    The history of Alexander the Great was from his time on a very popular medium for facts and also common known fictions, what let Alexanders deeds become very longing for other rulers, like Louis XIV. He hired Charles le Brun to paint a representative passage of Alexanders history, what he liquidated through the lecture of Cutius Rufus’ historia Alexandri Magni. This paper is about the transformation of ancient sources with their intentions into 17th century France. I created the thesis of „mental horizons“ to depict the motives of adoption into the historical perception.

    The following seminar-paper deals with the early modern colonialism by the example of the Spanish Empire. In this context the paper works on the question how and why the formerly small kingdom Castile-Aragón was successful in conquering the so called ‘new world’ and as a result in establishing one of the largest empires from global extent in world history from the 15th to the 16th century. Therefor the paper examines the conditions on the Iberian Peninsula at that time as well as the backgrounds of the oversea-conquest, including the impact on the indigenous population, to finally clarify the question of how the spanish colonialism was designed

    This seminar paper analyzes 19th century portrait photographs in British-India, which were mainly made by and addressed at British citizens. Regarding the wide range of genres, it can be shown that these photographs hardly give a realistic image of India, but instead reflect the contemporaneous British view on the colony and its native inhabitants. Photography was therefore an essential instrument of colonial policy. By creating a culturally inferior “other”, it helped legitimating the British rule over India

    Abstract The geographical environment of Heinrich of Rottenburg The following seminar paper analyses the mobility of the aristocrat Heinrich of Rottenburg, who lived in the turn of the 14th to the 15th century. He was one of the most powerful and wealthiest Tyroleans and was continually travelling around by command of duke Friedrich IV. This paper tries to illustrate Heinrich of Rottenburg\u27s travel accounts and under which conditions they took place. For this purpose, it is also necessary to take his life into consideration.     Schloss Hartheim – von der Pflege- zur Tötungsanstalt: Historischer Abriss und exemplarische Quellenarbeit mit Briefen von Angehörigen der Ermordeten

    Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit Schloss Hartheim in Linz und dessen Weg von der Pflege- zur Tötungsanstalt. In einem einleitenden Kapitel soll der Kontext der Ermordungen von behinderten Menschen in Hartheim erschlossen werden, weshalb die „Aktion T4“ und die Organisation des Tötens anhand ausgewählter Fachliteratur erklärt werden. Im folgenden Kapitel wird der Fokus auf Hartheim gelegt und dessen Rolle in der NS-Tötungsmaschinerie erläutert, ein Unterkapitel befasst sich auch mit Hartheim als Gedenkort. Im abschließenden Kapitel wird ein besonderer Aspekt der NS-Euthanasie anhand einer kleinen Quellenstudie thematisiert, nämlich die Reaktion der Angehörigen von Ermordeten.

In the following chapters the Austrian and Vorarlberg migration history, the government regulated recruitment of Turkish guest-workers and their historical and economic importance will be displayed. The focus of this paper is to show which historical developments have caused recruitment of foreign workers and which positive and negative effects this political move had for Austria and also for the migrants themselves
