The purpose of this short article is to present adjectival compositional-derivational word-formations (= samdannelser) in contemporary Danish with regard to their structure, morphology and partly their semantics. There are different interpretations of the notion “samdannelser” in Danish scholarly literature. My point of reference is Paul Diderichsen’s description of this term. This description is based on a morphological analysis. A few types of structures are presented and some morphological phenomena and changes concerning the individual examples are described

Der - som formelt subjekt i dansk

The article is an attempt at describing the use and meaning of one of the small but meaningful Danish words - der. It endeavours to present the syntactic role and the semantic meaning of der in a sentence. The final part of the article contains a comparison of der and del, which can be used similarly in some functions, as in the det-kl0vning compared to the der-kløvning

I det VI kallar landet Sverige - från dräpande samtidssatir till nostalgisk dröm och mycket annat. Bilden av Sverige i Carl-Johan Vallgrens v isor

Carl-Johan Vallgren, the writer and musician bom in 1964. has published eight books and released five records with his own lyrics and music. His novel called Den vidunderliga karlekens historia (The Horrific Sufferings of the Mind-Reading Monster Hercules Barefoot, His Wonderful Love and His Terrible Hatred) proved a spectacular success in 2002. The media describe him sometimes as „the least Swedish of all Swedish writers”. This opinion derives partly from his choice of the subjects and partly from the fact that Vallgren has travelled much in Asia and Europe and in the beginning of the 1990s he lived in Madrid and Copenhagen and then in Berlin for twelve years. This analysis of Vallgren’s lyrics is an attempt to show that the writer has never lost touch with his homeland to which he returned in 2005. His musical and literary stories paint a picture of Sweden with distinct features of social satire; Vallgren uses irony and black humour in a masterly manner, he shocks and even teeters on the edge of good taste. Nevertheless, drastic features are juxtaposed by lyrical threads and the note of nostalgia in his descriptions of characters, places and phenomena moderates Vallgren’s severe criticism

Ett bidrag till teorin om det svenska perfektums utveckling

An attempt is made to account for the development of the Swedish perfect tense. The analysis is based on Kuiylowicz’s theory on the origin of temporal categories. The Swedish perfect tense is derived from periphrastic present constructions which denote present states resulting from past events. The constructions tend to develop the temporal meaning of Past (Praeteritality while gradually reducing that of Present (Presentavity). This development is caused by the processes of delexicalization and grammaticalization. The Swedish perfect tense, however, has not yet reached the stage of pure Praeteritality though in certain contexts it can already be determined by temporal adverbs primarily referring to the Past

Bildsprache und Sprachbilder in der Prosa und Prosatheorie Jan Kjaerstads

In all his novels Jan Kjærstad in a very significant manner makes use of pictorial descriptions. The objects, which he describes, oscillate between famous pictures of artists like Vermeer, Picasso, Gauguin, van Gogh and imaginary ones, which are the products of the author’s own phantasy. Together the descriptions of real and fictional objets d’art shape a network of interpictorial patterns, which are typical for Kjaerstad’s way of writing. These interfigural traces seem to me to be very important parts of the textual conception of his novels and they obviously have a metaphoric function. In my contribution I focus on some aspects of this metaphoric structure by means of pictorial description and show some semantic implications of the interpictorial relations and of the basic communications between verbal and graphic signs, which in the novels of Kjærstad can be traced back to a common point of departure, in which there is no difference between written and pictorial expression
