Elaboration of Legal Anthropology and Anthropolinguistic Studies on the Existence of the Moronene Tribal Community After the Determination of the Hukaea Laea Traditional Area
Elaboration of legal anthropology and anthropolinguistic studies places the Moronene indigenous people as speakers who live communally with certain standards in maintaining customs and managing natural resources. This research aims to determine the existence of the Moronene indigenous community after the establishment of the Hukaea Laea customary area and to find the concept resulting from the elaboration of legal anthropology and anthropolinguistics studies. This research uses a theoretical (legal anthropology and anthropolinguistic) framework as a guide that serves as a guide for empirical research in the field. The research findings indicate that the implementation of legal anthropology studies to elucidate the existence of the Moronene Indigenous community encompasses the historical recognition of Moronene customary land rights and the legal norms applicable within the community. Meanwhile, the implementation of anthropolinguistics reveals that language is not only a means of communication but also a tool for affirming the existence and sustainability of Indigenous culture. The result of the elaboration of these two fields is the concept of sustainable tourism, that aims to minimize the impact on the environment and socio-cultural aspects while also providing economic benefits to the local community
Analysis of Bed Load in Cibanjaran River, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java
Cibanjaran River is one of the rivers located in the Galunggung Mountain area, with abundant sand sources, so there is sand mining. Cibanjaran River experiences the impact of mining, one of which is sedimentation. This study aims to determine the mass and mass distribution of bed load of Cibanjaran River from upstream to downstream. It also analyzes the gradation of basic sediments, sediment transport with the Schoklitsch method (1935), and simulations using HEC-RAS 6.5 software. Based on the results of the study, the upstream bottom sediment is poorly graded gravel with sand, the middle is well-graded sand with gravel, and the downstream is poorly graded gravel with sand. It has a specific gravity of 2.75 - 2.8. The mass transport of bottom sediment using the Schoklitsch calculation method is upstream 22,383.53 tons/day, middle 7,844.56 tons/day, and downstream 10,561.30 tons/day. While the results of the HEC-RAS 6.5 simulation produced a mass of sediment transport in the upstream Sta. 10833, which is 26,217.41 tons/day, in the middle of Sta. 6399 is 4,502.31 tons/day, and downstream Sta. 13 is 10,517.47 tons/day. The results of calculations and simulations can be a reference in strategic planning to mitigate the impact of sedimentation, so it is necessary to control mining activities and optimize sediment control infrastructure to maintain the sustainability of the river ecosystem and minimize negative impacts on surrounding communities
A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Construction of Acehnese-Chinese Ethnic Identity in Socio-Political Dynamics
This study explores how ethnic identities of Acehnese and Chinese communities are constructed through digital discourse, focusing on narratives of prejudice and integration as expressed on Facebook. Using Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as the main framework, complemented by Van Dijk’s socio-cognitive approach and Foucault’s discourse-power relationship, this study examines how language, ideology, and social memory shape interethnic representations. Data were collected from public Facebook posts between January and September 2024 using keywords such as “Aceh and Chinese” and “Chinese and Aceh,” and supported by interviews with selected users. The findings reveal a pattern of dualistic representation: historical tensions and symbolic prejudices persist, while efforts towards coexistence and shared identity also emerge. The dominant narratives often come from the Acehnese community, with the Chinese group showing a more cautious approach in digital expression. Labeling, metaphor, polarization, and references to historical trauma and moments of integration are key linguistic strategies identified in the discourse. Social media platforms like Facebook play a paradoxical role—both reinforcing ethnic bias through algorithmic echo chambers and enabling counter-narratives that foster intercultural understanding. Identity construction is shaped by both internal factors (such as education and ideology) and external factors (such as collective memory, interethnic experiences, and digital infrastructure). This study highlights the importance of critical media literacy in multicultural societies, especially in post-conflict areas like Aceh. It suggests the use of inclusive digital spaces and educational interventions that promote reflective historical awareness, reduce prejudice, and support cultural integration in online and offline environments
Nation And Character Building: Pergulatan Ide Nasionalisme, Identitas dan Kohesivitas Masyarakat Majemuk
Artikel ini membahas tantangan nation and character building dalam konteks masyarakat majemuk, dengan fokus pada bagaimana identitas yang majemuk dikelola dalam pembentukan karakter bangsa. Dalam era globalisasi, setiap negara dihadapkan pada tantangan mempertahankan jati diri bangsa serta mengelola potensi konflik identitas yang muncul. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode kajian pustaka, penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana nasionalisme, identitas etnis, dan agama dapat dikelola agar tidak mengancam integrasi sosial. Berdasarkan analisis berbagai praktik di berbagai negara, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan identitas harus dilakukan secara proporsional dan inklusif agar dapat memperkuat kohesivitas sosial, serta mendukung pembangunan karakter nasional yang positif. Selain itu, pendidikan dan kebijakan memegang peran penting dalam menciptakan kohesi dan integrasi yang mendalam dalam masyarakat majemuk. Rekomendasi dari penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya kebijakan yang mendukung dialog antar kelompok etnis, agama sebagai cara untuk memperkuat nasionalisme yang sehat, mencegah disintegrasi, dan mencapai pembangunan bangsa yang lebih stabil dan harmonis
Enhancing Student Engagement in Science Practicum in Distance Higher Education for Quality Education (SDG 4)
This study identifies and analyzes the key factors influencing students’ engagement in science practicum activities within the Open and Distance Higher Education (ODHE) context. 127 students from diverse regions of Indonesia participated in this quantitative study, which assessed perceptions regarding academic challenges, learning interaction, collaborative learning, and the use of technology in online laboratory settings. The results indicate that tutorial modality, employment status, academic achievement (GPA), and residential area significantly influence engagement levels. Students participating in web-based classes and receiving consistent learning feedback reported higher engagement. Conversely, laboratory report writing emerged as a primary challenge, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced scientific writing literacy. The findings are discussed within the Community of Inquiry (CoI) and Self-Determination Theory (SDT) frameworks, emphasizing the importance of teaching presence, social collaboration, and learner autonomy in digital learning environments. Notably, students from rural areas exhibited high motivation despite infrastructural limitations. The study recommends redesigning learning models to include targeted support, structured digital practicum modules, and formative feedback mechanisms. This research contributes to developing inclusive, adaptive, and effective science education practices in ODHE while supporting achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education.
Junior High School Students\u27 Science Literacy Skills based on the Nature of Science Literacy Test (NOSLiT)
Science literacy is a fundamental competency for students to engage with scientific issues and make evidence-based decisions. However, Indonesian students consistently rank low in international assessments such as PISA, revealing major gaps in their ability to understand and apply scientific concepts. This study aims to measure the science literacy skills of junior high school students using the Nature of Science Literacy Test (NOSLiT), which focuses on students\u27 understanding of the nature and processes of science rather than solely content mastery. A descriptive quantitative method was employed with 150 ninth-grade students from five public junior high schools in Bombana Regency, Indonesia. The NOSLiT instrument, adapted to the Indonesian context, consists of 35 multiple-choice items across five science literacy domains. Results indicated that students\u27 overall performance was categorized as very poor, with an average score of 39.7%. Key weaknesses were found in scientific thinking, societal application of science, and scientific methodology. These findings highlight a mismatch between current teaching practices and the demands of 21st-century science education. The study underscores the importance of integrating inquiry-based and contextually relevant pedagogy to enhance students\u27 scientific reasoning, curiosity, and literacy. This research provides a foundation for curriculum development and targeted interventions aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education.
Assessing Pre-Service Science Teachers\u27 Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) in the Hybrid Learning Environment
The integration of hybrid learning in science education presents both opportunities and challenges for pre-service teachers, particularly in balancing technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) while embedding 21st-century skills. This study examines pre-service science teachers’ perceptions of their TPACK competencies and ability to integrate critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration in hybrid learning environments. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with twelve purposefully selected pre-service teachers using a basic interpretive qualitative approach. Thematic analysis identified one theme - Teaching in a Hybrid Environment, with two sub-themes: delivering science lessons and integrating 21st-century skills. The participants demonstrated adaptability in using digital tools for instruction; however, inconsistencies in technological proficiency and challenges in pedagogical application suggested more structured training. The findings highlight the importance of professional development programmes that provide targeted support, hands-on digital tool training, and instructional strategies tailored to hybrid science education. This study contributes to educational research on TPACK implementation and enlightens teacher preparation programmes with evidence-based recommendations by addressing these gaps. Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, it underscores the urgency of equipping future educators with the digital competencies and pedagogical expertise required for evolving teaching environments
Integrating East Nusa Tenggara\u27s Local Wisdom into Project-Based Learning to Assess Students\u27 Concept Comprehension, Crucial Learning Skills, and Attitudes Towards Chemistry Learning
This research aims to analyze the strategies employed in the implementation of Chem-PjBL-L-NTT-W (the Integration of NTT local wisdom in PjBL for chemistry), their effects on crucial learning skills (CLS), attitudes toward chemistry learning (ATCL), and comprehension of concepts. An investigation into students\u27 perspectives and the difficulties encountered by teachers during implementation has been undertaken. A quantitative and qualitative research study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. Paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used based on the normality of the data obtained by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The results showed that the implementation strategy of the Chem-PjBL-L-NTT-W model was carried out through the identification and integration of the characteristics of chemistry materials with NTT local wisdom, along with the determination of three project themes for each learning material. The implementation of this model has a significant effect on CLS and ATCL, with variations in effects based on the school context. The effect on CLS was strong for senior high school students in the TTS regency, moderate in the Belu regency, and statistically significant but with a very small effect in the TTU regency. Regarding the ATCL aspect, there was a significant and strong effect in TTS, but the practical improvement was relatively minimal. In contrast, in Belu, the effect was very small and inconsistent. Students\u27 concept comprehension in all three regencies showed significant improvement, with a range of confidence intervals indicating meaningful practical effects. Geographical location, facility and infrastructure availability, teacher readiness, school policies, and student interest have been recognized as critical determinants
Bridging STEM and Culture: The Role of Ethnoscience in Developing Critical Thinking and Cultural Literacy
The lack of integration between science and local wisdom in science education remains a challenge in developing students\u27 critical thinking skills and cultural literacy. This study aims to analyze the effect of STEM-based science learning integrated with ethnoscience on critical thinking skills and cultural literacy of elementary school students. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent control group design. Samples were selected purposively and consisted of experimental and control groups. The instruments used include a critical thinking skills test and a cultural literacy questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant difference in posttest scores between the experimental and control groups, with a significance value of 0.000 <0.005. The average difference was 19.78 points for critical thinking skills (81.14 - 61.36) and 16.86 points for cultural literacy (82.50 - 65.64). This finding suggests that integrating STEM-based science learning with ethnoscience can significantly enhance students\u27 critical thinking skills and cultural literacy. The novelty of this study lies in the learning approach that combines the STEM framework with local ethnoscience values, providing an innovative alternative for shaping students who think reflectively while developing cultural awareness from an early age
Integrasi Pendidikan Lingkungan dalam Upaya Pelestarian Kawasan Perlindungan Alam di Kota Salatiga
This study analyzes the role of spatial education in improving public understanding of land use control in Salatiga City based on the implementation of the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW). Land use mismatch of 20% of the total area of nature protection areas is mainly due to land conversion into residential and commercial areas. This study uses quantitative methods with overlay analysis, quantitative SWOT, and time series 2018–2023. Data were collected through questionnaires to 100 employees of related agencies. The results of the study indicate that low public awareness and weak law enforcement are the main obstacles in the implementation of the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW). However, there is good integration between spatial education and increasing public compliance with land use regulations from areas with higher levels of socialization of the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) have lower levels of land mismatch. Therefore, integration of spatial education is needed through collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and local communities to improve the effectiveness of land use control and maintain the sustainability of nature protection areas in Salatiga City
