Mirosław Wobalis, Digital Communicators – creators or imitators?, Interdisciplinary Contexts of Special Pedagogy, No. 23, Poznań 2018. Pp. 117–133. Adam Mickiewicz University Press. ISSN 2300-391X. DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2018.23.07 The article touches upon the issue of influence of modern digital media on the attitudes of recipients/ broadcasters (digital communicators) related to their creative activities. The first indication applies to the fact that the development of digital technologies introduces a new digital order of communication (from the primary order, through the secondary and hybrid order, to the digital order), which in turn provides communicators with a broad spectrum of new methods and tools of communication 0 including tools permitting creative activities. Second of all, it is noted that despite the mentioned rich offer of digital tools and the promotion of creative attitudes, digital media, in particular global social media, are dominated by attitudesof re-production related both to common re-distribution of existing content (sharing, copying and pasting, etc.), and even limiting creativity entirely (likes, tags). The remarks made are compared to opinions of digital media researchers and neurobiologists indicating on the one hand the weakening/ dissolution of the reception of content by digital media (the negative effect of multi-tasking), and on the other hand, the supersaturation of emotions related to the reception of content (negative influence of computer games). In conclusion, attention is turned to the necessity of establishing in contemporary communicators (on all levels of education) of digital communication competences, in particular the promotion of creative attitudesrelated to these competences.Mirosław Wobalis, Digital Communicators – creators or imitators?, Interdisciplinary Contexts of Special Pedagogy, No. 23, Poznań 2018. Description of understanding and creating word-formative structures by children with slight intellectual disability and specifying how these word-formative structures exist in the linguistic awareness of such children is important, as there has been no research and therefore no studies related to the word-formation competence in children with intellectual disability. The only data related to the wordformation competence in children with intellectual disability we have are the names of professions collected by A. Wątorek in her research on the linguistic competence responsible for the development of lexical skills. The data incorporated in the said study allowed to perform linguistic, word-formative analysis and hence made it possible to indicate the methods of coding the names of professions/persons performing certain activities by children with slight intellectual disability.A description of the understanding (reception, decoding, interpretation) and creation (expression, coding) of word-building structures by children with minor intellectual disabilities, and a specification of how these word-building structures exist in the linguistic awareness of such children, is important as there exists no research and therefore no studies related to the word-building skills of children with intellectual disabilities. The only data related to word-building skills in children with intellectual disabilities available are the names of professions collected by A. The dissemination of beliefs was also examined – assessment of own attractiveness, the apprehension of the appearance assessment by others and the scale of activities focused on editing and improving the appearance depicted in the pictures posted on social websites. The differences in these areas were examined between people with disabilities or those who have injuries or specific health conditions that affect their appearance and other young people. The results have revealed that particular research and intervention focus should be put on young people having a condition or injury affecting appearance and/or having a disability or serious health problems as this group has been found more prone to be victimized (regarding traditional bullying as well as cyberbullying)

Experiencing the institution by adults with intellectual disability still evokes controversy in source literature. The study presents the results of the research based on the analysis of narratives by nursing home workers. The reality they experience revealed the ‘subjective truth’ about the adulthood of intellectually disabled people. The analysis of the narratives showed personnel’s work that can support, initiate and shape the lives of adults in the institution or can impair their functioning to such an extent that they become passive, withdrawn and isolated. Experiencing the institution, intellectually disabled adults more frequently face limitations that affect their lives and shape them according to a particular pattern. This paper explores the issue of social transmission regarding the issue of disability as done by Kazakh parents. It covers, in particular, parents’ knowledge about disability and the content of conversations they have with their children. The diagnostic survey method based on author’s questionnaire with open-ended questions was used. The study included 102 parents: 52 parents of children going to a mainstream school and 50 parents of children attending an inclusive school in, respectively, Astana and Almaty. The analysis has revealed that the parents of inclusive school children are more knowledgeable about disabilities than parents of mainstream school children at p<0.01. The knowledge of parents of the inclusive group is largely derived from their children’s educational environment and the media, and the parents of the mainstream group acquires their knowledge mostly from the media and by personal experience. The content of the written statements has shown that, compared to the general population, the parental message in the inclusive group more strongly emphasizes tolerance and non-discrimination towards disabled peers. A new concept has also been revealed in the mainstream group that demonstrates negative stereotypical perception of the disabled as people who are abnormal, a concept against which those parents build an image of their own children as healthy and complete. This study confirms the impact of social context on knowledge, attitudes and the image of the disabled and its results are consistent with those of other authors. The paper presents the issue of social transmission by Kazakh parents concerning disability, especially their knowledge of disability and content of conversations with their children.
