Simulation modeling with memory-type control charts for monitoring the process variability
Memory-type control charts, renowned for their effectiveness in identifying small deviations in the process variance, are commonly used to monitor the process variability. In this article, we introduce a new tool, the Quadruple Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (QEWMA) chart, which is designed for the specific purpose of monitoring changes in the process variability. We refer to this chart as the -QEWMA chart. The performance of the -QEWMA chart is assessed through an extensive series of Monte-Carlo simulations, carefully considering the run-length distribution. Comparing it with other well-known memory-type charts, it becomes evident that the -QEWMA chart excels in its ability to effectively detect small shifts in the process dispersion. To illustrate the practical application of this chart, we provide an example
Security analysis of the data of social networks using AI techniques
This proposed research explores the potential of AI techniques, particularly user engagement prediction, for analyzing social network data and identifying potential security threats. Utilizing a Random Forest classifier, we developed a highly accurate model achieving 100% accuracy and a 1.0 AUC-ROC score. This exceptional performance demonstrates the ability of engagement prediction to accurately flag suspicious accounts with unusually low engagement, often associated with bots or fake profiles. Based on these findings, we implemented mitigation strategies such as flagging low-engagement accounts for further investigation and analyzing engagement trends to inform proactive security measures. Furthermore, our work opens doors for future research in combining engagement prediction with other AI techniques like sentiment analysis for even more sophisticated threat detection, ultimately contributing to the development of robust solutions for enhanced social network security and user privacy protection
A Study on the Use of Suggestion Strategies among Yemeni Learners of English
The current study attempts to investigate the use of suggestion strategies among Yemeni learners of English at private universities. The participants of the study were 41 undergraduate students from English Department in the three private universities. The data were collected using a Discourse Completion Test (DCT). They were analyzed according to the models proposed by Martinez Flor. (2005), whose analytical framework classified suggestion strategies into three types: direct, conventionalized forms, and indirect. The results of the current study revealed that Yemeni learners of English at private universities almost tend to use the same types of suggestion strategies in the six situations with slight differences in their percentages. The results showed that there are three types of suggesting strategies used by the students namely; direct suggestion56.5%, conventionalized form 24.4%, and indirect suggestion 19.1%. Moreover, the results indicated that there are no significant statistical differences in the use of suggestion strategies according to the participants of the three universities. However, the results of the study showed that there is a slight difference in favor of Al-Nasser University in situation one and for the National University in situation four.
Are Nigerians Title-Drunk? A Critical Discourse Analysis of Stances and Ideological Strategies on Honorifics in a Nigerian Twitter Discussion
Through an online debate on Twitter (now X), the study critically explores ideological stances on honorifics in a workplace context, the underlying goals projected by online stance-takers, and the discursive strategies employed to express these ideological positions/goals. Data was gathered from comments randomly sampled from Twitter (now x) threads created by three Nigerian online actors: Dr. Dipo Awojide, Naija, and #ourfavonlineDoc based on a tweet by @iam_temmy. The data was examined within the purview of Du Bois’s (2007) stance triangle and the framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) by van Dijk (2004). The study’s findings reveal that stance-taking processes engaged by online actors are characterized by ideological moves such as negative actor description, norm expression, irony/sarcasm, lexicalization, and authority, among others. While some online actors support the author of the stance object on the sociocultural significance of honorifics in conversations between low-power and high-power actors, other online actors disagree with supporters of the author of the stance object. The study concludes that Nigerians leverage social media platforms to potentially reinforce linguistically conveyed sociocultural values on one hand and on the other hand, challenge the long-existing sociocultural norms that uphold power relations in the broader Nigerian sociolinguistic horizons. This adds to previous findings on the ideological voices expressed on social media platforms
Management of Change and its Impact on Productivity: A Case in Point
Today change has turned out to be an essential element of everyone’s lives and for business existence as well. Most of the organizations with the necessity of change in their day-to-day operations have different ideas on change. The main focus of the paper is to understand the effect of change and its management in the achievement of business goals. Moreover, the study aims to throw light on the prime concepts & various applications of change management with the help of the various change models on employee’s productivity. The effort to bring about change may face retaliations so businesses should incorporate means to curtail the resistance level and promote an even shift of change. Top level management have huge role to play in executing the change and they serve as a role model to successfully handle the change. With respect to implement an unbeaten change initiative, management and businesses must make sure that any prior plan for change must be associated with the company’s objectives as witnessed by many literatures in this current study certifying the relationship between change, change management and the accomplishment of corporate objectives. This present paper has been designed to analyze and to assess the effect of change management on worker’s productivity and the adverse effect of resistance to change by examining the case study of Nokia. It also explores the range of models that the management could pertain to minimize resistance towards change. In the present case study of Nokia McKinsey’s 7s framework model fits well
Meta Analysis Study of Marketing Innovation on SME Business Performance in Ethiopia
This study looked at how market innovation affected SMEs' performance in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, with the use of government support programmes as a moderator. The study's meta-analysis will be guided by the Schumpeter innovation theory, which also incorporates the diffusion of innovation theory, expectancy theory, institutional theory, stakeholder theory, absorptive capacity theory, resource-based view/theory, dynamic capability theory, R-A theory, and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology. The researcher used an effect size approach based on a forest and funnel plot to scan, exclude, and include relevant material. Researchers discovered a connection between the Dimension of Innovation and company performance on the basis of an extensive literature review. Also Based on the studied literature, the researcher discovered a link between the moderation of the government support programme and the performance of SMEs' firms in the area of innovation. To carry out this study, an exploratory sequential mixed research design will be used. Based on the current literature, the study attempts to create a conceptual framework and testable hypotheses. It was discovered that the impact of marketing innovation on a firm's performance was moderated by government support programmes. Businesses must be encouraged to adopt government support programmes with a moderating influence as a result

Empowering Subject Matter Awareness through Exploratory Practice: Embracing Practitioner Research in the AI Era
A noteworthy challenge encountered among university EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners lies in their deficiency pertaining to subject matter awareness, a crucial dimension of self-directed learning. This deficiency mainly hampers their ability to effectively deploy critical thinking strategies. This issue has been further exacerbated by the prevalent trend of students heavily relying on Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for various educational tasks. To address this multifaceted challenge, this experimental research was conducted within a Lebanese English medium university. The core objective of the study was to cultivate students' subject matter awareness by integrating the Exploratory Practice [EP] instructional approach into their writing classes. The research encompassed two distinct groups: an experimental group and a control group. In-depth exploration was pursued using a mixed-methods approach. The outcomes of the study highlighted a significant transformation within the experimental group's subject matter awareness. In conclusion, this study underscores the imperative of nurturing students' subject matter awareness. Through skillful incorporation of EP into writing classes, educators can cultivate a revitalized sense of self-directedness and cultivate critical engagement within learners. This strategic integration not only equips them with essential skills but also empowers them to navigate the complex educational landscape infused with AI
A Critical Analysis of Linguistic Features in the Comments of Child Abuse Victims in Select Nigerian Online Media Outlets
Many children in Africa are usually abused in one way or the other. This abuse may involve rape, marrying them off and denying them right to quality education. Some parents force their children to do their wish (es) thereby marrying them off below the age of 18 which by extension denies many of the children the opportunity to further their education. This study, therefore, identifies analyses and discusses linguistic features in the select comments of child abuse victims in Nigeria. The comments were selected from a Nigerian national newspaper, The Punch. The newspaper selected covered the period of January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015. The reason for this time frame is based on the fact that the period resurrected the child abuse discourse in Nigeria. The study employs both primary and secondary sources of data. The primary source includes eight comments selected from The Punch. Secondary source includes books and journal articles. It adopted Lesley Jefferies’ Critical Stylistics as a theoretical framework. The study identifies poverty, poor education and insecurity as major causes for child abuse in Nigeria particularly early child marriage and child sexual abuse. It also considers insecurity as one of the causes. It recommends that school fees should be abolished for female children in Nigeria. It further recommends strict punishment for rapists in order to put an end to this ugly menace
Deterministic Model and Analysis of Fuel Subsidy in Nigeria Commodity Market Dynamics
The Nigerian populace’s anxieties, pessimism, and optimism over removing fuel subsidies have broughteconomic tension. The conflicting views are centered on the overbearing effect of subsidy removal on the costof living and the commodity market. The federal government has hinged the decision on the excessive revenueleakages due to the huge subsidy and the need to re-channel the subsidy fund to more developmental projectsimpacting the Nigerian economy’s growth. Trade union and civil society hinge their opposition to the removalof fuel subsidies based on their overbearing effect on the livelihood of citizens in terms of the subsidy-inducedhigh cost of living and production. In light of this commotion, there is a need to study Nigeria’s fuel subsidy, consumer purchasing power, and commodity market dynamics using mathematical modeling and analysis. This paper proposes a deterministic model to study the dynamics of fuel subsidy, consumer purchasing power,oil-pirating groups, and commodity markets. To gain insight into the impact of oil leaks on the government oilrevenue, the time delay is used to depict the oil theft control by the Nigerian government. Analytically, threesteady-states, namely subsidy-free, pirate-free, and critical steady-states, are obtained, and the conditionsfor their existence are determined and analyzed. The findings of this work highlight veritable conditions foracceptable implementation of these states. The analytical results were numerically verified, and the dynamicsunder these states were demonstrated graphically. The work further recommends the conditions for theacceptable implementation of fuel subsidy removal and the blockage of oil thefts
