation of approximate solution to COVID-19 mathematical model

    Get PDF
In this work, we investigate a modified population model of non-infected and infected (SI) compartmentsto predict the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19 in Pakistan. For Approximate solution, we use LaplaceAdomian Decomposition Method (LADM). With the help of the said technique, we develop an algorithmto compute series type solution to the proposed problem. We compute few terms approximate solutionscorresponding to different compartment. With the help of MATLAB, we also plot our approximate solutionsfor different compartment graphically

E-learning: An effective mode of teaching English as a Second Language

    Get PDF
The benefits of e-learning in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) are huge. The outbreak of the dreaded COVID19 pandemic has forced schools, colleges and universities to temporarily remain closed to fight the contagion. E-learning or online learning is a learning method which has been employed in such a difficult scenario to continue the teaching-learning process. E-learning uses various tools and systems to optimize the teaching-learning process through online platforms. For teaching ESL, the teachers should explore collaborative learning, communicative language teaching, and communicative task-based language teaching to enable learners to effectively participate in the e-learning process. The use of these approaches engages the students to interact and perform the assigned tasks enabling them to effectively learn the language in the online platform. The paper explores the various e-learning practices into making effective teaching of English as a second language. Various e-learning tools like the internet, video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Google Meet and Webex, Google Classroom, YouTube, podcast and vodcast, online-boards, mobile phones, and social networking sites like WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter are explored to efficiently teach English as a second language. Further, the study investigated and analyzed an ESL classroom where various e-learning tools are used

Experimental Analysis Of Generic Antibiotics Along With Honey Sensitivity Against Microbial Flora Obtained From Frozen Hilsa Fish (Tenualosa ilisha)

    Get PDF
This study deals with the in-vitro experimental analysis of different generic antibiotics and season based honey, sensitivity against isolated bacteria. The characterization of  bacteria isolated from the frozen hilsa is done through various biochemical reactions The antibacterial sensitivity  of honey and antibiotics are evaluated through zone of inhibition analysis of bacterial colony. So, it is obvious that this experiment provides providential values for future research including food value analysis

On the iterative methods for solving fractional initial value problems: new perspective

    Get PDF
In this short communication, we introduce a new perspective for a numerical solution of fractional initial value problems (FIVPs). Basically, we split the considered FIVP into FIVPs on subdomains which can be solved iteratively to obtain the approximate solution for the whole domain

Strategies and mitigation devices in the speech act of disagreement in American English

    Get PDF
The present study aimed at exploring the strategies of disagreement and hedging devices used by native speakers of English. The study elicited the informants’ reactions when disagreeing with higher, equal, and lower status. The responses were analyzed using Brown and Levinson’s (1987) politeness model and Hyland’s (1998) hedging taxonomy. Discourse completion test data was analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings revealed that native speakers of American English used positive politeness strategies considerably with higher and equal status interlocutors (father, teacher, and friends). The respondents were concerned with saving their interlocutors’ positive face regardless of their social distance and power. The only significant difference, in terms of strategy selection, was identified in highly face-threatening contexts (accusation), where the informants opted for bald on record politeness strategies because of the seriousness of the interlocutor’s (supervisor) claims (plagiarism). The data showed also that native speakers relied on hedges considerably to mitigate their disagreements

Challenges and Opportunities in a Local College in Time of COVID-19 Pandemic

    Get PDF
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented challenges and opportunities to higher education institutions all over the world. This paper adds to the growing literature on new perspectives in education amidst the global pandemic. It discusses challenges and opportunities in the context of a local higher education institution. Inputs from teaching and non-teaching personnel were considered. Documentary analysis of proposed transition plans and actions plans from the different departments of the college was made. Recommendations to address these challenges were presented, which served as a basis in the formulation of a transition program in upgrading/sustaining quality education in a local college attuned to the needs of the times

More Properties of Fractional Proportional Differences

    Get PDF
The main aim of this paper is to clarify the action of the discrete Laplace transform on the fractional proportional operators. First of all, we recall the nabla fractional sums and differences and the discrete Laplace transform on a time scale equivalent to hZh\mathbb{Z}. The discrete hh-Laplace transform and its convolution theorem are then used to study the introduced discrete fractional operators

Considering Machine Translation (MT) as an Aid or a Threat to the Human Translator: : The Case of Google Translate

    Get PDF
The present study aimsto evaluate the output quality of an online MT; namely, Google Translate, from English into Persian and compare its output with the translations made by the human translators to find out that whether MT applicationsare considered as an aid or a threat tohuman translators. For the application of the study, the researcher designed a translation test consisting of 60 statements from different types of texts proposed by Reiss(1989). The translation test was translated via Google Translate and administrated to three human translators to be rendered. The translations made by Google Translate and by the three human translators alongside the 60 statements were given to 40 judges tobe evaluated based on Dorr et al. s' (2010) criterion of MT quality assessment, including semantic adequacy, fluency, and understandability. As results indicated, Google Translate gave a good overall performance in the translation of the 60 statements into Persian in terms of semantic adequacy and understandability, but not in terms of fluency. Thus, there should be no fear of human translatorsbeing replaced by the MT. As conclusion, MT applicationscannot be considered a threat to human translators, butas an aid for them. The present study also offers some recommendations that can be beneficial to translation students, trainee translators, translation teachers, and professional translators

A comprehensive review of nocellulosic biomass and potential production of bioenergy as a renewable resource in Pakistan.

    Get PDF
Global energy security, as well as environmental concerns, are major motivators for increased biomass usage around the world, especially in developing countries like Pakistan. Developing countries are experiencing a severe energy shortage. To fulfill its energy needs, the country spends about $7 billion per year on fossil fuel important benefits from nearly 159 million animals producing nearly 652 million kg of manure per day, which can be used to generate 16.3 million m3 biogas per day and 21 million tons of biofertilizer annually. In the year 2000, the Pakistani government launched the Biogas Support Program (BSP). It has already installed 1200 biogas units and plans to install another 10,000 in the next five years, Nearly a quarter of the country's biogas capacity comes from this area. The cost of conventional fuel is projected to be 92,062 PKR per year for a biogas unit with a 10 m3 range. The implementation of biogas units is said to have increased women's opportunity costs, resulting in a positive effect on household income. The demand for biogas renewable energy systems is strong, and the number of these systems is steadily increasing. They are simple to implement and can be completed on a shoestring budget. For the 70% of the country's population who live in rural areas, a biogas energy corridor may be a viable alternative. An additional alternative is to build plants to bottle biogas. The government should formulate a policy that allows for the delivery of this technology to farmers' doorsteps. The article outlines the overall progress on Pakistan's existing biogas use scenario, as well as the potential for biogas and fertilizer, as well as the economic advantages of biogas over conventional fuels. This is the first time anything like this has happened, and it's great to see findings announced with such precision
