    Correlating quality of translation and organization of mental lexicons

    I have discussed cognitive aspects of translation and have attempted to pay particular attention to the cognitive conditions guaranteeing the correct process of translation. Translating from one language into another is, in my opinion, possible thanks to reference to the conceptual ground and information processing outside language. The division of a single mental lexicon common to two languages into two separate mental lexicons influences the quality of translation. The condition of a successful translation is the correct identification of the conceptual structure and this, in turn, is possible only after the division of the mental lexicons so that the lexical units have direct access to concepts beyond language and are able to activate them.I have discussed cognitive aspects of translation and have attempted to pay particular attention to the cognitive conditions guaranteeing the correct process of translation.     Kulturelle Barrieren in der deutsch-spanischen Geschäftskommunikation

    This research project aims at identifying and describing possible critical incidents which may arise in the framework of transcultural discursive practices between professionals from Germany and Spain in business situations, for example, in interviews, meetings, negotiations, and decision making. The methodology employed in this paper is based on an empirical study using by means of personal interviews and questionnaires in order to defend or refute cultural standards in the business world existing in established theoretical foundations.This research project aims at identifying and describing possible critical incidents which may arise in the framework of transcultural discursive practices between professionals from Germany and Spain in business situations, for example, in interviews, meetings, negotiations, and decision making.     Development of information structure in acquisition of German as an early foreign language

    The article investigates the use of pronouns to express subjects and objects in early acquisition of German as a foreign language. The main goal of the investigation is to shed some light on the process of development of information structure in the minds of young learners of a foreign language. The study investigates longitudinal data from children who were exposed to German in a school setting from the age of 7 or 9. The results of the empirical study show that children acquiring German in a school setting use a relatively high number of pronouns for subjects, but they rarely use pronouns to express objects. The pedagogical implication for developing an optimal outline for foreign language teaching in early childhood is the necessity to pay more attention to the development of pragmatic and discourse skills of children learning a foreign language.The article investigates the use of pronouns to express subjects and objects in early acquisition of German as a foreign language.     The role of linguistics in language education has always been contested and has generated non-homogeneous opinions since the beginning of the existence of that discipline. This paper attempts to provide a broader examination of the interrelation between these two disciplines over the last few decades. Considerations are based on the example of German linguistics and the teaching of German as foreign language. It constitutes a contribution to the discourse on the identity and autonomy of language education as a science.The role of linguistics in language education has always been contested and has generated non-homogeneous opinions since the beginning of the existence of that discipline.     On the communicative achievements of foreign-language learners

    The structures of a foreign language, presented by a teacher-sender, are received by a learner as specific signals that are subject to phonetic-phonological and graphic-graphemic decoding. They are accordingly transferred to the foreign-language center, in which semanticgrammatical decoding is performed. Individual structures acquired in this fashion constitute constructive elements of the storage mechanism for learning language in the form of constant structure-matrices. In the process of the receptive-productive dynamization of the language’s structures, the learner simultaneously masters their effectiveness and potential, which make it possible to apply the codified information to current situations. Autonomous forms of learning a foreign language lead to an increase in the reserves of vocabulary and to its more effective application.     The article examines some aspects of the modern syntax and algorithmic modeling. In 1974, in Dedham, Massachusetts, an international meeting took place which paved the way for the interdisciplinary research field of biolinguistics. The key focus area was syntax, its hierarchical structure and system of discrete infinity, unusual for the biological world. Here, some aspects of computational efficiency are analyzed in recent generative frameworks: operation Merge, the probe-goal system and the concept of the phase, among others. The aim of this article is to investigate an intriguing structure with final subject of unaccusatives in Yiddish, a Germanic language with Slavonic influences, and to show phase structures, feature inheritance, probe-goal, and a cyclic transfer system.The article examines some aspects of the modern syntax and algorithmic modeling.
