The influence of English on German has grown in the last decades and is likely to continue. The aim of this paper is to investigate the occurrence of Anglicisms in the travel magazine Lonely Planet Traveller Deutschland (October, 2014). The particular focus is on the parts of speech and word formation types they represent. First we make an attempt to define the terms loanword and Anglicism. In the second part we present and discuss the results of our corpus linguistic study. The findings of the study show the dominance of nouns in the analysed Anglicisms (especially hybrid nominal compounds). The research can be of significance for further studies on the language of tourism industry. The influence of English on German has grown in the last decades and is likely to continue. The present paper is based on the assumption that the current state of the development of the FL didactics in its epistemological and discursive dimensions justifies the need for metaglottodidactic research. This kind of research could facilitate the consolidation of glottodidactic subdomains and the knowledge created within these subdomains and contribute to elucidating some epistemological and discursive problems important for the functioning of the Polish glottodidactic community. Further, this could optimize the dialogue within the glottodidactic community, as well as the interdisciplinary dialogue with the representatives of the allied sciences. The present paper is based on the assumption that the current state of the development of the FL didactics in its epistemological and discursive dimensions justifies the need for metaglottodidactic research. Dyslexic students have significant problems with learning a foreign language. Foreign language (FL) learning is built upon the native language (L1). The skills such as phonological/ orthographic, syntactic and semantic competences in the native language form the foundation for foreign language learning (and FL aptitude). The strength of the native language codes considerably determines the extent to which a learner can become proficient in a foreign language. Weak L1 skills inhibit FL proficiency development. That is why it is essential to provide dyslexic students with special support in foreign language classes.Dyslexic students have significant problems with learning a foreign language. This paper attempts to answer the question about the scope of reflection in foreign language teaching. The starting point is the assumption that through reflection on language and its use one can support language learning processes. The above considerations apply to the learner\u27s perspective and they relate to process of fostering the development of language awareness and cultural awareness. Additionally, the article contains a list of instruments whose function is to facilitate student reflection in the process of developing learning awareness. At the end selected factors determining the scope of reflection in learning a foreign language are indicated. This paper attempts to answer the question about the scope of reflection in foreign language teaching. DaFnE (German abbreviation: Deutsch als Fremdsprache nach Englisch – German after English) is an approach to teaching German as a third language to students who have already learned English. This methodology, which combines a first language (L1) with English as a second language (L2) and German as a third language (L3), is gaining popularity in Poland. This article contains both theoretical background and empirical research related to DaFnE. The first part introduces relevant definitions, aims of the DaFnE method and a short history of Tertiary Language Learning. The second part discusses teaching materials, which were created by the author of the article and used during empirical research in primary schools in the region of Greater Poland. Additionally, the paper includes results of surveys among the students and interviews among the German teachers

In recent years, the “crisis of German studies” has become an increasingly current topic within academic discourse. This SUBJECT, more precisely defined as “legitimation crisis of traditional German studies”, has been long debated in Germany. Legitimation is a common principle in the fields of law, political science, and sociology. It refers to other principles such as ‘legitimity’ and ,justification’. Since the Nineties, the crisis in German literature studies appears to be rather an identity crisis, the origin of which can be seen in the centrifugal forces of attraction of several other disciplinary approaches. Something similar has happened – worldwide – in the field of German linguistics, and even in the branch of German as a Foreign Language teaching practice, due to the progressively increasing habit of providing the GFL-object with attributes specifying its specific purposes, for instance: German for Occupational Purposes, German for Business, German for Medical Purposes, for legal Professionals, Engineers, German for young, adult, senior learners etc. The question of which variety of German should be considered at the university level depends upon several factors, a simple answer is therefore not forthcoming. It is extremely important for the modern field of German studies especially within the “German as a Foreign Languagecountries”, that the object „GFL for humanistic purposes” be clearly defined, at least as a variety within the multiplicity of given alternatives. In recent years, the “crisis of German studies” has become an increasingly current topic within academic discourse.
