The Effectiveness of Group Guidance Using the Scaling Technique in Improving Students’ Academic Self-Concept
Background - Based on the researcher’s observations at the Jabal Rahmah Mulia Plus Junior High School Boarding School, it was found that students exhibited a low level of academic self-concept. A low academic self-concept may cause students to become easily discouraged, lose their motivation to learn, and be reluctant to participate actively in class because they perceive themselves as less intelligent than their peers. Academic self-concept refers to an individual’s perception, evaluation, and belief in their own abilities within the academic domain.
Purpose - This study aims to determine whether group guidance using the scaling technique is effective in improving students’ academic self-concept.
Method/approach - This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest model. The participants consisted of eight students with low levels of academic self-concept, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument used in this study was an academic self-concept questionnaire.
Findings - The results of this study indicate that group guidance services using the scaling technique are effective in improving students’ academic self-concept. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, which yielded a Z value of -2.527 with a p-value of 0.012. Since the p-value < 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores.
Conclusions - Group guidance services using the scaling technique can be utilized as a form of intervention to enhance students’ academic self-concept. This study is also expected to serve as a reference for the implementation of guidance and counseling services in schools, particularly in addressing psychological issues related to students’ academic aspects.
Novelty/Originality/Value - This study offers novelty by emphasizing the effectiveness of group guidance using the scaling question technique in improving academic self-concept. It provides a theoretical contribution by expanding the understanding of the impact of the scaling question technique on students’ cognitive–reflective aspects, as well as a practical contribution by offering an alternative group guidance strategy for school counselors to optimize students’ academic potential
STEM Trends in Physics Education Research at The Secondary School Level In Indonesia: A Bibliometric Perspective (2010–2024)
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education has attracted growing global attention, yet its development within physics learning in Indonesia remains unevenly mapped. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of STEM-oriented physics education in Indonesian secondary schools (2010–2024). Articles were retrieved using Publish or Perish (Google Scholar), curated in Mendeley, and analyzed with VOSviewer. Fifty-four eligible journal articles were identified. The findings indicate that research on STEM-oriented physics learning expanded rapidly, peaking in 2020, and subsequently fluctuated at levels above those observed before 2018. East Java was identified as the most productive province in STEM education research related to physics learning. Furthermore, the University of Jember and the State University of Malang are the two most active institutions in publishing articles in this field. Based on keyword analysis, STEM research in physics learning predominantly focuses on the development of teaching materials, instructional models, learning outcomes, and physics subject content. Among the ten most-cited articles, four discuss STEM project-based learning. This study maps the national research landscape, providing an empirical foundation for researchers, educators, and policymakers to identify gaps, refine STEM strategies, and promote evidence-based practices. Practically, the field would benefit from broader multi-site collaborations (including regions beyond Java), more rigorous methodological reporting, and the systematic adoption of technology-enhanced resources.
Performance Analysis of 18-Slot 12-Pole Ring-Type Orbital Electric Motor With Variations Of Neodymium and Low-Carbon Steel Rotors Using Femm 4.2 Software
This study aims to evaluate the performance of a ring-type orbital electric motor by examining the effects of variations in magnet position and configuration on flux linkage, force, and torque, and by comparing the results with those of a radial electric motor. The method employed is a 2D numerical simulation using FEMM 4.2 software. The design variations include the use of 0% (Pure) permanent magnets as well as magnets with lamination levels of 25%, 35%, and 50% for the orbital motor type. The simulation results indicate that the orbital motor with 0% (Pure) permanent magnets achieves the highest flux linkage of 3.13 Weber and the highest maximum torque of 336 Nm. For maximum force, the orbital motor with 25% laminated magnets shows the best result at 5207 N. Conversely, the radial motor with 0% (Pure) permanent magnets exhibits the lowest performance across all three parameters. Additionally, increasing the magnet lamination percentage does not always improve performance, as a decline is observed at 50% lamination. Overall, the orbital motor demonstrates superior performance compared to the radial motor

Community Capacity Building in Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention in Hongkong
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) represent a persistent and evolving public health challenge globally. In Hongkong, various community-based organizations have been instrumental in reaching underserved populations with culturally competent sexual health services. However, despite the growing importance of community actors, they often operate with limited resources, face inconsistent support from public institutions, and struggle with sustainability. Many community organizations lack sufficient training, funding, data access, and policy influence to operate at full capacity and to scale their work meaningfully. The community service activities carried out in this initiative have shown significant positive outcomes in enhancing the knowledge and attitudes of Indonesian female migrant workers in Hongkong regarding reproductive health and STD prevention. Through culturally sensitive counseling and the distribution of educational leaflets in Bahasa Indonesia, the program successfully reached a population that often faces barriers to health information and services. Participants demonstrated a clear increase in understanding of basic reproductive health topics, including STD symptoms, transmission methods, and preventive behaviors. More importantly, the activities helped normalize conversations around sexual health, reducing stigma and empowering women to seek testing and medical support when necessary. The peer-led approach played a crucial role in building trust and encouraging open dialogue. In conclusion, this initiative demonstrates that targeted, culturally relevant community service activities can effectively improve both awareness and attitudes toward reproductive health among marginalized groups. Strengthening such community-based efforts will be essential for advancing sexual health equity and preventing STDs among migrant populations in Hongkong and beyond
