Passive Stretching Intervention for Upper Back Muscle Imbalance: A Focus on the Rhomboid Muscle in Adults
Adults are increasingly experiencing upper back muscle imbalances, particularly rhomboid muscle tightness, often due to prolonged sitting and poor posture. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a single passive stretching session in relieving rhomboid muscle tightness in adults. A one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design was employed using pre-existing data from Klinik Satu Sehat Semarang, which included 13 adults aged 18 to 59 years. Each participant underwent a single passive stretching session, and measurements of shoulder movement and muscle tightness were taken before and after using a goniometer and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). A paired t-test revealed a statistically significant reduction in muscle tightness (p = 0.004), with an average decrease of two VAS points. Additionally, shoulder retraction range of motion increased by an average of 6 degrees (p = 0.001). Passive stretching of the rhomboid muscle effectively improves shoulder mobility and reduces upper back stiffness in adults within a single session, making it a practical method for addressing muscle problems caused by poor posture and applicable in rehabilitation and prevention programs.
The Effect of Audio-Visual Media on The Front Roll Floor Exercise Skills of Phase B Students with Disabilities in Adaptive PE Learning
This study aims to examine the effect of audio-visual media on improving the forward roll floor exercise skills of Phase B deaf students in adaptive physical education. Students with hearing impairments face challenges in receiving verbal instructions, which often hinders their understanding of motor skills, especially in complex movements such as the forward roll. This quasi-experimental research used a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 10 students from a special education school. The intervention was conducted over 12 sessions using instructional videos accompanied by visual cues and progressive movement stages. Data were collected using an observation sheet and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ motor performance after the implementation of audio-visual media. The integration of visual-based instruction helped students to better observe, imitate, and internalize movement techniques. This study confirms that audio-visual media is an effective strategy for supporting the learning needs of students with disabilities, especially those with sensory impairments. Moreover, it contributes to the development of inclusive and adaptive physical education practices by encouraging the use of technology to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement.
The Effect of Jack Knife Stretching and Nordic Hamstring Exercise on the Hamstring Muscle Flexibility of Futsal Athletes
The purpose of this study is to examine whether there is a significant effect of jack knife stretching and Nordic hamstring exercise on the hamstring muscle flexibility of futsal extracurricular students at state junior high school 7 Cimahi, and to determine whether there is a significant difference in the effects between jack knife stretching and Nordic hamstring exercise on the hamstring muscle flexibility of these students. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a Two Groups Pretest and Posttest Design. The population in this study consisted of 22 male students from state junior high school 7 Cimahi who participated in the futsal extracurricular program. The sample also consisted of 22 students, selected using the total sampling technique, which means the entire population was used as the sample. The sample was then divided into two groups using the ABBA formula. The treatment was conducted over 15 sessions (3 times per week). To measure hamstring muscle flexibility, the researcher used the Sit and Reach Test instrument. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to test data normality, the Paired t-test was used to test the effect, and the Independent t-test was used to compare the effects. The results after the data analysis, a significance value of 0.000 was obtained, indicating that there is a significant effect from the treatment of jack knife stretching and nordic hamstring exercise. Data analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the effects between jack knife stretching and Nordic hamstring exercise. It can be concluded that both jack knife stretching and Nordic hamstring exercise have an effect on hamstring muscle flexibility.
Sedentary Lifestyle and Mental Health: A Phenomenological Study of Non-Sports College Students
This study aims to deeply understand the relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and mental health among non-sports students in Indonesia post-pandemic. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, 63 students from various non-sports study programs at the Indonesian University of Education were selected through purposive sampling, ultimately selecting 10 students. Data were collected using the ASAQ and DASS-21 questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, observations, and document reviews, then analyzed inductively following the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the majority of participants spent more than eight hours per day in passive activities such as sitting, lying down, and using devices, with low awareness of the long-term impacts. Symptoms included stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances, emotional exhaustion, and psychosomatic complaints. Sedentary patterns were formed through academic pressure, limited mobility, minimal social support, and the misperception of rest and laziness. These findings underscore the need for campus-based multidimensional interventions that integrate physical activity promotion and mental health enhancement. This study contributes to the literature by exploring students’ subjective perspectives, providing a basis for relevant health prevention and promotion strategies in the digital age.
Analysis of Sentiment Towards Educational Services in Modern Islamic Boarding Schools using the Naïve Bayes Method
Purpose: This study aims to analyze public sentiment regarding educational services in modern Islamic boarding schools using the Naïve Bayes method. The findings provide recommendations for improving educational quality.
Methods: The research follows the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) framework, utilizing web scraping techniques to collect data from social media and online discussion forums. The Naïve Bayes algorithm is used for sentiment classification.
Result: A dataset of 387 reviews was analyzed, showing that 82.8% of reviews were positive, while 17.2% were negative. The model achieved an accuracy of 88%.
Novelty: Unlike previous studies, this research focuses specifically on modern Islamic boarding schools, employing machine learning for sentiment classification to provide actionable recommendations
Pneumothorax Detection System in Thoracic Radiography Images Using CNN Method
Purpose: This research aims to develop an automatic pneumothorax detection system using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to classify thoracic radiography images. By leveraging CNN\u27s effectiveness in identifying medical abnormalities, the system seeks to enhance diagnostic accuracy, reduce evaluation time, and minimize subjective interpretation errors. The output will provide a predicted label of "pneumothorax" or "non-pneumothorax," facilitating faster clinical treatment and improving diagnostic services while supporting radiologists in making more accurate and efficient decisions for this critical condition.
Methods: This research employs an experimental deep learning approach using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to detect pneumothorax in thoracic radiography images. The CNN model is trained on an annotated dataset with preprocessing steps, including zooming, brightness adjustment, flipping and format adjustment, followed by performance evaluation using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score metrics.
Result: The results showed that the CNN model detected pneumothorax with 79.59% accuracy, a loss of 1.3056, and 1,092 correct predictions out of 1,372 test data. Precision was 51.12%, recall 78.62%, and F1 score 61.96%, confirming the system\u27s potential, though further optimization is needed.
Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in developing an automated pneumothorax detection system using a CNN architecture, improving diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. Despite high accuracy, precision and recall can be improved. Future research can focus on optimizing the model and applying data augmentation techniques
Performance Evaluation of Cheng & Church (CC) and Spectral Biclustering Algorithms under Collinearity and Overlap Conditions
Purpose: This study aims to address methodological challenges in evaluating biclustering algorithms under simultaneous collinearity and overlap, which often co-occur in real world multivariate data but are rarely analyzed simultaneously. This research highlights the importance of understanding how these structural challenges affect local pattern detection in data mining applications.
Methods: A simulation study was conducted using synthetic matrices embedded with two constant biclusters under 15 combinations of collinearity levels (ρ = 0.3,0.6,0.9) and overlap degrees (none, small, large). Each scenario was replicated 100 times. Performance was assessed using the Liu and Wang Index (ILW), while a three-way ANOVA tested the effects of algorithm type, collinearity, and overlap.
Result: Spectral Biclustering maintained stable ILW scores despite increasing collinearity, while CC performed better in low-overlap scenarios but was more sensitive to collinearity. Under high collinearity and large overlap, both algorithms experienced notable degradation. The ANOVA confirmed all main effects and interactions were significant (p < 0.001).
Novelty: This study contributes empirical evidence regarding the influence of interacting structural characteristics on biclustering performance. The results deliver practical insights for selecting suitable algorithms and emphasize the potential advantages of hybrid approaches that integrate the stability of spectral methods with the adaptability of residual-based techniques
STREET POLITICS, DIGITAL ACTIVISM, AND DEMOCRATIC FUTURES: MEDIA DISCOURSES ON INDONESIA’S ROAD TO 2045
This study analyzes the role of youth street politics in the dynamics of Indonesian democracy by emphasizing the integration of physical and digital spaces. Unlike previous studies that tend to separate street politics from digital activism, this study combines the two through a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework of national and international media coverage and reputable journal articles. The findings of this study show that youth street politics is no longer limited to physical action, but has transformed into a hybrid practice of participation that gains widespread resonance through digital amplification. Street politics functions as an arena for democratic correction while also being positioned as a threat to political stability, reflecting the ambiguity that continues to be produced in public discourse. Theoretically, this study contributes to strengthening the concept of hybrid democracy by showing that street politics is a medium of negotiation between state legitimacy, media representation, and digital community participation. Empirically, the study clarifies how digital connectivity changes the structure of mobilization and produces new meanings of civil resistance. Practically, these findings confirm that student street politics, if managed within a deliberative and participatory framework, has significant potential to strengthen the consolidation of Indonesian democracy towards 2045.
Effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning Assisted by Digital Comic Media on Students’ Critical Thinking
This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) learning models, which use digital comics to develop the students’ ability to think critically. Critical thinking is an important aspect of education that equips students to solve problems and make rational decisions. PBL uses a problem-centered learning approach that is expected to improve this ability, and the use of digital comics is expected to increase students\u27 motivation and critical thinking skills in the learning process. The methods applied in this study are quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consists of 282 students from class XI who chose an interest in economics at SMA Negeri 1 Jogonalan, which is divided in a random way into two groups: an experiment group using PBL with the help of digital comics and a control group that only uses the conventional learning model. The study showed that there was a significant difference in the improvement of critical thinking skills between the experimental group and the control group, with the experimental group showing a higher improvement. This finding indicates that the implementation of PBL assisted by digital comics is effective in encouraging students to analyze, conclude, and understand the connections between ideas, improving students\u27 critical thinking skills. Therefore, this learning model can be considered an innovative alternative for improving the quality of learning and developing students\u27 critical thinking skills in schools
THE INFLUENCE OF INFRASTRUCTURE INEQUALITY AND CAPITAL ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT COMPONENTS IN DISTRICS/CITIES OF WEST NUSA TENGGARA PROVINCE 2017-2021
The inequality in education and health infrastructure has resulted in human development indicators not being achieved optimally. Infrastructure and spending in the education and health sectors have increased but the average length of schooling and life expectancy are low, while GRDP per capita tends to decrease from 2017 to 2021. The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the effect of infrastructure inequality and government spending on education and health on human development. The results of the analysis show that the panel data regression estimation. In equation I, infrastructure inequality and education spending partially affect the average years of schooling. In equation II, health spending and health infrastructure inequality partially affect life expectancy. In equation III, education infrastructure inequality and life expectancy partially negatively affect GRDP per capita. Education and health expenditure, average years of schooling, and health infrastructure inequality partially have no effect on GRDP per capita. Suggestions that researchers provide based on the results of the study are to build equitable education and health infrastructure according to community needs.
