Prevalence of Hypertension in Indonesia: 2018 Basic Health Research

Hypertension is one of the main factors contributing to premature death. The nationwide prevalence rate of hypertension in Indonesia is relatively high. Understanding the factors contributing to hypertension is essential to reduce the prevalence of hypertension. This paper investigates the risk factors associated with hypertension based on the survey data of Riskesdas 2018. The risk factors related to behaviors or lifestyle include smoking every day, being less active, eating fatty or salty foods once a day, drinking caffeine once a day, and overweight status. Using multiple linear regression, this study finds that being overweight with a body mass index in range 25-27 and having a daily coffee intake habit of one cup are the most significant risk factors to the prevalence of hypertension. These findings should be used as a reference for preventative and promotional actions to reduce the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia

The Minimum Initial Service Package Readiness Assessment (MRA) was a comprehensive tool used to evaluate a region’s preparedness in delivering priority reproductive health services during emergencies, as outlined in the MISP. In Indonesia, the MRA had only been implemented in four provinces, including Central Java. This study was the first research conducted in Magelang Regency. It aimed to describe the implementation of the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for reproductive health during the Mount Merapi eruption disaster in Magelang Regency. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving 10 informants from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and evacuation site managers. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document review, with data validity ensured through triangulation of techniques and data sources. The data analysis included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicated that MISP implementation in Magelang Regency during the Mount Merapi eruption disaster remained suboptimal, particularly due to the absence of a dedicated reproductive health sub-cluster. Despite good coordination among government agencies, awareness and understanding of MISP among policymakers remained limited. Village midwives played a crucial role in health service provision at evacuation sites. However, socio-cultural constructs that perceived reproductive health issues during disasters as sensitive posed significant challenges

    No full text
From the results of the author\u27s observations, in the pencak silat extracurricular during training, that in terms of the use of front kicks there are still children who do not have kicking speed when performing straight kicking techniques due to lack of attention to speed training exercises on the muscle part, this can be seen when kicking the athlete does not reach maximum speed. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of pliometric training on increasing the speed of the front kick of pencak silat at SMAN 1 Maja. The method used is experimental method with One Group Pretest-postest Design research design. The number of samples was 20 people, with total sampling technique. While the instrument uses a front kick martial arts test. From the results of hypothesis testing, the value of 0.015 is smaller than 0.5, it can be said that the hypothesis is accepted, this means that there is an effect of pliometric training on increasing the speed of front kicks

Effectiveness of Patent License Arrangements in Encouraging Technology Transfer in Indonesia

    No full text
Patent licensing is an important instrument in promoting technology transfer, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. However, the implementation of patent licensing still faces various challenges, both from the regulatory side and in practice on the ground. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of patent licensing legal regulations based on Law Number 13 of 2016, as well as to identify structural and institutional barriers in its implementation. Using a normative legal approach complemented by empirical literature studies, this research found that the lack of detailed regulations regarding the substance of licenses and the weak government oversight are the main obstacles. Derivative regulations and the strengthening of reporting and evaluation mechanisms are needed so that patent licenses truly function as a means of sustainable and fair technology transfer

This study aims to put forward the idea of a strategy for internalising Green Politics in Indonesia by looking at good practices in other countries such as the practice of green party campaigns in Australia and the presence of Green Parties in Germany. This study uses Qualitative research. This method was chosen to analyse and deeply explore important issues related to Green Politic in this study. This study concludes that there are 2 (two) efforts to internalise Green Politic in Indonesia, namely First, by initiating an environment-based social movement into political parties in Indonesia such as the practice carried out by the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (WALHI) by looking at the good practices of the Green campaign in Australia and the second is the idea of internalising Green Politic through the formation of Green Parties in Indonesia such as the practice of green parties in Germany with the hope that these two efforts can make changes, especially in efforts to do justice in the environmental field through the process of formulating policies that are in favour of environmental issues in Indonesia

Measuring the intensity of smoking behavior among beneficiaries of subsidized health insurance: Item Response Theory (IRT) Analysis

The absence of sufficient income leaves the impoverished and near-poor particularly susceptible to economic shocks, yet they encounter significant barriers in accessing the health insurance market. The government introduced the Health Premium Assistance for the Poor and Near-Poor (Askeskin) program on January 1, 2005, to address this issue. However, individuals with lower socioeconomic status are disproportionately likely to smoke. Therefore, it is imperative to conduct screening and assess smoking intensity, particularly among those facing economic hardships, to effectively address smoking behavior. To assess the severity of smoking habits among beneficiaries of subsidized health insurance (Askeskin), this study utilized data from the IFLS survey and applied Item Response Theory (IRT). IRT facilitates the development of highly precise measurement tools that accurately capture variations in an individual\u27s health and well-being. The findings indicate that this scale serves as a suitable instrument for examining heavy smoking intensity in research endeavors, particularly within the Indonesian context

Micro-Analysis of Household  Poverty and Inequality in Indonesia

The quality of community resources becomes one of the determinants of a region\u27s poverty rate. Gross participation rates for education in rural areas are much lower compared to urban areas, particularly for higher education, resulting in higher poverty rates in rural communities than in urban communities. Different perspectives lead to different thoughts. The ability of people to own assets in urban areas are lower than in those rural areas. Based on this, the poverty rate will be higher in urban areas than in rural areas. This study aimed to analyze the real causes of micro-poverty in North Sumatra Province. The research model utilized in this study was the Cross Section Approach. Data processing revealed that a relatively larger number of household members would lead the household into poverty, urban communities had a greater chance of entering the poverty trap, male household head had the likelihood for household to escape poverty, while for employment status. ‘Business owner with permanent/paid labors indicated the greatest likelihood to reduce poverty. The government needs to pay special attention to low-income people, encouraging policies that favor the poor. Providing direct cash assistance, encouraging the investment climate so that it can absorb labor, particularly those who do not possess entrepreneurial skills. The need for gender equality in various sectors to increase women\u27s productivit

Cash Waqf Scheme for Equitable Energy Transition in Indonesia’s Transport

Indonesia has significant challenges in funding its energy transition, which requires around US$30 billion over the next eight years. One of the main obstacles is the low government budget and human resource competency in realizing renewable energy to achieve affordability amid rising global energy prices. Islamic financing, particularly cash waqf from Sharia-based institutions, is thought to provide a potential solution. Cash waqf, in line with Islamic principles, generates up to IDR 180 trillion per year and supports the equitable use of renewable energy, especially in transportation. This study utilizes a qualitative descriptive method, through triangulation and comparative techniques. The findings highlight the important role of cash waqf in reducing costs and increasing accessibility to renewable energy for the community. Mechanisms that include cash waqf-based subsidies and innovative financing schemes can be tailored to the transportation sector. By integrating these approaches, Indonesia can reduce reliance on conventional subsidies while promoting inclusive participation in the energy transition. This research underscores cash waqf as a transformative tool, offering a scalable and Sharia-compliant strategy to advance sustainability and equity for policymakers to leverage Islamic finance in achieving a just energy transition, and engaging the role of human capital in managing its sustainability
