Sweden and the question of Poland’s independence (1914–1918)
Get PDFThe author claims that the question of Poland’s independence was of great political interest to the Swedes of World War I, especially to Swedish activists who collaborated with Germany. The Polish question was seen in the wider context of aspiration of the Baltic “oppressed peoples”. A number of eminent Swedes openiy demanded that the right to independent state existence be granted to Poland. The author also discusses the role of various organizations (e.g. the League of Peoples Oppressed by Russia and Information Office “Polonia”) active in Stockholm at that time

Get PDFThe aim of this article is to present Bruno K. Oijer’s (b.1951) poetry as a way of addressing the Muse, and himself as a Muse poet, as defined in Robert Graves’ The White Goddess, wh ich Oijer often referred to in many of his utterances. Numerous references to the book are made in order to shed light on the aspect of mother and child, as well as the poet\u27s return to his birthplace, which are most frequent in his latest collection of poems, the so-called Trilogy. An analysis of Oijer\u27s concept of nature is also conducted, as the feminine particle - in the shape of a deprived Mother Earth - is present even there. My assumption is that Oijer wants to carry on the tradition of a romantic poet who can - if only he remains sincere with himself - read from the great book of nature and decode it for the rest of us. In order to see things clearly, he has to go as far as to stay apart from society, and his poetry becomes a requiem played for our planet, an innocent child\u27s farewell to the Earth as it used to be

The analysis has been restricted to accounting for patterns which can be explained by negative interlingual interference. The errors have been divided into two groups: structural and lexico-semantic and supplied with numerous examples drawn from compositions and written exercises of various types of Polish learners. Errors in patterns of communicative competence are also dealt with. The analysis has been carried out in a traditional way and the emphasis has been put on its practical value

Get PDFWenn das ganze Volk einbezogen wird, so spricht man oft von der Verwirklichung vollkommener Demokratie, denn diese bedeute ja „Volksherrschaft”, aber kommt es nicht vielmehr auf das verantwortliche und rechenschaftspflichtige Verhalten und politische Gestalten der Politiker an? Nicht zuletzt sollte bedacht werden, daß das häufige Anwenden des Instruments Volksabstimmung zu Überdruß und Wahlmüdigkeit führen kann und damit gerade nicht zur Politisierung der Bevölkerung beiträgt, sondern zur politischen Resignation führen kann. Man sollte sich vom Instrument der Volksabstimmung verabschieden in Fragen der Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik und sollte dieses Verfahren nicht durch übermäßigen Gebrauch schwächen. Denn auf lokaler Ebene, in überschaubaren Sachfragen, kann das Referendum nützlich sein
